The N45 according to LYN front page, only Core i5.
Acer Ethos series, when it comes, usually near RM5K..

and 5 hours in doing what?
With the Asus 56Wh battery, you would need to reduce the usage till -10mW which pretty much wifi with lowest brightness and no flash..

Yes I am waiting for new Asus models but as I said I am not sure about battery life
It is really important for me to be at least 5 hours
Also as I said I hate Lenovo design  biggrin.gif
*
5 hours + performance, definitely the M14x brows.gif
i5 processor + 8-cell battery will guarantee a relatively longer battery life~
But then you'd have to omit the "slim and light" criteria laugh.gif

Other than that, there's really no other alternatives at the moment apart from the ones mentioned by Ivan

Brand: Any
Budget: 2 to 2.5k, the lower the spending the better.
Usage: Everything - assignment, Photoshop, gaming, simulation.
Size: Doesn't matter as long as the monitor is 14" minimum.

I have seen the following model in Kuching:
Aspire 4755G-2414G64
Aspire 5750G-2414G64
Satellite L755-1009X

Had a really hard time choosing between Dell XPS 15 and HP dv6-6114tx...

XPS 15 RM3945
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64bit (English)
2nd generation Intel® Core™ i5-2410M processor 2.30 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 2.90 GHz
McAfee® Security Center - 15 Months Version
15.6" (39.6cm) FHD (1920x1080) B+RGLED display with TrueLifeâ„¢
4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM (1 x 4GB)
500GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
Tray Load Fixed Blu-ray BD-ROM / DVD + /-RW Combo Drive
Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1030 with Bluetooth v3.0+HS for Malaysia
Dellâ„¢ Backlit Keyboard (English)
6 Cell Primary Battery

dv6-6114tx RM3799
2nd generation Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM Processor
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit
8 GB DDR3 Memory
15.6" High-Definition LED HP BrightView Display
750 GB Hard Disk Drive
Beats Solo
Microsoft® Office Home and Student 2010 Software

Spec wise, dv6 is much better, but Dell's backlit keyboard and Full HD screen is very tempting. Both have Blu-ray ROM but it seems useless to me if I don't have an 1080p display..

My usage will be mainly movies and music, assignments, and light gaming. One question though..how does Dell's JBL speakers compare to HP's beats audio? Is it a lot different? Audio quality is very important to me...

ya dell has subwoofer which will produce amazing bass hp has no subwoofer so no bass ..beats audio is good when you wanna listen through using your headphones ..also i heard touchpad of hp is less smooth than dell ..go for dell if you can spend more than 3k.

Hi guys,

I'm amazed that there are so many Good Samaritans willing to help! Would be grateful for help with looking for a laptop with the following specs.
1. Brand: No preference in particular, sexy will do XD
2. Budget: RM2.5k or less?
3. Specs by importance (highest to lowest)
i) Battery life, battery life, battery life. (>5hrs would be lovely!)
ii) TV/Movies so preferably good speakers and built in HDMI (I'm currently spoilt by Harman/Kardon speakers on my Toshiba with some impressive bass!)
iii) 3 or more usb ports
iv) RTS gaming once in awhile
4. Size : 13-14" will do so long as it's light.

I was this close to going for Macbook Pro 13" but it's quite pricey. And I'm inclined to try Mac's intuitive Lion OS which just came out - pinch n zoom, virtual desktop, impressive startup time, all those shortcuts, ard 6 hrs battery life.. Sigh, how la.... lol

So definitely need a second opinion here! Thanks in advance smile.gif

Can consider these:
Asus N43SL, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M@RM2699[2.4kg][Bang & Olufsen] *No USB3.0
Asus N43SL (Jay-Chou edition), i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M@RM2799[Bang & Olufsen], *USB3.0, Colors: Gold/Red
Acer TimelineX 4830TG, i5-2410M + GT540M@RM2499[2.2kg]

Asus N43Sl has better speakers, whereas Acer TimelineX has longer battery life laugh.gif

Gaming is considered very normal for certain people laugh.gif
It'll be great if you could share your usage... is the laptop only for surfing the net/ watch movies only? or are there any special programs you had in mind for the laptop? laugh.gif
