Haha, why ppl keep putting "All except Acer" eh. Their bad reputation several years ago still haunted them till now smile.gif

A43SV
N43SL, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M@RM2699[2.4kg][Bang & Olufsen] *No USB3.0
N43SL (Jay-Chou edition), i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M@RM2799[Bang & Olufsen], *USB3.0, Colors: Gold/Red
U41Sv, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M@RM2999[2.14kg]

I am in your situation as well. Currently I am aiming my sight at U41SV and U46SV. Portability and 7+ hours usage on battery is important for me.

Holy shit... 11 hours... damn. i3 and i5 has some voltage/wattage right. So, this result could be extrapolated to i5 too?

Thanks Alex for the link. Review for this unit is realy really scarce LMAO.

I am compiling Vostro 3550 vs U31SD vs U41SV (as well as HD3000 vs 520 vs 540). Pretty interesting finding LOL.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question.
Can anybody give an equivalent amd graphic card compare to nvidia. I am not used to amd graphic vard, so it quite hard for me when I want to compare the specs.

Very informative regarding SandyBridge HD3000, nVidia and ATI range of card. This article absolutely clear my confusion regarding mobile graphic card.

Finally, Ivan made up his mind. Go go for JC.
Ironically, my wife also interested in JC (red color) edition. I perfectly agree with Lee_What. Despite I like the USB3 features, I'm not really fond with the LCD lid decoration biggrin.gif

In the near future, all external drive will utilize usb3.0.
Even my 4 month old Western Digital Passport (cheapo 500GB) also USB3. The different using it at usb 2 and usb 3 port is night and day.

Even my casing (PC) doesn't has front USB 3.0 port, I am willing to crawl under the table, to connect the external drive to USB 3.0 port at the back LOL....especially when want to copy multi gigabyte files la. If less than 1 GB, waste of time only.. haha biggrin.gif

------------------------------------------

For Asus series, I dearly hope this upcoming PC Fair will have U46SV. U41SV is a no go for me because of lack of USB3 T_T. According some review, U31SD has flimsy build quality.

In the other hand, If I am willing to forgo GT540 (and save RM440 at the same time), I could buy Vostro 3350. Benchmark shows that this notebook could last 9.5 hours wooo. (Battery benchmark tool, not idle LOL). Plus, got eSATA, USB3.0, backlit keyboard, matte screen. The bad news, it is heavy for 13 inch laptop and have to deal with ugly battery bulge.....haiz, sakit mata.

Your very wrong.... But thx anyway.......... earlier USB 3.0 drives only get about 50mbyte/sec sequential.......... (e.g. Buffalo, WD)
*
I beg to differ. I agree with T.J. Mine one can reach 90 MBps easily when transferring hundreds of GB (mainly HD movie) from my internal hdd to exernal hdd using toaster type external casing. I use Samsung F3. Internally, sequential speed of this drive can reach more than 120 MBps.

WD Pasport (2.5 inch) transfer speed up to 65-70 MBps.

If small files, the transfer speed could degrade significantly.

Mobo: Asus P67 Pro.

Haha, very very true. I rather 7zip them first -> transfer -> extract. Much faster LOL.
