can agree on the PC thing, not sure why though. maybe we'll get new PCs. it would have been better if they did it during the break. the new ultrabooks are nice though!
*
U wont get new PC since it's the Pro Vice Chancellor's decision to ditch most of the desktops in the library in order to promote wireless technology. The library bought 80 units of HP Folio 13 for a reason.

yeah, but come assignment time, its gonna be a major pain in the ass lol. Especially the whole 3 hour max borrowing rule.
this is the website : webprint.monash.edu.my

its not too bad i suppose, but still, a pain compared to the old system. I do appreciate the increase in the number of laptops though, helps when im doing stuff outside the library, but nothing beats the classic pc for hardcore assignmenting imo XD

on another note, anyone here running for musa or planning to run for musa this sem? lol
*
Second reason y ditch desktops in favour for laptops is because there are a number of people that went missing after placing their belongings to hog the desktops in library for (n) amount of hours ...making those students who really need to use a PC cannot find 1 to use while there are many PC's which 'looks like' no ppl is occupying them.

This happens even in computer lab.

Oh yea , last week and this week assignment+test how???? School of Science sux so badly. I'm wondering about School of Business whistling.gif

food poisoning last week for me, so i had an extension for one of two assignments, basically die last week and die  tmrw XD
sucks for business students cos we get multiple assignments at once and  it would be a massive shock cos we're mostly slacking most of the semester tongue.gif  school of science has it tougher i reckon.

PS: Thanks to those who voted for Catalyst!! biggrin.gif
as for hoggers, why not just use an auto-logout system? school of it has that iirc.
*
Waaa.. At least you guys can extend. Science cannot extend ... Then i think is whole campus also massive shock... I can see it in library. 10pm before library close still got so many people and cars in the carpark. If you come on saturday, dont be surprised to see free parking is full at 10am.

Auto-logout system only works when the PC is idle means no browser open, my computer not open, virtually nothing at all. So people found the glitch and so..they... u noe wat already la..

It's so hard to battle the hoggers. They put their belongings on the cubicle and disappear. Then automatically people will know someone booked that PC.

Oh yea, you guys saw the new block under construction beside the free car park???? it's for new course.. Civil engineering is 1 of them.

Hey guys. I need y'all to help me out on this. Well I just got my Ielts result recently. Unfortunately, one of my individual band couldn't meet 6.0:( For the other three bands I scored higher than 6.0. My overall score met their requirement, which is 6.5. I was just wondering whether they treat English as a very important requirement or what. Could I make any appeals for this kinda case? Oh yea, I wish to go for Food Science in Monash Sunway.

Cheers

Y want take food science?? I can tell you that it is not easy to find a job with that degree in Malaysia. Alot of ppl from that course actually tried their luck to do their masters and phd and end up becoming a lecturer instead.

@zstan , you from pharmacy rite??? Username : zstan4 ???? Am i rite??? tongue.gif

I plan to take Bachelor of Computer Science in Monash after my foundation in Taylor's. Is that a wise decision?
*
Not wise decision. School of IT is going downhill in Monash. Look elsewhere if you're studying for IT courses.

I know right sad.gif

What do you think of computer security and forensic?
*
Good future provided that you work hard for it. Course is not easy but pay is very good if you have professional certification like CCSP from Cisco. Most likely u'll end up in IT Consultant firm in overseas or local. Good future for u in local companies are you can aim for telco like Maxis ,Celcom and Digi. They need this kind of people to look after their network.

But anyhow, u need GPA at least 3.5 which is definitely not easy at all.

can you explain how School of IT in Monash going downhill? Is it because of lesser people taking that subject and end up not much concerntration on it?
*
There is a very sharp decline in a number of students in School of IT. Alot of lecturers has left, even the head of school left, now SIT is running 'virtually' only. Now most of the remaining students are post grads. When there are lesser students, there wont be much earning there, so...

Why did the head and the lecturers left? Could it be unreasonable demands by them which would be better by getting rid of them and bringing on a new team. Short term pain for long term gain.
*
If you're a current monash student, u shud look at the course management office. Left only like 2-3 ppl only. Most of them already transfered to Engineering. No, there wont be any new team coming in because there are too little students in SIT.

Why the head of school and the lecturers left...u can already guess wat happens when there are lack of students for IT...then...make a guess biggrin.gif

However if you're going to Clayton , then go ahead..Thats another story already. Sunway...Nah..
