Thank you, Aar0nY. Any chance you know about its shuttle buses, too?
*
Yes, it does.
You have to be more specific with where you are going to from Monash Uni though.
The link provided above pretty much show all the stops.
Feel free to ask me any engineering course related question (by PM).
Cheers.

ENG 1091 MATHEMATICS FOR ENGINEERING
ENG 1040 ENGINEERING DYNAMICS
ENG 1061 ENGINEERING PROFESSION
CHM 1101 CHEMISTRY

ANY SELLERS?
*
you don't really need to buy the textbooks for these subjects.
If you are majoring in chemical engineering, then you might need to purchase the chemistry book which will still be used for CHM1022.

for lectureres teaching these subjects , you guys know which one the best?
*
CHM1011 and CHM1022 use the same textbook.
You can obtain the textbook from Monash's bookstore.
Alternatively, you can wait until uni starts and obtain second hand books.
Seniors will usually stick flyers on the notice boards.

There will only be one lecturer teaching each unit.
There are a few tutors for certain units though.

did they transfer after first year or second year from monash university sunway campus?

btw the 1061 , engineering profession, any tips on how to score HD?
*
Getting good grades are important, but please remember to enjoy university life. =D
I didn't take that unit as it was not a compulsory unit back when I was in year one.
I heard it's easy to pass but hard to get a HD for that unit.

I'm exchanging to Monash Clayton next year if you need any advice, you are welcome to PM me.
By the way, try to make it for the buddy-buddee night, you will meet some cool engineering people there.
Cheers.

Thank you so much! Did a lil bit of research myself. So apparently the GPA is graded as 100~80 - 4, 79~70 - 3, 69~60 - 2, 59~50 - 1. Is it true? Ain't the gaps a lil bit too much? Thought most uni apply the common ones with little gaps of GPA between each grade. Get 79 and you score a GPA of 3. yawn.gif

And just found out the Engineering that I'm doing has no honours. Ok nvm. So in order to get first class, I've to score a GPA of 4 consistently with no failure, like seriously? All info was taken from http://policy.monash.edu.au/policy-bank/ac...ale-policy.html
*
All the engineering courses in Monash Sunway are awarded with Honours.
You need to have an average grade of 75 to get a First Class Degree.
I think you might find this link below helpful
http://policy.monash.edu.au/policy-bank/ac...ale-policy.html

And no, the grading is fine.
If you get 80+ 80+ 80+ 70+, you will end up with a GPA of 3.75, which is reasonable.
Cheers.

What's the requirement to transfer to Clayton? Heard its tough...especially for commerce students
*
I am not too sure about this for commerce students.
But from what I heard, you can transfer to Monash Australia if you have relatively good grades (maybe pass is all that is required).
Though commerce student have to take engineering math ENG1091 to transfer or exchange to Monash Clayton.

Anyone knows what should I be enrolling for the first and second semester?
Should I take Physics or Chemistry OR Process System Analysis or Engineering Materials.
I kinda hate Chemistry or I just prefer Physics over it. Not sure what kinda engineering should I be applying though. Either Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical.
Lookin' forward to prompt reply. Just noticed my entourage never mentioned anything about allocating classes. DAMN. Thanks in advance.

Hi, third year ECSE student here.

http://www.eng.monash.edu.my/engineering-a...rgraduates.html
The link above shows what you need to take for each field of engineering offered at Sunway Campus.

If you are torn between chemical, electrical and mechanical engineering, why not choose PSA for sem 1 and decide whether chemical engineering is your thing by the end of it. By taking PSA, you will most likely know whether you like chemical engineering.

By semester 2, if you decide to go into the chemical field, take CHM1011 and if you decide to go into the mechanical field, take ENG1050 Engineering Materials. There are no fixed electives for ECSE, but some may find ENG1030 Electrical system to be a little challenging.

You can still change units at the beginning of semester 2, but please do consult the person in charge of enrollment at the engineering office to double check this fact.

Hope this helps, cheers.
And oh, WELCOME TO MONASH =D

Hey guys. Is there any engineering students here who are planning/already started their student exchange programme in Clayton campus? I'm starting my degree in July; I have been searching for information on the course modules and comments on the exchange programme for my 2nd/3rd year studies. It would be invaluable if someone could provide me a few pointers regarding the planning --  things I should be taking account into, etc.

Thank you!

Hi there, engineering student currently on exchange to clayton campus, australia here.
well, I would advice you to exchange during the Feb-July Semester as this will allow you more time to prepare.
Most students will exchange during their third year semester one.
but there is still student coming over to clayton during Y2S2 or Y3S2.
When you intend to exchange pretty much depend on your major (ECSE, Chemical etc).

The duration of the exchange programme at Monash Sunway is one semester.
It is possible for engineering students to exchange for 1 year, but the tuition fees for the second semester have to be paid to monash clayton (approx A$17k).

Feel free to ask me any questions, cheers.

Thank you very much, Aar0nY. I hope you won't mine my adding you as a contact -- I'm certainly going to need all the info I can get! And I didn't know that we've to pay the Australian fees for our second semester of exchange to Clayton campus!
*
No worries, man.
Yea, the system changed during the semester when I enter Monash Sunway.
One semester should be sufficient though, but still, some people do exchange for one year ;D

Can anyone shed a light on how the industrial training for engineering students in Monash are like? What is the proportion of engineering students opting for industrial training rather than taking some of the 3rd/4th year modules?

Thank you!
*
Industrial training is a compulsory part of the engineering course.
It is completed during the summer break ( Nov to Feb ).

Well, I don't think there is a FAQ for that.
However, there will be a talk on the exchange and transfer programme during the middle of the semester.
FYI, I'm currently on exchange to Monash Clayton.

All the engineering students will take the same units during first year.
There will be six compulsory units and two optional units.
Timetable wise, expect to have 20-25 contact hours per week.

Hello. I am wishing to go for monash 's chemical engineering course next year... anyone mind to tell me the total amount of fees for 4years including all the lab fee etc?
Is it really exactly rm37k per annum as shown in the web after adding all the necessities?  i need to know how high will the amount up to since my elderly only manage to afford rm100k for 4years. i plan to take ptptn loan by the way.
i did think of going for other choice of uni but i really really like monash - still catching a glimpse of hope going into the uni . will appreciate if anyone reply me smile.gif
*
Yes, it is approximately RM37k per annual.
If you managed to score well in your pre-u, apply for the scholarship which comes in the form of 20% waiver in tuition fees.
Cheers.

Hi Folks!  Any idea how easy/difficult it is to get a place at Monash Sunway Residence?
*
It's actually pretty easy to get it.
I applied 2 weeks before the semester starts as I was in australia for the previous sem and I still manage to get a decent room with awesome housemates.
FYI, about 5 floors are empty at the moment, so no worries.

The only complaint that I have is the internet.
You will receive a YES dongle FOC and they will provide you with 1GB of free usage per month.
I usually finished mine in 2 or 3 days, LOL.
Have to rely on other alternatives, man.
feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
