Since the discussion is about timetable, I'll only be joining the Business school in August. So do we get to arrange our timetable? Since my course only has 12 credit hours a week, can i arrange it in a way so that I have 4 days weekend?

Yes but this is only for the first year, am I right? Subsequently years will revert back to 4 units per sem. And in fact, for a 3-year course will actually take 3.5 years to complete.

So in the first semester I won't be doing 4 units? And Mercedes, what do you mean by 3.5 years? It states there in my offer letter that the course will be 3 years. Thanks for all the help clearing it all up for me guys smile.gif

So excited for uni if the 5 days break applies for me!
*
Now I'm not so sure about the duration of the course for August intake.

Check out the contents from this lnk...
http://www.monash.edu.my/advancement/pso/a...take/index.html

It says - "The diagram above shows the study pattern of a student who commences studies in August 2011 for a three-year course. Please note that double-degree courses typically take an additional year."

So does the diagram shows study pattern for a three-year course or for double-degree courses? If it's for a three-year course, then why 28 units altogether? Total units for a three-year course is 24 units, no?

Well I'm no senior, but that's the standard fee back when I was studying under UniSA/Taylor's. But since Sunway is a campus on its own, you might have better luck with the course management office?

Also, are you transferring to Clayton or something? ohmy.gif

You can request for it on the 2nd floor of the admin block.
I think it's student service, the place where you pick up your free t-shirt and diary.
I forgot how much I paid it already though.

It's not hard if you go in with the correct mind-set. It's very diff from previous Accounting units so don't expect much numbers. It's more off a practical unit which you can apply in the real world.
Sold off my book few years back sorry sweat.gif

The computer system works on a different password as the authcate, u need to see the ITS desk in the 4-sided service desk in the library ground floor to set your password

u wouldnt wanna go to mohana's class.trust me its a waste of time.she didnt even discuss instead just asking student to say the answer.going in is just like bring the tutorial ans and read it out loud.students speaks more than her.
i know her particip marks are easy to get but aniza's is not that hard.all u need to do is the tutorial ques and she'll give u the marks.anyhow u will need to do by the end of the day to pass this unit.and the partip marks is just one mark per time.u attend ull get 0.5 and if u do yr work ull get another 0.5

comm bank
take ms.esther.she'll explain it in an easier way and she will discuss with u what u shld include in yr answer and summarise for u.for dr tan he will just talk talk talk and by the end of the day u will feel like ure copying the whole the lec notes but not sure which are the main points and sometimes have no idea what do they mean.
note than comm bank does not have have any tutorial solution in bb.

company reporting
ananda im not sure.last time when i took he's not teaching
for norita she teaches very slow.not sure she still the lecturer.but not much comment on her i pretty much depends on my own

fm
ok for this unit i went for all the tutor and the best for me is Dr bala
siva is good.if u like to have a good picture of fm u can choose him.he will explain alot of stuffs
for robert.dun take him.he talks talks talks but didnt really discuss the ques.big no no
for bala.he's for those who wanna just know what to do and how to tackle the ques.he will straight go to ques and tell u how to do and explain everything given in the ques.
the reason i like him is because he is more direct.but siva is good just that im not interested to walk a big round and then tackle the ques.i just wanna know how to solve it cuz my aim is to pass.

You can just go to the One-Stop information centre at the library. I had the same problem as you and I went to the library and asked the lady why I couldn't print and all, then she made a phone call and told me they reset my password, and gave me a new password and asked me to change it when I first logged in. Then it worked like a gem.

It will say that in the portal ( I think ) but you can try to print something out. Then, go to the printer, press 1 and flash your card over the keypad. If everything is fine, then they will show that you have 15.00 RM of printing credit

Also, bbuscom students transferring to caulfield campus, possible?

If you plan to transfer to australia, why not clayton instead?

what about 1 semester exchanges to caulfield though, the unit codes are different and outlines are also slightly different, is it also possible?

My friend went on exchange this sem and the requirement for clayton was 70..... caulfield should be lower than that. For business students btw. But anyway, things can change. So its best you wait for the upcoming exchange/transfer talk, not sure if the requirements changed.

