Meaning it is recognised ? How many actually get to work as MO in Oz or even country like S'pore or UK ? Think for M'sian students they are required to sit for Auscat entrance exam for Monash Malaysia campus unlike for Clayton campus ? Thanks.
*
u read and draw ur own conclusion... work in oz or sg or uk? has the 1st batch even grad yet?

think? dont think.. prove

exams are good, to filter the undeserving..

First batch graduated in 2010.

http://www.monash.edu.my/about/who
*
i think there's a misunderstanding there... 'graduated' in 2010 at that time means leaving the monash msia campus to monash aus bcoz monash msia didnt have the facilities to allow for practical/clinical part of the course.. so those students that 'graduated' in 2010 are actually leaving for the aus campus.. and i believe this is true for the first 4 batch/2 first year of the course

correct me if i am wrong..

QUOTE(newbzie @ Nov 4 2013, 05:47 PM)
btw alaskanbunny, when i land, do i have to go directly to the university?
or can i go the next day?
reason is , my flight will be landing late at night, so... i don't think uni is open that time.
*
no, since you are landing at night.. i would suggest you book in advance and stay at sunway piramid hotel/ sunway resort and spa... you can call them and ask for discount or just book from here

http://www.agoda.com/sunway-resort-hotel-s...d%3d&tyra=1%7c2

http://www.agoda.com/sunway-pyramid-hotel/...d%3d&tyra=1%7c1

around rm 300-400/night before tax... then drop by monash the next morning before you check out... apply for late check out...

do you have a confirmed accommodation yet?

i can only get a confirmed accommodation once i have a confirmed admission in monash.
i don't even have that, they're taking their sweet time getting back to me.
*
1st experience of msian laid-back couldnt be bothered attitude.. i swear i want to strangle my msian counterparts sometimes

QUOTE(ryan18 @ Nov 5 2013, 11:08 AM)
call them! apparently monash australia also need a bit of ''pushing and calling'' to get things done
not only in malaysia haha
*
woo... even aussies too.. maybe it is a monash culture

btw not sure if u noticed or not
sunway uni says the hostel feels in smr is 1150 /month for normal ac room , and 1650 /month for en suite...
but monash is totally quiet on the matter.

just wierd that prices went up again for no good reason..

are there good accommodations close by rent?

i won't be getting a vehicle anytime soon tongue.gif
*
hmm... i can get better price but then it is rather far...

i rmbered what my indo friends did... 6 ppl shared a 3br unit.... rm 3.5k/month... bought a 2nd hand mpv at installment of rm 1.5k /month... got housing n car.. like a hippie van

funny enough its owned by ministry of higher education.but i dont understand why it wanted to charge soo much

even if it is owned by ministry, once it is privatized, the emby employee's salary is not bound by gov paygrade... therefore they can give themselves a big fat salary and milk others

QUOTE(newbzie @ Nov 10 2013, 05:42 PM)
now i'm questioning my decision to study in malaysia.
immigration and visa formalities should be the least worry a student should have.
i'm already deemed successful , so i'm getting my formalities done, but when i land in kl, will i have to surrender my passport to them and get the visa?
students without passports are treated like criminals and put in detention zones.
there's also a sunway and monash student mentioned here.
i'd like to get both of their views as to what is going on.
is this for visa extention , or for issuing new visa?
every year i have to get blood test done?
WTF
*
well, msia have its pros n cons...

dnt worry, being a monash student have its privileges... d student support u will get is good, so if u have any probs with the authorities, u can get it solved fast as compared to the rest

monash msia going to have law school soon? hmm.gif

http://www.law.monash.edu.au/current-stude...study/malaysia/

About the Monash Law Malaysia Program hmm.gif or just a module...

Studying at Monash University Malaysia campus in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia allows you to immerse yourself into life of multicultural Malaysia while studying a range of comparative and international law subjects.

Students will be taught in intensive or semi-intensive mode by distinguished academics from Canada, Malaysia and Australia. In small classes and state-of-the-art facilities, you will enjoy a unique study experience with students from international and local partner universities.

At the same time, the Malaysia Law Program offers sufficient flexibility to allow you to experience in your spare time the cultural and natural attractions of Malaysia and the South-East Asian region.

QUOTE(junolow @ Nov 21 2013, 09:56 PM)
hey..i help my friend ask about something....

the High Achiever Award...anyone familiar with that?

like for me...i got when entrance...the requirement for me to keep on holding the award is maintain a 75% for every coming semester

but for my friend who didnt get the HAA when he come in ,  and lets say he next sem want apply need 90% ???

I remember reading something like new students 75% , existing students 90% .....but the page has been taken down from website and i cant seem to find it......

isnt 90% INSANELY HIGH ..... =O
*
yeaps.. it is insanely high, and avg marks are moderated to ensure only the cream gets the scholarship.. when you grad with a 1st class from monash... you know you're at the top

a lot of ppl complain after dropping out.. because they used to be top scorers/straight A students before entering monash, and when they left they managed to enter dean's list of another school... so they stand bitter... not knowing it is not easy being in one of the best schools in msia

with me was 6 other students from my high school... every single one of us were straight A students during spm except one... after graduation, only 1 was awarded 1st class... this is how tough monash is, or at least 5 years ago in engineering

Does MM maintain its standard today ? On the other note, why did they drop out if they didn't fail in MM ?Thanks.
*
some failed, some left cause of the fear of failing.. imagine getting few sems of just pass, they would get phobia

QUOTE(junolow @ Nov 22 2013, 02:44 PM)
haha yess....like for some units...the lecturers says that next month 1 week he wont be at school cause she is going for holiday.....we ask why and she says : I DIDNT KNOW THERE WAS A NEW INTAKE

and most lecturers are temporary staff
*
this is very very irresponsible, on her part or the school manager's... vmad.gif mad.gif make a complain straight to the vc

QUOTE(junolow @ Nov 22 2013, 10:39 PM)
erm what i mean by temporary staff = teached for quite a few semester in monash already....and doesnt work full time here at monash...so its like monday wed fri he will be in monash ...and other day he will be at other uni
so far all the lecturers are quite good...no complaints from any of my batchmates...just that one unit very boring XD , cant blame the lecturer..the subject itself its boring
*
well, from what i see, monash dont really have top lecturers.. the only few that can keep my interest is dr.lan and dr. edwin tan from school of engineering.. others are too dull

i had attended classes from other schools and was totally amazed at how interesting they can make the subject to be..

Feel relief reading this. thanks.

from my observation..

if u r engineering, u expect it to be tough and it will be within your expectation...

for buss ppl thought it is easier, yes, easier to pass but not to do well coz a lot of smarty pants also so expectation gap widen...

the worse is comp sc and mass comm, thinking it will be smooth riding, but a lot of newbies will have the shock of their lives, not too sure because they arent that bright or is the expectation gap is very high
