I am planning to get an Xbox 360 Slim 250GB and Kinect , may I know the pros and cons to having a US Xbox or a Asian Xbox ?

its better to buy asian consoles. Cheaper games $45-55 compare to $60, retail games. Asian game supplies easier to acquire.

well after checking on TS, his a PS3 guy... the "I know about region lock and games" its probably the R1 R2 R3 thinggy...thats all he knows...

If im not mistaken, there are some games title that are only for meant for US region..

but i'd still go for Asian consoles due to games availability...
i have a friend who got a gift from his father in law, a US version of xbox slim..
all this while, he's just playing with 1 game.. DIRT3... how sad is dat?
he said its hard to find compatible games that he likes from local game shop...

If you do want to get a 360, it's really not advisable for you to get a US one.

The major cons are you probably need a step down transformer, you won't be able to play asian ntsc-j releases unless they are specifically region free.

Unlike the PS3, the DLC that is available to you is not tied down to your game region. Xbox360 DLC is "mostly" region free and will work irrespective of the game region as long as it can be played on your xbox. Also, asian versions of games are far cheaper than their american counterparts.

But varieties of games still PS3 ahead xbox.. Xbox do have the actual figure of games, just that we, asia has fewer games series....

US can only play US region games and DLC.
ASIA can only play ASIA region games and DLC.
but some games are region free.
since u live here, ASIA version is recommendable.

both set has its 1 year warranty in its own country.

games are region lock based on country, in malaysia its best you buy SG Set.

u should get asian xbox if u live in this region

Well it might not have region lock...but the the keyhole might get spoiled if not compatibe region...

how to get old titles for asian Xbox... shops doent really restock old titles... it seems like just one go once released... once finish no more..

i think my xbox can play US and Asia games..just now bought no more heroes paradise Jp and gears of war 2 US..and they both work

Actually US version of Gears Of War 2 got no region lock.

not just GoW2...also RDR,Shadows of the damned,Vanquish are all NTSC-U,they all work for me

Although xbox360 games are marketed across the globe with different region labeling, some are region-locked while some others aren't.

And btw, if i'm not mistaken, games for asian market are cheaper than NTSC-UC on its release (by USD10).

Are Asian Set = Japan Set ? or both are different set ?

Either order from them or buy 2nd hand from other LYN forumers who willing to sell in reasonable price, at least this is what I always do.
