Have you guys ever cross a vacancy for designer which offers high salary? There is.....but so rare to find. I personally think that designers in Malaysia are underpaid. Normally designers are paid for around RM1000 to RM1200. Even worse, RM800 per month! Designers is a creative related job which combines technical and inspiration. Do you guys think that this group should get a better standard of salary? Should propose this to prime minster

which type of designer you are referring to? engineering? shirt? house?

web designers, dtp designers.

ive never seen 1k-1.2k seriously. the lowest maybe 1.4-1.6. but most that i know are getting around 1.6 1.8, some with more exp are about 3k-5k

wtf? web designer earning 1.2k? do they have degree or just spm grad?

if degree with 1.2k better go do normal office job

I think web designers are still getting sort of decent pay. What I know is those DTP and graphic designers quite often receive offers which does not have a good pay.

But also don't forget that if you can multitask and depending on what other knowledge you have in this field. Designers these days must know everything already to get a decent pay, like having a good art sense, being able to design/handle websites with knowledge in various coding language and so on.

Yeah I saw lots of ads searching for designers and offering around RM1.2k. Mostly from small companies. I do understand that they need to cut down expenses but paying a low salary will end up with unsatisfactory work

Yeah do freelance....but you have to bare the risk....anyhow everything has a risk right?

Freelancing means part time. u can meet up client during weekends. u still get to keep ur day job

What risk you refer to? I think being a freelancer, it is because the risk is small;free hours ...

But everything is on your own. My friend last time being a web freelancer able to earn some awesome money.

The risk is not having a steady income....sometimes you got so much and sometimes you don't even have any project.

i makan gaji just to gain skill, exp n network. moneh comes later when i go freelancing. Network is good in getting client n sub a job to ur trusted skilled friend dat wont screw u up

Yeah....makan gaji and doing freelance at the same time would need a very good time management. Some people can do it and most can't. By the way any designer in here having underpay salary? Share with us

If u feel u r underpay, and think that u r more worthwhile, then probably its time for u to look for another job

I did not say 1.2k is decent, what I said was there are many web designers who are getting decent pay.

P/S: Those who are offered 1.2k should look elsewhere, with such low pay, that particular company might think that a web designer's contribution does not worth much to them.