Top 2%? It can't possibly be that difficult. My WAM so far is only 74%. Really need to ganbatte this semester. rclxm9.gif

Also, is it Top 2% of the whole course or will they pick aces from each major? Hmm...

Just found this link:
http://www.buseco.monash.edu.au/esg/agu/po...ecognition.html

so the top 2% get to be on the dean's honour list and those in the top 2-5% in the dean's commendation list. whoa, competition must be pretty intense. near straight hds huh? sad.gif

btw, thanks ryan18 and purplesmigs, will be attending the exchange talk, really wishing to spend a sem at caulfield! smile.gif

that depends on the number of affected students and how many morning people cum non-drivers there are...

last time i had clashing lec caused by trade finance ecw2721, cos the lecturer was moonlighting some other uni so afternoon times are not available..clashed with money and caps..so our unit was deemed less important as money+caps was a huge class..at first set 6-8pm, banyak complains.. then change to 8-9 x2 instead.. i had "private lectures" in my car almost all the time...kept missing it because i was stuck at the kesas summit junction.

Hi guys,
Im facing a dilemma for these few weeks. My problem is I felt that computer science isn't something which i liked after these few weeks. Almost everything in it just doesnt spark an interest in me. I think it would take a long time if I were to type down everything I did / did not like about it laugh.gif Hence , now I'm planning to switch over to a business course which I had been looking into for quite some time. Perhaps major in Econs / Finance . So , I was just wondering whether it would be an issue for me to switch over to that course. And will there be problems with my timetable since most slots would have been taken by now ? sweat.gif My second choice would be to make a transfer to nottingham/ help instead sweat.gif By the way, i've just entered a few weeks ago. Comments and advice are very much appreciated! Thanks! smile.gif

The Asian recipe is now split and occupied more booths instead of cramming intonone pathetic spot.

I didn't really try the other stalls but so far the fish n chips and chicken sandwich from the western corner is nice.

The cafetaria at the Monash residence is real pathetic at best! Specifically catered for Indonesians? What about the other Asians,
which are quite a lot?

I don't get why the nuggets keep increasing their price. When it first started out, one packet costed Rm 2.90. Then went up to Rm 3.00. And now RM 3.50.

The chicken rice + chicken chop set is still the best, especially when topped with soya sauce. biggrin.gif

Then again, I haven't tried the other, newly renovated stalls. Also, I'm amazed that that stall selling expensive plain burgers is still operating. Does it even make a decent profit with its ridiculous price tags? Wow.

Haha thanks for the heads up, i was thinking of trying out the wantan mee. The sweet and sour sauce chicken rice really sucks, the sauce reminds me of gummy worms/bears. What u get is 50% rice, 20% sauce, 15% chicken, 15% others. I recommend the malay stall at the back right corner of the cafeteria, the portion is quite good (for a decent price) and the food choice is also good.

much less thanks to lakeside campus.. i like.. because they (indirectly) solved our parking issues. cafeteria is still fail grade lah. i try to avoid it as most of the money goes into the rental first and not the food.

I've decided to delay my graduation by 1 semester, because I'm going to switch majors. What do you guys think? Is this a terrible decision? I could use some opinion from my fellow business students (or others for that matter)!

Also, just throwing it out here that I'll be 29 1/2 when I'm done with my last papers. sad.gif

If you join college late, obviously, you will have gather a fair bit of working experience and that is a plus factor and you will know what it takes to go up faster. That's the reason why you go to college at a later age!

It's never too late for anything, especially when it comes to education and employment.

There are numerous cases of graduating and then working a couple of years and then back to post-grad studies. There are also cases of re-scheduling the course units to cater for a one year exchange programme to Monash Australia, and with odd unit(s) that are only offered once a year and students have to defer a sem just to complete those unit(s).

When you turn in from monash there will be a t junction. Turning right will lead you to rock cafe's road.

Turn left instead. Go all the way to the end, then turn left and go all the way straight. You will come out nearby the roundabout. Take 12 o clock.

Keep to the right and go up the flyover. Keep right all the way and then you will enter federal highway. Empire shopping mall will be on your right.

Try to keep left and follow the sign board showing Ipoh and you will reach nKVE eventually.

Hope I made sense.

I got the part from the roundabout. From the roundabout you can actually go through SJMC area, then curve left. Up through Carrefour U-Turn and flyover up. Then left for the Subang Toll.

