my neighbour owns a 350Z... bought 2nd hand from mudah.my advert.
He is a young Malay teacher with salary of RM 2,500 while his wife working at a company in Klang with salary RM 2,500.
Total household RM 5,000. One children.. and need to pay for one house he just bought plus the rent of the house beside mine.
For him before he bought... maintenance and fc is his greatest concern. He is used to driving a Gen.2 Evo CK.. so I just told him fuel might be like how his Gen.2 drinks when fully pressed on highway.
Finally he bought it anyway... his Gen.2 still there... but convert normal engine already.
I was quite astonished with his decision to buy the car.. here's why (he is my close neighbour... we play console games once in a while so I ask him for details of his financial and payment every month):
-Proton Gen.2 CPS RM650
-House + Bills RM900
-Nissan 350Z RM 1300
-House Rent RM 450
(at least this is what he told me... + - )
so RM 3,300. Household income RM 5,000 - RM 3,300 = RM 1,700
The reason he manages to get his 350Z is because he lives in Perak... his wife lives in Klang... so apparently he smooth talk his wife... his wife agree to share buy a Fairlady... and that is his ride every Friday night when he went off to Klang from Taiping to visit his wife.
The rest left only RM 1,700... and he is still able to continue living without any problems.
A lot of 'once a dream car' for many people... have actually been in reach to most of them now.
An RX-8 costs RM 90,000 to RM 110,000 at most.
A 350Z costs probably about RM 110,000.
An Evo 7 costs maybe about RM 112,000.
Mostly recon and 2nd hand... but for low salary enthusiasts.. they won't mind of course.
Ofcourse buying and maintaining it is a whole different story. Which is why these people... their very first concern would be how much the fuel is and how much to maintain it as daily driver vs weekend drive.
I don't know about other people here... but in my taman area... there's a lot of teachers here. People even go as far as calling this 'Taman Cikgu'. Me not a teach but somehow got stuck in this place as well haha
These teachers are young... sometimes maybe 35 at most. And they do own fancy cars. One neighbor owns a Harrier... the other drives an Estima. All with a mere salary of a teacher (I always assume it to be between RM 2,500 to RM 3,500 at most).
So there we go... no need to be a rich guy to own a sport cars in today's age. Only need to know where and how to manage financial income the right way if we choose to satisfy our car enthusiasm hunger. Like the malay chap beside my house... I've never seen a single light from his house at night. I'm guessing the only place switched on is probably his and his children's room.
He is a very religious guy every night about 7 pm go to the mosque already... then came back only at 10 pm... every single night. This kind of lifestyle... without pure entertainment like clubbing and weekend movies... is probably the source of his maintenance cash for his Z.
