p.s. during the matchday against malaysia, john barnes was around in the astro booth. got to him, got a pic and an autograph. kinda very suprised quite a num of fans didnt realise who he was... till they saw others started taking pics with him, then only did the crowd came

its still preseason but whats worrying me is we have conceded 3 in all 3 of our pre season matches so far. i know KD sticks to using 2 teams for both halves to use as many players and to give them some match time.. but this is worrying. i know its without pepe but still the psychological effect it can have on our defence might be bad.

well imo, as most of u noticed, aa did changed the game, sadly he was on only for the last 15mins.. teammates around him looked like they raised their game when he was around. give both henderson and carroll sometime. they are still in their early 20s n as kenny said, they are signed for the long term prospect. dont expect carroll banging in 20goals plus(altho it would be just awesome to be wrong) next season and henderson performing all the time.

somehow i feel for aa because its evident he has the qualities esp in the technical areas of the game but kk prefer british players. or rather UK players.
i really hope carroll will prove u doubters wrong as i blv in him. he's not yr suarez like kind of striker but he'll prove to be effective. downing and adam should provide him with lots of crosses. also praying hard stevie will overcome his injury problem. being out since march,thats too long for me! he's already 31. i cant wait to see him linking up with suarez n downing. esp suarez. i meant like in a run of games. not just one or two games.

saturday is our last friendly. m really disappointed with the previous match. because its no longer preseason to me. we are just 12 days away. thats really soon. hopefully our defence find a way and so does our midfield. we need to defend as a team just like kuyt said.

for the first time ever since i started supporting liverpool since roy evans time, i cant predict half of the team for sure as i have no idea who would play 2nite. only thanks to injuries to the likes of skrtel stevie n glenny that makes it easier if one is to guess our lineup. however, not expecting enrique to start as he did not had a full preseason with newcastle but then again what do i know about his fitness for sure ?

good times are ahead guys, latest news is that we are in for cahill while using ngog to strike a bargain deal. coyle is interested in him tho he recently signed tuncay. suprising thing is we are offering ngog, our one and only recognised backup striker (tho kuyt can play there with hendo right or downing right). our striking department looks thin right now if one of them picks up a major injury.

keep your expectations in check guys, top 4 is min but quietly we are hoping for much more than that !

seriously lol, one game in and all the bashing comes right away.. a fair result for both teams but considering how we started the game, gutted that we didnt get maximum points. yes i must say i was suprised to see kuyt on the bench but guess kenny decided to give hendo his debut since its against his previous club and infront of our home fans.. suprised to see suarez started, u can see he was running out of steam in the middle of second half.
adam played well. can see his frustration that it was a draw. what i didnt like was like steve mcmahon pointed out, our gap between midfield and forward was too big and hence u saw how we went long everytime we got the ball instead of the 'pass and move' we saw in the first. that gave sunderland more confidence and more grip on the game, thought the subs came a tad too late to my liking but although its 2 points drop, we pratically had a new midfield and forward noting that carroll n suarez didnt play too much together last season. the team will gel further in times to come, and while flanno was the main villian in conceding our goal i must say that 3 players surrounding the sunderland player, im not sure who, n still he manages to push the ball back for elmohamady to whip the cross in, thats huge disappointment. brilliant goal from larsson tho.

well lady luck is always part of football.. luck is part of life ;p manu's goal might took a wicked double deflection but young made the chance himself and deserve it. not too concern about how our rivals are doing although yes of cuz i was wishing for west brom to nick a late winner there. shane long looked lively. for a men not too big of a physique, he played well imo. there were talks we were in for him but guess other position was prioritised.

arda went to atletico madrid already. anyways, what dalglish n commolli wants in our transfers are players who already proved to be a success in bpl and also value in terms of appearances and other stats. downing was present the whole of last season, adam was by far the big fish in blackpool and enrique has been a consistent performer in newcastle. if we are to go for the likes or arda turan and juan mata, it would be when we are in the champions league. not to risk 15-20mil to see them struggle with the robust environment of english football and also adapting in terms of weather, place and no winter break. for henderson and carroll, its obvious we bought them with an eye for the NEXT 5-8 years, not THIS SEASON only. heck, lucas took about 2 seasons to find his feet, back then everyone gave them stick, n now ? he's like 85% among the first name on the team sheet ? esp during big matches.

well of cuz there are exceptions to players who do well to adapt right away. example of late, suarez and chicharito in manu. remind me again, how long did cristiano ronaldo took before he got going in bpl ? if memory served me right, he took about a season or two ? robinho came to england with a big reputation, was he a success in bpl? even KD was suprised of how well suarez adapted to premier league. carra too.

hendo's main position is cm, why KD started him against sunderland on the right, well, only he and steve clarke knows. it might be tactical i guess. it is easy for you guys to say, hey buy mata, hey buy A, buy B, but we must see whether the player suits the style KD wants to play, or if the player is interested in coming. i'm quite sure mata would have preferred champs league football. as far as i've read, commoli's style in targeting players is thru statistics, and also we are looking for players who have a better injury record. hendo isnt a gamble imo, he did well last season for his home club, earning himself a call up to capello's squad.

talking about the next gen series, its a good tourney esp for the kids to go on and compete among the best in europe and also be given a platform to express themselves. i watched the match, about 30 mins onwards, mind you we played really well 2nd half altho we lost 3-0. sporting lisbon did well first half to craved open our defence with some really well taken goals. the ones who caught my eye the most is sterling, u can feel the expectations and buzz whenever he receives the ball, gave the right back a torrid time till he was booked for a 'wrestling' tackle on raheem. we had a strong starting 11 with the likes of robinson and shelvey playing. shelvey was rather disappointing. ones to watch are wisdom, suso and krisztian adorjan. hope that the young team under rodolfo borrell will come good in the remaining 5 fixtures. im impressed that he instilled a never say die attitude in our players.