And i didnt get the initial part. Do you mean the Monash road itself ?

Road A is the road upon which you reach when you turn left when you are on the Sunway university road. From Road A you go straight and you end up on the road that goes past Rock Cafe on the left and Esso on the left. Then you just exit from that road out to the Sunway Pyramid road that connects to the roundabout at Metropolitan.

Yes you can go through SJMC road but theres too much traffic lights there. I've tried every possible road to get into NKVE and I have come to this conclusion that this way is fastest if there's jam.

Why I meant is, after you come out from the paid parking, before the first traffic light when you enter the main road, there's a junction in which you could turn left right? When you turn inside, you will reach a t junction.

Get what I mean? It's the turn before your Road A.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, folks! I finally made the switch to Business Law and I think I'll do just fine with it. Still feeling bad about the delay, though. But oh well, there's a price for everything. :S

Also, where exactly are the sessional parking bays? Are they the ones next to the 'forest'? How available are they after, say, 10am or 3pm anyway?

Steel Up: The parking bays are where you turn left on the Monash main road. It's before the drop off zone. You just turn left into the parking lot, go under the boom gate and park anywhere. I think it's near the jungle.

You are most welcomed. biggrin.gif

Technically the fastest way to go nkve is to turn left after the monash paid parking. Reach the T Junction before Sunmit, make a U turn and take the ramp up and you will enter nkve immediately.

Unfortunately we are not living in an ideal world. The jam at the traffic lights are quite frustrating and it's kinda hard to cut in 4 lanes.

that depends on the number of affected students and how many morning people cum non-drivers there are...

last time i had clashing lec caused by trade finance ecw2721, cos the lecturer was moonlighting some other uni so afternoon times are not available..clashed with money and caps..so our unit was deemed less important as money+caps was a huge class..at first set 6-8pm, banyak complains.. then change to 8-9 x2 instead.. i had "private lectures" in my car almost all the time...kept missing it because i was stuck at the kesas summit junction.
*
o.O
Arghh. I'm still in a bit of dilemma because of this. My lecturer have been asking me to change to other subject since it's an elective. It's a very small class, hardly 25 students, only one lecture and one tutorial session. I just wanna pass this subject because I find it useful for my future. Not so much of aiming to get a HD.

*
Sometimes that road all the way straight to the exit can be quite jam during peak hours, especially around 6-7pm.
What you can do is turn left immediately after you turn right at the last t-junction, at the next t-junction turn right, then go all the way straight (it's quite a big road), and turn right again at the next t-junction, then turn left and you'll end up at the exit. It's usually faster than the jam but very much longer.

But you haven't even enrol in Monash yet. Why sobbing now? When you enrol next year, you will get to know you course mates and your seniors and your lecturers and tutors. Then you can interact with them and ask all your questions. There will also be consultation hours with you lecturers.

However, if you have any queries before enrolment, you can always check with the School of IT at Monash. I'm sure there are student councilors there who will be able to help you.

RM50 is kin of a steep price, though, pardon the pun. Is it for life or something?

Also I wonder if those rocks can withstand my weight. sweat.gif

Join clubs and societies if you want to meet people outside your faculty. Start networking before you graduate. Make friends, and make the best out of your uni experience. It's not your bachelor's that will determine how well you do in your career but rather, how you carry yourself and the exposure (especially leadership) you've had in university.

I'm the owner of the Nugget kiosk which you guys are complaining. For your information, the nuggets used to serve you guys are top of the range in the market. Tell me if you go to McD and compare it with my nugget and if you feel that there is a massive difference, I am ready to make a public apology for having the guts to compare myself with the great Golden Archers.

Secondly, from when the nuggets cost RM2.90, your wonderful monash management has upped my monthly overhead by 47%. Confidentiality does not permit me to share the breakdown here. Moreover, if you are familiar with friends in the F&B industry, you would then realise that Chicken prices have gone up significantly. (I serve chicken nugget and not flour with chicken flavoring nuggets - that is my commitment to customers and to those who don't mind paying more for quality food).

I am also taking this opportunity to thank all those who supported the World Vision 30 Hours Famine charity drive which we were able to contribute part of our earnings to that NGO.

