now i'm questioning my decision to study in malaysia.
immigration and visa formalities should be the least worry a student should have.
i'm already deemed successful , so i'm getting my formalities done, but when i land in kl, will i have to surrender my passport to them and get the visa?
students without passports are treated like criminals and put in detention zones.
there's also a sunway and monash student mentioned here.
i'd like to get both of their views as to what is going on.
is this for visa extention , or for issuing new visa?
every year i have to get blood test done?
WTF

nope im true blue malaysian lol
sad to see international students having problems with EMGS

i believe the intention of emgs is good i.e. to filter those ''awang hitam'' who are here on study visa but do not attend their colleges/uni.instead committing crime, etc

and also monash students are included in the list.
also it looks when u got for visa renewal and u're not able to get your passport within time, u are charged for overstaying even though u've done your work properly and correctly.
police can just detain you for having the receipt of emgs saying it's a fake.

also what's the deal with bahasa that i have to learn it.
is there an exam for it or such for international students?

have a read here
5. I am an international student from Indonesia and have taken Malay paper at ‘O’ Level. Do I still have to undertake Communicative Malay?
The guidance from MOE is that international students from Indonesia, Brunei and Singapore who have successfully completed the Malay paper at ‘O’ level, can undertake Communicative Malay or otherwise opt to undertake another unit in U2, to fulfill all the required credit hours for GS.

oh man...
http://www.monash.edu.my/academic-services...l-students.html

As a prerequisite for the award of a certificate, diploma, advanced diploma or 1st degree,
- All International students must undertake GS at each level of studies
- Malaysian citizens must pass GS at each level of studies

so do we have to take an exam or not?

i'm not malay nor have i ever taken malay language as a test.

with the new system its unclear whether more % for coursework or for exam
even if there is exam it should be easy

u dont have to ace it ... it doesnt affect your cgpa of ur course

during orientation ...i remember the requirement is local students to pass ....while international students just have to sit ( dont even need to pass)

the previous version of malaysian studies was freaking easy...even without studying also can get a B+

first of all , im certain that i wont affect ur cgpa ....2nd during orientation i didnt pay mch attention during requirement of international students , but im more than sure u dont even need to pass it ( u better ask them to clarify though)....

well the exams isnt that hard...just the lectures are boring and waster your time ...class normally on weekends(from my previous experience).....but from what I've heard , it seems that they are increasing the marks for presentation/projects etc

i dont really know how much a brand new text book costs.....all my lecture notes are available online and my class ppl have found e-book version of the textbooks

im still in sem one 1st year...still basic units ....ppl normally get textbook during 2nd year onwards when they start taking their major units

im in chemical engineering...sem 1 units are same for everyone (civil/electrical).....i will have a chemistry unit on sem 2

even if it is owned by ministry, once it is privatized, the emby employee's salary is not bound by gov paygrade... therefore they can give themselves a big fat salary and milk others
