the things is expedition team wiped out just not long ago. and protoss are not stupid( they are SUPER SMARTER THAN HUMAN) and if they wiped out the base that will definitely will alarm the mobius and taken more serious move on tal'darim. or maybe tal'darim is actually baiting them and wipe them once and for all... for that Valerian part.... Dominion is RICH..... loosing handy of marines cost nothing(50 mineral) to them anyway... u try and count how many marine u lost in a campaign...
