Hi, hackintosh noob here. I'd like to ask for help from all sifus here. Here goes:

My specs:
Gigabyte H61MA-D2V
i5-3450
Apacer 8GB 1333Mhz
Seagate Barracuda 160GB
EVGA GTS 250

Installed ML using Unibeast (USB thumbdrive). *Had to use PCIRootUID=0 command at Unibeast boot screen, else the screen goes blank, installation won't continue.
Upon 1st boot into ML, Ethernet, graphics, processor, RAM all recognized, working well. Only thing missing is sound which is corrected by installing the ACL887 (without DSDT) in Multibeast.
The problem is when i rebooted the computer, it gets stuck at the screen "missing boot record" after self test.
I can only boot back into the working ML via Unibeast.
If i install Easybeast / UserDSDT or DSDT-free installation in Multibeast, it then reboots fine but it knocks out my audio and ethernet.

Any ideas?
Is chimera / chameleon installation necessary?

Thanks

Yes, chimera/chameleon is required.
*
I am now dualbooting ML and Windows 7 in a single HDD.
Windows 7 was installed 1st, working well. Proceeded with ML installation via Unibeast (as above post), working well.

Upon installing Chimera/Chameleon, it brought me to the screen prompting me to choose OSX /Windows. Booting into Windows is fine. Booting into OSX gets me stuck at a white screen with Apple logo. Ran unibeast again with -v, stuck at
ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin: :registerLPCDriver - failed to locate SMC driver.

Pls point me to the exact kext to install. This is the umphteenth time i installed ML...
Thanks

Get the latest Multibeast 5.1 and install FakeSMC.
*
I used the fakeSMC r615 from osx86.net but was stuck at the same place as before.
Yet to try Multibeast 5.1.1. I went for the fakeSMC from osx86.net because i can't install only fakeSMC using Multibeast. It is "packaged" together with other kexts in Easybeast and UserDSDT/DSDT Free Installation, which after installation will knock out my audio and ethernet.

Any ideas on how to install only fakeSMC from Multibeast 5.1.1? Is the fakeSMC in Multibeast same as the one offered in osx86.net?

Thanks

I've just downloaded the latest Multibeast 5.1.2 (just released today), fiddled with it a bit, realized there is actually fakeSMC kext (standalone) in the Miscellanous drivers. How could i've missed it doh.gif
Will definitely try installing it tonight.
Do i have to install the fakeSMC plugins as well?

Thanks

The plugins is good to have, you can HWMonitor and have it showing all the temp & speed too .. I like it and my status monitor shows the CPU multiplier, so I know most of the time, the CPU is not strained smile.gif

Installed fakeSMC from Multibeast 5.1.2. Upon rebooting, managed to get to white screen with Apple logo, then all is blank and monitor goes to sleep.
Tried PCIRootUID and GraphicsEnabler commands at chimera bootloader - no help.
I think it has booted into OSX because i hear Mac sounds when i randomly press on the keyboard, just that i can't see anything. Here are my specs again if anyone can help.

Gigabyte H61MA-D2V
i5-3450
Apacer 8GB 1333Mhz
Seagate Barracuda 160GB

Yes. When booting up with Unibeast, i always have to key in PCIRootUID=0, otherwise the screen goes blank.

If i'm using tonymac's chimera bootloader, it should be /Extra/org.chimera.boot.plist that i'm editing right?

So, just to make sure. Booting at chimera using PCIRootUID and GraphicsEnabler commands won't cut it, the bootloader's plist needs to be edited right?

Do you need to do anything when booting up using Unibeast? If yes, you need to add the same thing into /Extra/org.chameleon.boot.plist

Set the PCIRootUID to 0 and GraphicsEnabler to Yes for your card.

<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>PCIRootUID=0</string>
<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>Yes</string>
*
I looked and looked but could not find /Extra folder nor the file org.chameleon.boot.plist. I even executed the Terminal command to reveal all hidden files - just couldn't find them. Installed both Chimera, then Chameleon bootloaders, still no such file/folder in root.
But if i install Easybeast / UserDSDT, the file & folder appear but knocks out my audio and ethernet. Pls help.
Thanks

Can show me the guidelines of your installation or where you refer to?
I'm going to do a dualbooting hackintosh soon but not yet prepare well on installation steps.

