Instant hot heater - give you hot water instantly after you switch on the power (ok, have to wait a minute of so) and turn on the shower. Some new water heaters comes with built in pump.
Storage water heater - will need to wait for the water inside the tank to get heated. The duration will depends on the wattage of the heater. This heater will give higher temperature compered to instant water heaters. To get good water pressure, will need to install a booster pump.

Why don't just use the existing storage heater? If leaking, you will see some watermark on your ceiling. If got problem either won't hot or trip. So no worry about this thing. You can use till it spoil than change. (that very longtime)

Personally I would just keep the existing storage heater.. if not problem, why wanna waste money
I used to use storage heater at my old apartment, better water pressure than instant heaters which i'm using at my new apartment. Zzzz..
the best is when I lived with my parents.. storage heat + pump.. awesome time in shower lol

if u have a storage heater, better keep it. Many ppl spend $$ to hack their wall to install storage heaters, now u already have it, better appreciate it ahha
