Roughly 15% performance. But still a staggering 40% increase in performance on average for the 'crippled' over the GT540M.
Some parts of the GPU have been reduced in functionality and disabled to make it weaker.
*
WAFFFAAAAAAAAAKKK??? So the Asus N45 actually has reduced performance from the GPU? Why the hell would they do that? Saving costs?
Pure ones are expensive is it?

lets say pure ones are 60% stronger than gt 540m...

the criplesd ones are stil at least 40% stronger than gt 540m...

it's still worth he 2.8k...

^^
as to why they cripple it.. duno... save cost maybe. lolx... or dun let it compete wit their own G series? hmm.gif
*
That is just downright ridiculous. Darn all these system engineers!
So, either way, it's still stronger than the regular GT540M eh?
Oh well, good enough for me!

M14x i5 variant is slightly cheaper, but with the same Type B1 GT555m
Alienware Alienware M14x, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT555M (1.5GB)@RM4199[Klipsch], backlit keyboard
*
Holy shite. I'd rather get me a i7 with the crippled GT555M.
I mean, sure, you get amazing GPU power, but the the CPU power is just ridiculous at that point.
But that's the whole idea of an Alienware right? Total gaming experience.

This is nice. I would get this myself, but then, hey, I don't have that spending power yet.
But all in all, I think it's a good one.

Well, the thing is the battery is integrated... and its not particularly good for the batteries when the laptop gets hot (which it will) sad.gif
Other than that, its very good
*
But then...aren't Macs the same? hmm.gif

Most Macs don't have dedicated GPU and seldom got ppl use them for gaming haha..
Also the internal cooling system may differ as well sad.gif

Anyway, review of the 4830Tg here: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Acer-A...ok.53433.0.html
*
True. Haha. But it seems that so many people are buying Macbooks. Is it just for the sake of Brand name?
Oh and about the heat killing the battery.
Does using a cooling pad (CM X2) sufficient? Or taking out the battery would be best?
I also sometimes use it in Air-Conditioned environment. So how?

Well its up to you.... even my M14x's battery is integrated sad.gif
Personally Cooler pads can only do so much... When you're gaming, it'll definitely get hot, air cons may help abit, but still not as good as simply removing the battery  cry.gif
*
So, a gaming laptop is basically killing its own battery? That's harsh. Are Alienwares good for doing things other than games? My friend says that it is actually pretty slow in rendering and office work. Though games....that's the best for them.

That very much depends on specifications.... though Alienwares are generally more expensive compared to other notebooks with similar CPU and GPU nod.gif
My M14x works better than a data analysis machine than a gaming one laugh.gif
Love it~  thumbup.gif

Ah is that so? I sure like the Alienwares' designs though. The build quality and such. And the lights, Oh God the lights. They're wonderful. So if your battery is integrated, what do you do to keep it under check? To prevent as much decay in the battery as possible?

I always make sure my laptop is in air-conditioned room.. that's the best I could do... especially when gaming or running analyses nod.gif
At least the battery is placed at the coolest part of the laptop... so its not as bad as directly beside the air vents laugh.gif
*
Ahh...I could do that. Anyways, when you were checking out the N45, what do you give it? From 1-10.

Hmm, I would give it a mere 6... its rather disappointing considering that I've always liked N series (apart from this one)... imho, the N81V and N43 were the best (almost bought them) wub.gif
Anyway, I've left some comments on these laptops in the notebook price catalog (if you don;t know haha)  icon_rolleyes.gif

Which N43? Because there's a lot. LULZ. I mean, the Jay Chou edition is absolutely uhm....ridiculous. I hate the design. The regular seems nice. I love the U design for Asus. A mere 6? DANG. And that is only for the build quality am I correct?

My sister is looking to buy a laptop.
She only use them for movies and surfing.
So maybe the screen or speaker is important?
She likes colors.
Budget is RM2k maximum.
Biggest would be 14".

Biggest 14'', so can go to 10'' like Toshiba N520? laugh.gif
*
Can maybe....she watches movies using DVDs lol. So yeah....
Well...I think maybe 10" is a tad bit too small lol.
So maybe around 13 to 14?
And there should be color choices too.

DVD, pretty much restricted to 14''..
Colour choice, there's HP G4, Asus A43Sj, Vaio VPCEG16EG
But Asus A-series, its speaker isn't that loud..
*
Okay...well....at least all of them have nice color choices.
So cross Asus out....

Then that leaves the G4 and Vaio.
Uhh....any problems with any of these? Or are these two models pretty good on the long lasting side?

Devour's brief review on G4, but its speaker is consider loud...
Have no idea on the Vaio, rarely saw its user..

Yeahh...I don't think my sister will notice all the other things except the speaker and screen. LOL.
Alright, will tell her about them. She will definitely take the pink. sleep.gif
Thanks yeah. Cheers
