Thank you guys for your replies.

And still I don't want to dismantle the keyboard or keys, just in case to know how to do it. smile.gif
And regarding optimus, I've tested a N53SN Asus with GT540 and it's giving same scores no matter if it is plugged in or on battery. Only this msi I saw that on battery it's not running at full frequency.

Hello. I am from europe and before I bought it I read the whole 60 pages here thanks to you I bought it here is my little review and some pointers. Got mine about a month ago. They screwed up my order and sent me the i5 with 500gb and 4gb ram so i had to wait. It seems these laptops were sold out immediately in europe.

Ge620dx-296nl
FHD 1920xx1080
i7-2630QM 2.00 GHz
8gb DDR3
750Gb 7200rpm
gt555m 2Gb
bluetooth 3.0, wifi
4 speakers Dynaudio Premium
usb 3.0 2x and usb 2.0 1x, hdmi and vga, card reader, lan

Its a great laptop. Very nicely built it doesnt look cheap as some laptops namely toshiba which burns the cheap plastic into your eyes. I just don't understand why they put so many stickers on them, its always a problem getting them off. It came with some bloatware but i formated the computer immediatly and installed fresh. Works great no problems so far (knock on wood).

The screen is really good. Everything looks so sharp or I am not used to this kind of the resolution. It glares a little so using it outside might get annoying.
Performance is great. It can play all games on full settings and resolution of 1920x1080, except metro 2033 and crysis 2 which are power hungry games they play on high/very high settings with lower resolution. Check here for benchmarks on the graphics card and cpu.
Cpu
Gpu

Sound from the four speakers is quite good and decently loud, i do miss some more bass in the sound but its a laptop got some better headphones.
Camera is good to with 2.0 mp and michrophone. Battery life is 3,5 hours on turbo mode and about 2,5 on balanced mode.

Now i noticed that some people are botherd by the s-bar star on the top and if you disable it the buttons don't work. Here's the solution just read the first post it works.
Remove s-bar star

The laptop get's very loud when under a lot of stress. Well its a gaming laptop and the cpu will get to 100 degres. I figured out that if I put it in office mode it gets really quieter when running heavy load applications and games. Just press fn + f5(eco) until you choose the office mode. You can do the same when running on power supply or on battery because otherwise the optimus will chose the intel graphics card. So you have to choose gaming when on battery.

Next. When typing if u barely touch the touch pad you have to fix the position of the mouse again to continue typing, it's very annoying. the solution is a driver Sentelic Multi Touchpad for the touch pad on the msi drivers site
Touch pad drivers
When you install it a icon appers next to the clock. Open it. In the options you can choose different gestures and other stuff, but you have there an option that automaticly turns the touch pad off when you are typing you can even choose for how long. Brilliant.

I recommend buying this laptop. For a price of 980€ you get a very capable machine. And at 2,4 kg it's really light for this kind of laptop.

a couple of questions to the owners if you guys don't mind tongue.gif

1) are the speakers any good? (how many speakers are there)

2) what is/are the major difference/s with this laptop compared to the n55sf? i know the sound quality for that brand line is supposedly superb;

i'm from singapore and the price of the GE620DX is the same price as the n55sf: S$1898

@ninjacoww

From the looks, asus seems to offer a better deal with bluray and 7200rpm hdd.

RAM are fairly cheap now and 4gb is sufficient enuf unless u are doing heavy work.

You should check out reviews for both laptop. I am happy with my MSI ge620dx without complaints. Asus quality has been going down for me. Look out for any complaints or problems with Asus if you can.

Based on specs offered, i'd go for asus. But well I'm happy with my msi not giving any problem

ninjacoww,

By June, this laptop would be obselete. Only think of buying when you really need it, because Ivy Bridge is around the corner. Though it might take a while before it reaches the Malaysian shores.

Hi Sifus...

I'm wondering... Can the GE620DX with Nvidia GT635m 2GB DDR3 run Diablo 3 in optimum settings?

I bought that laptop in anticipation for Diablo 3... Sucks if it cant...

Hello! biggrin.gif

But that's only the beta version of Diablo 3... Cuz i heard that the full release eats up much more resources...

Pardon me if i got my facts wrong smile.gif

i don't think so.. the recommended system requirement is quite low imo.