Check this link out:

It's for SL but will do for ML. I didn't have to execute the Terminal commands in Step 4 though. Chimera brings me to the bootscreen where i can choose which OS to boot into. If u put Windows in the primary partition, u can use EasyBCD instead to go to the bootscreen to choose OSes. Hope this helps smile.gif

Is it ok if i just create the file named org.chameleon.boot.plist and put it in the /Extra folder in root, with the following lines in the plist file:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>PCIRootUID=0</string>
<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>Yes</string>
</dict>
</plist>

No other files in the /Extra folder like DSDT and stuff. Will it still work?

Created the /Extra folder, put org.chameleon.boot.plist in. Managed to boot into ML without Unibeast for the 1st time. rclxms.gif

Now, moving on to upgrade to 10.8.2.... wish me luck.

Thanks wiraone smile.gif

I tried looking for my MBs DSDT, can't find it. I found some programs that can extract and edit my own MB DSDT, but i'll leave that for another time. This Hackintosh business is really taxing. Thanks once again for ur help smile.gif

Added on October 19, 2012, 9:42 amMy hackintosh went to sleep after 15 minutes. Didn't have to setup anything.
In short, it was relatively easy setting up OSX on my current rig using only Unibeast and Multibeast. With 2 reboots, the OSX is up and running. No need to dig up DSDTs and stuff. Like u've mentioned, Gigabyte MBs are the way to go for hackintoshing.

Hi,

Any recommendations for USB Wifi Adapters that will run with Hackintosh?

Think my on-board LAN got zapped during a thunderstorm. The LED isn't flashing and it is non-existent in OSX.

Thanks

I would suggest you try out those DIY mini PCIe Wireless module. I brought the component from ebay. It support Airdrop, dual band, very stable and price is not expensive.

Looks complicated. I did google up PCIe network adapters from brands like Dlink, Aztech, TPlink but all of them has got no Mac support. I might be ordering a USB WIFI adapter by Aztech though, WL562USB - seems to support Mac according to its documentation. Will update if it works. Thanks for ur links smile.gif

Not complicated at all. You just need to buy these 2 components, plug in the mini pcie wifi card to the adapter. Plug the assembled into your motherboard. Your Hackintosh will recognized straight.
I am glad with its performance especially dual band support. My house is full with 2.4Ghz devices. With my recent upgrade to dual band router (Asus RT-AC66U). Now only got 3 devices (Hackintosh, MBP and Ipad3) connected under 5Ghz band. Less crowded.

Thanks for your advice.

I bought the above for rm89. Mac drivers are for Lion but installs and runs fine in MLion as well as Windows 7 smile.gif

Dear fellow forumers. I started reading into Hackintosh a few days ago. I came across tonymac website and decided to attempt Unibeast Mojave and Catalina on my old PC - i5 3450, Gigabyte H61MA-D2V motherboard, 1050ti graphics card. I managed to boot from the Unibeast USB but met with the STOP sign after the Apple logo. Attempt aborted.
Today, I spent the whole night assembling the High Sierra Opencore USB. The problem is, the PC doesn't recognize the USB upon booting although the BIOS recognizes it as a UEFI boot media. Is it possible that the previous Unibeast USB messed with the BIOS? I've tried resetting the CMOS but the Opencore USB is still not detected.

Please help. I'd appreciate any feedbacks.

Dear fellow forumers.
The following are my PC specs:
Gigabyte Aorus B450 I Pro Wifi
Ryzen 5 2600
Asus RX 580
Samsung EVO 860 SSD

I managed to boot into Mac installation menu using Opencore 0.5.9 (Bootable USB created in Windows). However, I was asked for internet connection when trying to proceed with OSX installation. By right the USB drive should contain all required files for a complete OSX installation. Any ideas what I did wrongly?

There is possibility you didn't download the full installer. Maybe incremental version.

I see. Let me try again. Thanks

I presume u r using the gibmacos guide?

if that is the case, u need to connect to internet via cable in order to complete the installation process, it will take some time.
*
Indeed I am using gibmacos based on Dortania. The instructions for Windows are for creating recovery USBs only. I wonder why.

Anyway, I found a workaround
http://aplus.rs/2020/opencore-first-steps/

Booting with 2 USB drives. Opencore for booting and the other for OSX installation.

The installation was quite uneventful. I got audio working right away. I'm not sure why the CPU is I5 though

Managed to get Archer TU9H working as well for WIFI

I actually find Hackintosh for AMD much more straightforward to make compared to Intel.

Thanks for your guidance fellow forumers smile.gif
