Thanx smile.gif
May i know what really benefits using dual core ?
Heavy usage for example ? surfing a heavy usage ?
thanx smile.gif
*
its depend..

if using single/one core but high clock speed, that's enough for a smartphone...

but, if using dual core but lower clock speed than the single core with higher clock speed , that's not much different..

surfing website isnt a heavy usage..unless you streaming + flash website..

benefits of dual core is, you can run application that able to use both dual core simultaneously, yeah, you may not notice the benefit now, but later, if there are apps that can be optimized and used both dual core... you will get that benefit.

Games maybe will get some benefits.. but the GPU is more important in games..

Adreno205 in Xperia Arc S is good enough to play some HD games.. but maybe will have some issues when playing some GPU intensive games such as games that only optimized for Nvidia Tegra 2

anyway,.. using dual core might need extra and more power - your battery wont be long lasting enough [not even 1 day] unless you use high capacity battery..

i see...so thats 1 point for mpro, though. biggrin.gif but what really is Bravia Engine, though? does picture captured with it makes much differences compared to pictures without it? in phone screen, maybe. but it all the same when viewed using pc, though sweat.gif

it is not related to picture that you captured.. it is just enhanced your display

Can someone please recommend a phone with the following specs:

1. Brand. Any
2. Budget. RM500, can go up in the interest of reliability and durability
3. Specs.
    a.  Can send and receive SMS
    b.  Can call out and receive calls
    c.  GPS receiver mainly to track distance covered, time taken and speed; map secondary, but would be good, esp if I can download malfreemaps
    d.  USB connectivity with PC
    e.  Speakers clear and audible - prefer to listen through speakers than through earpiece.
    f.  Camera not that important, but would be a nice touch if it has decent resolution
    g.  Not at all interested in wifi, 3G, games, music, funny applications etc etc, not going to use the phone to connect to the internet.

4. Type/Size.  Any

Thanks.

Thanks for the three responses.  Between the Nokia and the Samsung models named, which would be my choice if I'm currently using Garmin software for my standalone GPS unit and wish to continue using that for the handphone instead of having to switch to some other system?
*
in Nokia devices.. you can use GarminXT for mobile[Symbian is supported]

i dunno about that Samsung /Android devices.., maybe they can use the software too

Hello phone sifus

Need help choosing phone for my dad.

1) Brand: Reputable ones but Nokia would be first choice

2) Price: RM400 and below

3) Specs: Calls, text (need big keypads for this), no touchscreen (he's old school), camera would be nice

4) Type: Candybar but more importantly, size must be medium not big say like SE Experia

Thanks notworthy.gif

there are also SE Xperia Mini wink.gif

anyway.., i suggest go for

Hey every sifuss, it's me again, this time were to ask on behalf of my sis  sweat.gif

So my sis is facing dilemma in choosing 3 phones right now, which are
- iphone 4s, galaxy note, and galaxy SII

She was interested with galaxy note the most, but then became skeptical when my elder sis told her that galaxy note has just being nominated as "the worst phone of the year"
(I wonder where did she get this info, never heard any of this news  doh.gif )

Can anyone share some thoughts on choosing a phone for her?
She don't have any specific requirement for her new phone since she's quite a noob in smartphones xD
But then she wants a decent quality camera on it if possible (not necessary to be superb though)
Thank you in advance!  notworthy.gif

i still suggest iPhone 4S , get the data plan with it.. [suggest buy from Maxis or Digi]

galaxy note isn't the worst phone of the year..., for some reason it maybe have a bug/something that need to be fix or tweak

it is also big...

iPhone 4S kinda sexy and smaller... thumbup.gif

please recommend me a phone that is having other interface than what's in my current phone.

Budget less than 2.5k.. screen more than 4 inch...looking nice on the outside..sleak design...prefer white actually...some phone i have in mind is samsung note / nexus or maybe 4S...but heard that note is a little too big and lag...4S not much difference with iphone4...so don't know which one to get..

@kae, thinking of changing to note...what do you think?
*
hmm.. Note , quite nice and big [5.3 inches blink.gif ]

Galaxy Note official thread -> http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2155335

actually, i'm not quite familiar with android devices, but i heard that Note has some issues [battery, s-pen , screen, hang/lag, led notification, speaker volume and many more] .. but I'm sure android user, especially Note's user has solve the issues by tweaking and update the OS/ROM ..

Samsung Galaxy S2 may be less problem and better choice than Note..

but if you prefer the bigger screen size , Note is the only phone that can fulfill your requirement ...

4s really got such good huh? O.o
My sis really liking the bigger screen of Note, and she almost bought it until my elder sis stopped her -.-
Thanks for the input by the way  thumbup.gif
Wah another vote for 4s, is it really that good?  sweat.gif
Why Celcom data plan is not included geh? Mind to explain please?
From what I heard la, some ppl say if you make calls more than RM50 per month, better go for Celcom instead of Digi, otherwise, Digi the best, kinda confuse -.-

I suggest her SII over Note though, but she don't want get the same phone as my eldest sis one derp ._.
*
Celcom plan quite good too

go for Celcom plan if you have many people that you want to call using celcom[because it has many free calls for Celcom to Celcom]

Maxis plan has more free calls[to other network too] and free sms

Digi might be cheaper , has more free calls and sms and bigger data..

just choose any telco that you like and it is better if you choose the one that you familiar with..

Anyway...
not yet for V13, still not reached the 2500 posts smile.gif

SE xperia mini can video call at front camera..
ill try check again coz my brotha using it and he says cant video call..
yup.. using front
hmm.. video call using primary camera how? can function like the front cam? which mean i can still see other vid as well
*
So, i guess.. you need front cam laugh.gif
the HUAWEI U8510 IDEOS X3 @ RM 480 (ORI) might not suits you because it can't make 3G video calling , just through some apps..

maybe you just need to increase your budget and go for
Nokia C6 - RM 675 [AP]
Nokia 5800 - RM 690 [ORI]

I will just close this,
