Hello. I'm new here in this forum. smile.gif

I was planning to upgrade my laptop's RAM(memory).

My laptop brand is Acer Aspire 4738G.. So i just need to send my laptop to the Acer service center to get upgraded? Or any random computer services shop?

And does anyone know the price of upgrade? (i'm having 2GB ram now, planning to upgrade it to 4GB or perhaps 8GB)

I think 4GB would costs you RM200 more or less and 4GB is enough for everything unless you are doing video editing or heavy memory apps..

If you want to DIY, go here :-

http://www.kingston.com/asia/

Go to "Memory Search" to find the right type of RAM for your notebook.

You can buy the said RAM from shops in Low Yat Plaza and install it to notebook is just easy, just need unscrew one or two screw and remove the cover.

Any computer shops selling notebooks will be able to install and upgrade your notebook RAM...
2GB PC1333 DDR3 are about RM50...
4GB PC1333 DDR3 are about RM100...
Just make sure your Windows is 64-bit version...
Because 32-bit version can only support max 3GB RAM...

biggrin.gif

my laptop is in 64 bit so i think it can support up to 4GB+
RM100 for 4GB Ram is quite worth and afford-able..

2GB+4GB=6GB.. haha biggrin.gif I need rams for gaming and video editing.. Tho i had a decent ATI graphic card right now.. smile.gif (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470) Wonder if the graphic card could goes well with 6GB Ram..

6GB won't do anything to gaming if you have that kind of graphic card... 4gb max... just my opinion.

consider ddr3 ram is so cheap now. you may still invest on 4gb ram plus your existing ram become 6gb. although performance wise nothing much the diff.... but you may think for the other way that in case ur 2gb ram got problem, u may still take it out and ur system will runs at 4gb ram.

rclxub.gif What? I thought a computer/laptop will run faster with higher ram..? cry.gif And does ram actually increase your gaming experience (I mean the game's frame rate - Frame Per Second rate, not the graphic duh) icon_question.gif

Game frame rate is depends on your graphic card. There is a memory and processing rate in Graphic Card.

See the game require spec before you play smile.gif

offline game usually require high end graphic card,

where online game just normal graphic card will do smile.gif
