Yes indeed, it's the Facetime/iMessage activation number. When you activate them to use your phone number, it will send a one-time message for verification (to a UK number)btw, worry not since you will only being charged once, unless you face some issue where Facetime asks for verification countless time. Especially if you're using 4S on UMobile, it's time for you to go iOS 6.
