Here's what I look for in my laptop:
1. Light, 1.7kg and below. 2. Decent battery life, 5 hours and above with Wifi. 3. Decent graphic capabilities, must be better than Intel V3000. 4. Screen size anywhere from 13"-14" 5. DVDROM not compulsory. 6. Price below RM2k.
I don't think any laptops currently can fit into these requirements. I don't think Intel-based options can get NVDIA graphics for below 2k.
Therefore I'm waiting for Llano, any specific models should I be looking out for?

QUOTE(pandera999 @ Jul 18 2011, 08:26 PM) yeah.. good... 14" gt asus A43TA, Llano based... but heavy la... 14" no 1.7kg eh.. QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Jul 18 2011, 08:32 PM) Even the Toshiba Tecra R840 is 1.9kg QUOTE(AlexLai @ Jul 18 2011, 08:35 PM) A43Ta, I doubt the battery can reach 5 hours+ with WiFi. But I'm confident that 13" laptop can be 1.7kg or less... Just see ASUS U Series, or Toshiba. If only ASUS can release U Series with Llano APU. Without the need to add NVDIA graphic inside, surely the price will be cheaper.

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Jul 18 2011, 11:41 PM) Well, the normal 13'' is weight around 1.8KG-2.0KG, less than that is the expensive model. If you can compromise on the weight a bit, there's Acer 3830TG, i3 2310M + nVidia GT540M@RM1999... The weight @1.9kg seems quite reasonable. I will consider it, thanks a lot! Can I have a link to Asus A43TA specifications please? I can't find any on the web. Seems like AMD Llano is being under-marketized here. Manufacturers seem to be not so enthusiastic about Llano. I understand that Asus U36SD is using NVDIA 520M.
According to Anandtech, 520M is no better than Sandy Bridge's HD3000. So is it worth it to get a laptop with 520M at all?

I see, so the performance benefits are minimal, unless you overclock it of course.

Anybody knows if there's any news on MSI coming out with new X series laptops?
A Llano refresh on their X370 could be the best thing to happen. 1.3kg goodness under RM2k. Bests even ASUS's U series.

Any brands offer international warranty? More specifically to Canada? If need to pay extra, how much?
Also, please recommend me netbooks with price range below 1.1k. I'm leaning towards AMD C-50 because graphic power is better, fullHD playback is better and a little bit more future proof as things as getting more graphic intensive. Requirement is that battery life should be reasonable, not overheat. 2GB minimum RAM, as my experience with 1GB RAM on Windows 7 is very painful. Prefer FreeDOS but if come with Windows 7 also I don't mind.
Asus Eee PC, Toshiba ND550d, Acer Aspire One 770? Not really sure. Quite sad that DM1z is out of budget, rm1.4k.
Recently changed my plan. If laptop offer international warranty, I will get a temporary netbook for assignments first, then get a better one next year and go overseas. Hopefully by next year, around August AMD Trinity is out already.

Something good happened today and therefore my budget has been increased to 1.5k. Currently looking at E-350 APUs. There's HP DMz1, the classic favourite. Good reviews, low temp. Then there's the Dell Inspiron m102z.(strangely not in the Notebook Price Catalog) at the same price but with extra 2GB of RAM and a better webcam. Then there's MSI U270 and Asus 1215B. Which I believe aren't in Malaysia yet, and there are no news on WHEN it is coming. Sad, because these 2 have USB 3.0. So what are your recommendation?
