Trance, this can help to lower boot time even further:

http://www.blackviper.com/2010/12/17/black...configurations/
That took the majority of my time when I was working on my laptop. Also, one other forumer mentioned. DELETE any antivirus you have and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials. The generic ones are utter crap honestly.
So far tests on my N43SN have been fine. Vent gets hot when gaming obviously.

is it wise to update bios? my pc and laptop for the past 10 years has never update bios lol.
*
actually it's not wise to update your BIOS specially for laptops if you know that ur current BIOS is safe. Anyway, some of us here update to latest(version 206) and it's safe.

I updated my via Asus EZ flash

wat kind of pros other than bigger screen? how can a 15" has better battery life than 14"? iirc both 6 cells right?

btw trance y dont u close ur v2 thread?
*
lol actually N43SL got better battery life cause it's using i5 dual core while N53SN is using i7 quad core. So obviously i5 will have a longer battery life.
Honestly if both 15" and 14" laptop having the same specs, i think the battery life would also be same.

btw, u comparing N53SN and N43SL????

The average battery life for N43 is ? As not all of you guys can get 8hours+
*
i really dunno how he get 8 hrs but limiting the processing power to 20% and disabling some services could actually made that possible.

for me,
i put to Battery Saving mode (50% max processing power), 90 running processes, web browsing, music playing the whole time and downloading can easily last me for more than 5 hrs.

Oh yea, im using i7 quad core. i5 dual core on the N43S obviously does not use so much power. I was kinda surprise to archive 5hrs++ on an i7 quad core. Im even more surprise to hear some1 get 8 hrs on the N43S. On the U series is possible la but surprise on the N series shocking.gif

This is the power of Asus laptops thumbup.gif

Added on July 14, 2011, 6:26 amPs : is mse good? i never tried before.. been using avira and nod32 all this time. so is mse better than avira/nod32 in virus bashing? :?
*
As claim by many forumer here, MSE is already good enough.
As long u dun go hacking ppl com or visit tons of pon sites everyday then MSE is good enough
MSE is the lightest AV so it wont slow dwn windows

Hey i'm from the UK just got my N53SN a few days back. The screen came with a load of stuck pixels on it. Trying to get the retailer to sort it out as you can't directly go to Asus apparently. Anybody had any issues like this? seems to be a manufacturing issue ><

Quick thing that i found after doing some boot time checks using the tool you guys use from the V1 forum. I had a USB mouse in first time registering 70 secs boot up and i took this out and tried again and it went down to 50 secs!

I have disabled UAC and have no password (purely for this test) just to make sure nothing else was affecting it.

Could having a USB device really stall the boot up for 20secs!?

Furthermore, the only game i have attempted to play is Silkroad Online, at current everytime i load it up at 1920x1080 with that resolution setting in the game client. It always shows up like its too large to fit on screen. I have tried adjusting the resolution whilst this is open and the only way i can show it alright is to plug the HDMI cable into my TV and adjust it that way to a custom size.  Its a royal pain in the ass!  vmad.gif
*
1. I think your GPU is faulty or do you still have a faulty motherboard? ur Asus laptop should have a sticker saying New Revision Certified Design

2. When using BootTimer, make sure u press RUN as quickly as possible as the time is still running. I really dun think ur USB mouse is effecting the boot up time. I always have my wireless mouse receiver plug into the laptop. Rarely pull it out.

3. Maybe is the game problem??? or maybe when ur playing the game it's actually using Intel's GPU??? Try and make sure the white lights appears when playing the game

PS: off topic....another Simon laugh.gif

I tried updating the driver through device manager but yeah that was stupid. Where can i get the latest one? (I'm not currently able to access my lappie atm)

With the USB boot up thing, It was when i had my Razer Naga and just my fan cooler plugged in. I'll try it with my 1TB HDD aswell.

The retailer said they had to check with Asus about it, i dont know what the policy is but when i went on the Asus help site regarding repairs it said contact the retailer so i'm stuck for now. Been waiting a month for this and when i get it, its not 100% ARRGH!
*
lol chill bro. You can never get a perfect laptop.

Anyway, i nvr trust device manager to update my drivers.
Try to go to:
Nvidia website = for getting latest graphic driver
Intel's website = for latest graphic driver. Incase u din know, the Intel's GPU is called HD3000/2000. So search a driver for it biggrin.gif
Asus website = Get the latest BIOS and update it via EZ Flash

Also, i din the whole pixel thing should be covered by Asus instead your retailer. Try contacting Asus Service Center