I am sorry that you find our pricing a little steep for your budget. Unfortunately, unless the management (Monash) are not as commercial and profit oriented, and view us as service providers to students' , I GUARANTEE you that nuggets will be reinstated to RM2.90.

I also believe in not shortchanging my staff and i will not compromise on remunerating them on what is due to them and YES in general, FNB sectors in Malaysia underpay their staff (I dare quote KFC and McD) which is disgusting at the expense of the FAT wallets of Landlords who reap handsome yields.

I take pride in the food i serve the students. For instance, try the sorbet. While you may complain that it is expensive at a whopping RM5.00, trust me that the price i managed to negotiate for you guys are way cheaper than Jaya Grocer / Carrefour. It is a new product (Halal) from South Africa.

However, as a means of CSR, and if you are genuinely working on limited budget due to limitations in financial resources, I am happy to offer special subsidised rate of food for those students who truly need it (subject to terms and conditions).

Lastly, enjoy your time as students because trust me you will miss it like crazy once you leave.

Cheers...

Not being racist, the African students population has decreased substantially after the Botswana officer in charge of education scholarship was jailed for corruption last year.

The 2000+ Botswana students (the one and only batch) are now sparsely distributed between Sunway University and Monash University.

Lim Kok Wing took up whole chunk of 2K+ students when the latter came to Malaysia for education.

As an international university, Monash University always strives to balance our students' population equally, having exchange students from Monash South Africa and other partner universities.

No worries, as far as the admin is concerned, our African students population is well behaved if this is what you are concerned with. smile.gif

I presume you are in the School of Business. Yes, of course it is possible to do 2+1 in Caufiled, provided you meet their intake/transfer requirements. Check them out with your School.

P.S / Do we have like a LowYat meet up or something? It'll definitely be nice to know more people around.

yeah i know A Level result are around August.ok regarding that 12weeks stuff into 6 weeks means if in 12weeks you only have 2 class in 2day,if cramming it into 6 weeks that means 4days,4 classes (2 tutorial,2 lectures). but it will prepare you for the next sem in Feb 2012

Guys, the allocate+ is creating massive headache for me
rclxub.gif

Help wanted icon_question.gif
Imma post some nub questions here.

1st off, what does it mean "Read Only"
because i have some tutorial classes and it only says read only
and what makes even less sense is that the tutorial classes is after my lecture.
whaaaAAAaaaAAAAaaaAAAt?? rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

My lecture:
Activity Campus Day Time Location Staff Duration Week Description
01 MA Mon 09:00 MA_ClassRoom_9305 Ghafoorzada 120 22/8-7/11 -

Where is this class??
9305? Where is that?? Building 9, level 3, room number 5??

My tutorials:

Activity  Type  Campus  Day  Time  Location  Staff  Duration  Weeks  Description
01  Tutorial  MA  Wed  10:00  MA_Tutorial_6209  Ghafoorzada  60  24/8-9/11  -
02  Tutorial  MA  Mon  16:00  MA_Tutorial_6306  Ghafoorzada  60  22/8-7/11  -

Further more, how can a tutorial on monday is activity number 2??

Read only means you arent given a choice to choose your classes. There's a certain time period it's open, think it closed a few weeks ago.

The location is basically building-level-room. Thats how you interpret it (:

Haha ignore the activity number! It just tells you like, there's 10 tutorials for this tute, you're taking tute 1 etc. For their reference. Ignore it.

The dates mean date/month. As in you'll have classes in the weeks of 22/8 till 7/11.

If the time allocated to you makes your schedule hectic, you can take note of tutorial timings you like.. Email the lecturer/tutor and ask for permission to join that class. Support with whatever reason. But i've also seen tutors who strictly dont allow students to deviate from their allocate+, so good luck.

this is a very non sensible question...

its like asking whether a mpv or a car is better..

they both have their own opportunities

Could be true. Sunway area rental ain't that cheap. Even those condos near Sunway university are also quite expensive. The last I heard was about RM700-800 a month.

The rooms are not that sound proof and apparently not brick wall. If some of your apartment mates are noisy, you will have a tough time getting a conducive environment to study! Those of Sunway Residence are better in the sense that its more sound proof.

