What year/model is your Mac mini? Does it support OSX 10.8?

I've no idea about MacMini, but I had an MBA before which doesn't allow me to boot from USB, so ended up reinstalling the OS via the net too.

Nothing much going on with Hackintosh world nowdays eh? This thread was buried to few pages in the forum I haven't done much on my setup either, and for those interested, you're not limited to Gigabyte motherboards only, but before starting to build your Hackintosh, do check if your motherboard is supported. I'm using ASUS and have been happy running it for two years now, updated to the latest OSX without any problem. Latest addition to my setup is for the wireless card TPLINK WND48000 which works out of box.

There goes the fun of it when you just build, install and everything works out of box. When I tried to get mine going, it was a bit hard at first, few things just couldn't work as they supposed to be, sleep doesn't work, shutdown sometime doesn't work either. But after about 6 months playing about, it is as stable as Apple hardware now. BTW, my mobo is Asus .. with locked BIOS before some geniuses able to cracked the BIOS.

About tonymac, I don't want to get involved in the battle .. I'll surely suggest a method with less manual work with higher success rate when doing the hackintosh.

There is where Chameleon comes to play. You can have it prompt which OS need to be loaded. I've my BIOS boot image into gray screen, so it is less like PC, more like the real Mac

If you want warranty & good support, go for the real thingy. I will not recommend to run hackintosh in production or commercial environment.

Nice, imac was my first real Mac I had, mine was the original bondi blue. Are you going to replace the CRT tube with TFT instead? Not much space if you're trying to use the tube.

I did an upgrade from the combo update and updated my sound using multibeast, everything seems to work alright. I don't have USB3 nor bluetooth, so no problem with them.

What do you agree on?

I'm running VMWare Fusion to beat that problem, tho' I've never run games on it.

Can you share with us the ebay seller? Interestingly, I've never thought of buying PC or monitor over ebay

Since maverick is available now and for FREE, am going to update to it today. Only thing that I'm afraid of is compatibility with some apps especially vmware fusion.

Kuntau, did you do a fresh installation or on top of your existing installation? Creating the USB installer now and thinking of going for fresh as what I did on ML.

Done with a Mavericks fresh install .. everything works as they should.

Grrr .. two things gone wrong:

1. Email rebuilding gone haywire, the subject doesn't tally with the content of my email. So, deleting the folder and let it sync again.

2. My damn printer doesn't work, no idea if they've changed anything on the printing part .. the driver downloaded from Brother for my HL2140 doesn't work .. arggh!

It seems that the driver works if I connected the printer directly to the PC but not when using cups to print it off the print server. Double triple checked, the same as my setup on my MBP (ML).

Your motherboard & processor should be fine, follow the normal procedures for installation:
