I am running my QX9650 on stock setting, using passive cooler without the fan.
The cooler, is a heatpiped SilenX iXtrema Pro. However, the PSU is located above the heatsink, and it has an upward drawing fan located about 5cm above the heatsink. Not exactly 'passive cooling' I would say...
On idle, the core temp is as below. The one in green, is captured from the thermaldiode on the processor (less accurate), whereas the CoreTemp captures the temperature on each of the core, (more accurate).

The screenshot below is taken while running IntelBurnTest v2.53 LINPACK.
It is set to run at 64-bit, Normal (1GB) and High (2GB), and set to repeat 5 times.
I've ran this a few times, and you can see the max temp recorded under the "high" column.

And this is Prime95 after half an hour. It is known to generate less heat than LINPACK.

I couldn't do this without adding a drop of oil on the heatsink.
And my heatspreader has not been lapped, all stock condition... What you guys think?