This is done on a case by case basis so the best way is to send an e-mail to the student recruitment department or engineering faculty.

Haha i see. So Monash is still maintaining its standard. I'm gonna officially be a graduate this November. So that's good news for me. smile.gif

ALWAYS eat mcd or sth before going for ball dinner. At least if the food sucks/is cold then no need to worry.

Yeah exactly! You're definitely not gonna be full from the meal. I went last year and the food was pretty ok. But the portion was kinda small. So my friends and i went for supper at McD after that. xD

Yeah i did. Met some from management, marketing, finance, economics, and even from the Arts dept. biggrin.gif And yeah there will be a lot of people from different sems/years. I did mines in year 1 but there were a number of people from year 2 & 3 as well.

Well i personally think it would be better to do two. If you do just one, then you have to fill it up with a lot of electives which is like basically all over the place.

Has anyone ever requested for a change in exam date and successfully got it? Pushed a few days later or something.

My exam timetable is extremely FML. 4 papers in 3 days back to back, i.e. Tues, Wed, Thurs in one same week.

I'm not referring to special consideration/deferment if anyone's confused. Thanks

Giving our username and passwords to you would mean you can get access to everything monash has to offer...as well as our own personal accounts and emails....

I doubt you can find someone so kind out there but good luck.

You know the economy is bad when Monash starts to place their banners everywhere.

Now they even resort to give out free iPads to attract people to attend their workshops. Oh boy.

There's too many tertiary options, college/universities are sprouting up like mushrooms, all with the single objective of cashing in on misinformed and confounded parents and students. When it comes to tertiary education in malaysia in this day and age, it's not about going to college or uni. Just take a look at the number of students taking up Bachelor of Business, which seems to be the default course. Using a business degree as an example, a lot of parents will then be looking at costs, and not so much the specifics of the course itself. I know many parents who do not really know what their kids are actually studying, and they are the ones who will fall prey to just enrolling their kids in any college/uni for the sake of a degree.

I see no reason to generalise the entire student population into the category you present. Students that matter will be able to make informed decisions based on their own research as well as knowledge they obtain from specialists in their desired field. It is completely fair for universities to promote as they wish, it is true that many institutions operate with the main objective of making money, after all, it is a lucrative industry. This is irrelevant if you treat it as a form of exchange, in return for the quality of education which one will receive.

What is the purpose of the analogy of students taking up a course in Bachelor of Business? If it is targeted at the business course in Monash Sunway Campus, I welcome you to present other universities in Malaysia which can provide a significantly better recognised, complete and prestigious degree. Costs have always been a factor for tertiary education, however, it is safe to say that those studying in Monash are unfazed by some of the highest tuition fees in Malaysia. Obviously those enrolled in Monash are attracted by its reputation, course structure or recognition rather than a free ipad, even if they are unaware of the specifics of the course itself.

It is a competitive world and most professions will have more people taking the course than number of jobs available in the industry (doctors, accountants, engineers etc.). What matters is how they present themselves and perform which will get them their deserved position. "Misinformed and confounded" students will have a negligible impact on the true competition.

Sometimes when one gets too defensive, one misses the point. There was no generalisation, plus I was actually stating that when there's so many unis to choose from these days, there are many instances where Monash may be unfortunately bypassed because of higher fees. Who was dissing Monash?

Right, I thought that Monash was giving out the ipads which was referred to as confounding the parents and students. Ok, there was a misunderstanding, sorry for that. To be fair, it wasn't explicitly said that Monash stood out from the other institutions, not many parents take the initiative to fully research the courses their kids undertake. I feel that that is still the student's responsibility.

Anyway, peace bro. My bad, I'm sorry! icon_rolleyes.gif

Gosh, if only people could take their time and read properly.

I said Monash is giving out iPads to those joining their upcoming WORKSHOPS. And they are not easily giving it out...have to go through some competition or something, but you get my idea, a uni like Monash has to resort to give away freebies to attract attention.

MONey and cASH sound familiar to you somewhat? It seems like its only good from the outside/on paper but internal mgmt sucks.. alot of incompetent staff sometimes.. hate the Q in finance counter cos there aint no right button to press.. there's effectively 5 or 6 different Q's and a long wait.. standing in line back then was so much faster

International business sure is popular!

