Can anyone please let me know an estimated percentage of engineering students scoring above 75% in their exams? Does Monash follow the "bell-shaped curve" grading system in NUS? Are there "challenging" lecturers who love to give students an extra twist - thereby lowering the grade thresholds?
*
Depends really on the courses. I daresay some courses like ENG1091 (Maths) and ENG1060 (Computing) would have higher percentage of students getting HD. Monash does not follow bell curve grading system. There aren't any "challenging" lecturers as far as I know, because at the end of the day, classes which have a low pass percentage would reflect a bit bad towards the lecturer. In Monash the grade thresholds are quite clear. Also, at the end of the day, many of the exam papers are set in Clayton, with some help from the Malaysian lecturers (this happens for Engineering at least).

Yes, Monash does do the bell curve. And guess what? your current PVC had been famous in Clayton before when he was there as a lecturer years ago for flunking an entire class.

aiks! should be Caulfield, not Clayton. He used to take on one of the Statistics subjects for Marketing over there. Let's just say, he's kinda inflexible on incredibly high standards.

Check their website. Different course has different entry requirements. Some also require you take certain subjects as a requirement.

Requirement score basically pre-u courses, STPM, Year 12 and those of similar qualifications.

Which faculty/ies employ the bell-shape curve system? What is PVC? Would you mind elaborating? Thank you for taking the trouble to reply my post.

PVC is Pro Vice Chancellor.

All faculties does the bell-curve actually. However how they stretch the curve also depends on the faculty, and also on the subject itself. For instance, one of the 2nd year CS subjects used to have the curve stretched towards the passing side, as without scaling, you're bound to get like 95% failures for that subject. So its stretched to only have 20% or so failures.

My friend from business applied before and if I remember it correctly, your grade will be pass or fail only.
