There seems to be a new lens in the market, launched early this year..

http://www.synergeyes.com/duette.htm

Claims to have both the benefits of RGP lenses and Soft lenses.

It's called a hybrid lens.

Anyone came across this lens before?

I'm looking forward to a prescription very soon but not sure who might be able to prescribe such lenses.

Disadvantages of RGP
Dirt can get underneath the lens, causing discomfort and possible scratches to the eye.
Can pop out during physical activity.

Advantages of RGP
Better, clearer vision than soft lens, and corrects astigmatism.
Safer and healthier for the eyes due to high oxygen permeability.

Disadvantages of soft lens
Less safe than RGP lenses, more prone to infections.
Not suitable for astigmatism, unless you get toric lenses which has other disadvantages of itself too.

Advantages
More comfortable, and bigger than RGP so it does not tend to pop out with physical activity.

The Hybrid claims to be able to give the best of both worlds above! drool.gif

its not as good as the lens manufacturer claimed, and its made in Israel, thus msia banned it. I have seen it in singapore but the soft part of the lens still get contamination easily if not well taken care.