Yup cos its a major-inclusive unit for both IB and mgmt.. but if u have electives can try PSY1011 if u like to read cos its a MCQ paper, 100Q but kinda tricky.. also can try AFW1310 Islamic banking.. only two formulas for calculation, rest is words and diagrams

Yes, most areas-of-study (majors) are available here except tourism http://www.monash.edu.au/pubs/2012handbook...urses/2224.html

Exactly. Did you graduate with a single major?  icon_question.gif
*
Reason being why most ppl like to do 2 majors is that a course has 24 units (herein referred to as 24u)
One major 8 units
Core units 6 units
Balance 10 units; thats why if u minus 8 for 2nd major, u only have 2 electives to choose from.

IB is a rojak major, bit of finance, econs, mgmt so maybe u might want to consider taking IB.
Finance has good prospects, even better with econs if u can manage it. "London Tokyo NY HK" finance hubs lol

@LGgroup, that's the thing! But I can only join the August intake, A Levels result just came out. What do you mean 12 weeks stuff into 6 weeks? I thought during the summer I'll be taking another 2 units as well. Just like what I'll be doing soon, no?

P.S / Do we have like a LowYat meet up or something? It'll definitely be nice to know more people around.
*
Double summer is not as easy as it sounds brows.gif been there done that.

Sunway and Monash are part of Jeffrey Cheah Educational Trust and I dont think $$$ is the prime objective and whatever $$$ made is plough back for further development.

If for commercial reasons, he would have just placed them into one of his PLCs, like HELP and SEGI.

So other than that reason, why else would one do double major? You graduated, right? Was it a significant boost to show your prospective employers that you had double major? I really just wanna do Management. icon_rolleyes.gif

You seem to be very much "commercialised". $$$$ is not everything. Many successful ppl have given a lot back to society, which in the first place has contributed much to their well being.

probably you dont know... yes the entity is non-profit but where do the shareholders make their cut?

do u know how much $$$ monash msia is sending back to monash aus each year?

do u know who build the campus? and make $$$ out of it? the campus was to spearhead the development of the 2nd lagoon..

dont be too naive...

Non-profit organisation means profit motive is not the main concern but fulfilling the objective of the set-up is.

It doesnt mean you cannot make money but they dont give dividends.

Building a campus and expanding it are part of the agenda to achieve the objective and you dont expect the contractor not to profit on a commercial transaction. The same applies to Monash Malaysia and Monash Aus and any payment made are pre-determined and agreed upon.

it depends on the subject rather than major.... if you're left with subjects that are available in aus, then you can transfer or u can grad with enough relevant credit offered by aus then u can grad from there... its better to talk to the course manager or head of school for these matter

not so fast.. will kena warning letter and have to go for an "explain urself" session

for sure if u fail the SAME sub 3 times.

Where did you get that? I have a friend who failed 3 times and still hanging around.

------------------------------

By the way, I do have a question. I am suffering from flu and asthma really badly. Since most of the venue is retardedly cold, is there a way where I can ask them to allow me to change the venue like to one class probably? Because with the cold, I don't think I can take it or complete the examinations.

And who is taking micro econs? What time is it tomorrow? WES is down and I have totally no clue. sad.gif

acc & finance peeps, need some advice from the seniors.

im taking cost info, comm bank, com rep and ais next sem. reckon i should change it? since im taking fm during summer i have a choice of doing 1 less unit or substituting one of the units there with an easier elective(considering taking intro to islamic banking and finance).

reeally need good results next sem, so yeah, what do you guys recommend? can score well as long as i study consistently or would the sheer amount of assignments for these subjects screw me over?

taking the same subjects next sem as you. summer school as well? didnt u get an internship at kpmg or cimb?

well for my elective, i was thinking of macroeconomics as i heard it would be easier after the completion of mon n cap. Im considering islamic banking for my elective, but just want to choose something both useful and not risking pulling down my grades. what do you think?

yeah, but some stuff happened and i decided to resign, figured my time was better spent doing a summer sem than in a department super unrelated to my major.that, and i'm super paranoid bout my grades ><"

from what i;ve heard islamic is easy, but my friends who're doing macro said it isn't hard as well. so yeah, both would be decent choices, depends what you're more interested in. I'm most probably saving the elective for later(only have 1 ><"), that way i can change it once i decide for sure between a couple of my elective choices.

Are you doing fm for summer as well?

haha this is kinda heavy for me!
comm bank is the easiest among these 4 units, if you could do well in mon n cap, comm bank shouldn't be a problem for u..haha the exam questions are like tutorial questions.. thumbup.gif

during my semester, the failure rate for cost info was abt 32%. Tutorials and mid term were just fine, but finals can be veeerrryyy different from what you have did in tuts. Start doing past year papers earlier, so that you can get yourself familiar with the format n questions. nod.gif

comp rep is not easy also hahaha. I spent a lot of time to understand this, especially consolidation part, yang teruk sekali tongue.gif If you wanna score well in finals, make sure u can answer ur tut questions, coz the standard in finals is slightly easier than tuts, this is what the lecturer told us, and IT'S TRUE biggrin.gif

AIS? good luck. rclxub.gif

LOL that was exactly my combination in Sem 1 2011. Like others mentioned, Cost Info & Comp Rep is toughest.

Cost Info.. even if you can do the tutes and past years, there's no consistency in the style the question is asked. Makes you think out of the box.

Comp Rep.. practice practice practice. Week 7 onwards is hell.

AIS, its ok actually. I think the class tests made me study consistently. Possible to score a D if you're consistent.

Comm bank, easiest among all.

shit... any chance of getting hd's for these subjects with consistent study? or is it just majorly impossible and would require studying 24/7? cos if its gonna be super hard, might as well do my elective... though i do want to get cost info over with asap.... sigh...

also, if you haven't sold your AIS books, i'll take em, first week of uni alright? tongue.gif

Hi, guys.

I am going to be a student of Accountting and Finance course next year in July.

How should I get prepared?

Any short course should I take as an advantage to the course?

Please advice.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, guys.

I am going to be a student of Accountting and Finance course next year in July.

How should I get prepared?

Any short course should I take as an advantage to the course?

Please advice.

Thanks in advance.

Go to course management and get the paper review form, show it to the lecturer. You can try to argue for marks but it depends on whether the lecturer will yield. I have a friend who managed to bump his marks up to another grade =.='

If not mistaken, I think you can make a complain or something for them to mark it a second time if you're not satisfied with your marks.
I know a few of my friends did it for assignments this sem. For exam, I only heard about it. Not sure though. Probably have to pay a fee as well.

Hey, I went to review my paper before.
You just have to fill in a form and pass it to the person in charge at your management office.
They will arrange a time and date for you to personally meet up with your lecturer.
However, some lecturer might be a little pissed off when they have to see quite a number of students.
Most probably you will get marks if they add the marks up wrongly or maybe they wrong marks were recorded.

The review period will start during the beginning of next sem.
You should send your course management an e-mail to confirm this.
Cheers.

Umm if i'm not wrong, it's too late to apply to view your exam script anymore. There was an email to our student email stating its open from 5-9 Dec only. Or you can just approach your lecturer, mine let me view it last sem. Just do better the next sem (:

If you ask for a re-mark, they said your grades might drop lower.

Random q, i just remembered that i'm malaysian i need to do the malaysian subject to graduate.

My question is: am i limited to only 4 subjects per semester??
cos if i am then i need to replan my course so that in year 2 there are none of these silly subjects and i can request for transfer/exchange.

The compulsory subjects are not counted as part of the 4 units... So you can do it during semester but it will be a bit tiresome.

You have to go back to Taylors to get the syllabus and get it certified from the head of LAN subjects over there. You also need to certify your LAN results.

me, stupid application problems ><"

basically ended up bugging the pso, and they finally let me in through the single unit non-award path after the appeal where you basically take the same subjects where but have to get an average of 60-70 iirc. they'll let you into the degree starting from next sem if you fulfilled the requirements(average 60-70 and no fails).

i know only one other person who had to do the same. sucks cos your future in the uni is not 100% guaranteed(and might be a bit awkward cos all the other kids around you got accepted into the full degree, made me feel a bit inferior tbh, also made me work that much harder), but if you're prepared to work your arse off, go for it, if they offer it to you la.

good luck man, hope you get in smile.gif

ps: what course did you apply for btw?
