Yeah.. thin spoke then can see my stock and tiny non slotted, non cross-drilled, 2 pot non Brembo brakes ady.. biggrin.gif
And somemore i dont like slowing down at humps and there are too many potholes in KL.. The one in the pic is Ori TE-37.. Cost around 3k+

if put 18'' can only for outlook...
i duno la...so far got PE install 17'' pegasus or not?
cant find picture...i dun mind 18'' but seems like there is no 18''
n 18'' if i install...if drive bumpy road then sure habis...

Pickup will be affected lah.. But top speed surely will increase.. That time u turbocharged or install Hi-cam then can increase a lot of power ady..
Yeah i have seen a few Persona with Pegasus b4.. Quite a few are on the road.. Very easy to spot too..
U want to know how bumpy 18" is then go test drive Lancer GT.. THe ori one of cos.. Not the buatan msia punya. tongue.gif laugh.gif

lol...not suitable for persona. 17" looks small?? omg. hahaha~~i always think that the rim that is too big look awkward as when look into the rim i saw a really small brake inside XD
opps..now saga running 6 speed. i assumed it is nissan's tech. if previously the nissans not having problem with CVT then the probability of saga having CVT problem will be lesser lah. but to compared proton driver and nissan driver that rev their car, ermmm...speechless.
one more noob question ah. wats FnF??
lol..so if u really intended to change to 18" must go install slotted, cross drilled brake edi XD. no money to buy brembo so buy the cover hhahahaha~~wasai. 3k+ for rims. i wonder i will spend that money or not.

our persona using 2pot. wats the difference ah??

Added on July 24, 2011, 8:43 pmhmm...proven our Persona cant run with camry XD lol...summore i go run with them. 2.4 total smoked. 2.0 camry still wont left out.
*
The pegasus looks like a block.. I dont think u can even see the brakes inside it too.. biggrin.gif
Yeah the nissan CVT is quite ok.. Mb they use the Latio CVT transmission.. Not really good IMO (in my opinion).. I went and test drove the nissan latio ady.. Not nice to drive, severely underpowered, very light and bouncy and the interior is super cheapo looking.. shakehead.gif
FnF means fast and furious.. haha..
brakes have these pistons which presses the brake pads onto the disc.. The more pots there is the more power it has lah.. 2pots is the minimum u can go.. high performance ones like evo's have 6pot.. The highest i have ever seen is 12pot..

latio one ah. hmm...the latio sedan not that nice. prefered the hatchback. nissan is good in developing fast car like GTR. but why the performance of the other car is a bit poor ahh..so far i think sentra and cefiro still ok, the other i dun like edi.
wow..only introduce to zeng.
*
all the experienced one went to develop the GTR and 370z ady.. Other than that the freshies just graduate all in charge of the latio and march etc.. So thats y the performance and quality difference..
The hatchback also same lah.. I drove the hatchback one..
Hehe.. The job is a part time one lah.. Just working for a while so can get my Rims and ICE done up..

yaya~~no lah just saying. hahaha~~coz now damn boring.
mine is the persona that is not elegance. haiz. tried b4. is a waste of money. u wont get more km out of it. but i get is smoother acceleration, engine sound nicer when revving. but my friend saga SE is able to get more km out of ron97. hahaha~~

Saga itu carburettor engine.. those old engines are suited for higher rons..

any bad effect to engine if use RON95?

Nope.. My car mileage is 21k km ady.. Except for my 3rd tank, all the way i was using RON95.. No problems.. We have tested all the petrol brands available, only RON95.. The best petrol for power is Caltex Techron 95.. very good power but FC is a bit higher. The best balance for power and FC is Esso 95..

QUOTE(Cavino @ Jul 24 2011, 11:13 PM)
I have never heard of any CVT having any problems when VTEC kick in. I'm quite active in TeamCity club before and there is absolutely no prob with CVT vs VTEC. Some Audi's are using CVTs, high rev engine no prob. There's many type of CVTs. For City, the CVT are meant for FCs, not high revving.

The main reason Honda junk the CVT is not becoz of premature spoilage. It's more becoz most Asian (thats the target market of City) on this target market, the younger to 30s market prefer a more revvy transmission. Honda CVT does not give any satisfaction of revving as it control it tightly for max torque vs Fc balance. Its a bit more fragile vs the avg auto tranny.

FYI, the new Altis is using CVTs, so does many of other bigger cc and larger segment cars that usually goes long distance as well, just not revvy type.

The rubber band affect are mostly due to the above mentioned tight control to balance max torque vs fc, thus for most ppl that are used to auto way of tekan minyak and tekan more than it really needs to, the car will pull back to suit the smooth raising for torque/fc increment thus the so-call lag.

If you sit in my City while I'm driving, you can never feel any lag nor rubber band effect, coz if you know how to drive the way CVT are meant to be driven, albeit slower 0-100 increment (less revvy), the torque is there fully.

Unfortunately for Honda, the misjudge the way most Asian at 30s or less drive...unlike those in Japan where CVT were used a lot for FC saving and smooth driving.

btw. Honda used the wrong ATF for CVT tranny early on thus lots of CVT failed during the earlier generation of City's CVT. These failures gave a bad impression on the durability of CVT tranny. Most of those tranny that used the corrected CVTF a year or 2 later has very little failure rate. Also similar to failure rate of avg auto tranny.
*
Oic.. I tested the Slyphy last time.. Damn that transmission.. press press like no kick.. But it will hold the revs and the speed will rise gradually only.. But the Latio hatch that car transmission feels like its even more laggy than Persona.. U cant feel any power at all..

Really hard to choose~ between M-line and B-line ><. M-line more features but B-line cheaper. Any recommendation?

By the way, based on the past experience, don't think its a good idea to buy the new persona or saga launch next year. Bcoz its first batch product~ Any thoughts?
*
I would suggest going for M Line.. Im a bline owner myself.. M line has drivers airbag, so at least u will still be alive to get ur next car if there was a terrible crash rather than ur name in the headlines together with a mangled Proton Persona pic in ondscene.my website. It has foldable rear seats, bigger rear seats compared to B line.. And u get alloy rims which is actually very much lighter than the steel B line rims.. And u get bodykits.. Not to forget the useless but free Lokatoo GPS which can be hacked to install Garmin XT and also the very useful control buttons for the stereo on the steering.

QUOTE(Cavino @ Jul 25 2011, 09:56 AM)
"The way a CVT works is that it utilizes the car's motor to produce the same amount % of power equal to the % of throttle. That way, your car doesn't rev up and shift through the gears, but rather it moves continuously (generally at a steady RPM) while gradually accelerating."

"The engine runs a bit faster but it stays at the same rpm when accelerating as the transmission continuously changes the ratio so the engine does not leave the max torque rpm."

Copied from one of the answers in Yahoo forum.

Inspira equal Lancer on CVT and Engine, as they're being left unmodified as per Mitsubitsu requirement. Lack of power feel has been explained in my above post. As for speed increasing fast at high speed, same happens to my City. The 2nd quote above prob explained better on this. At 4th or 5th gear ratio in auto, gear ratio stays mostly the same and pull slower..but CVT does not slow down and move at constant increment in tandem with speed increment...no out of breath feel there...the recent 6th gear addition close the gap nearer.

Still there is concern on the durability and since the latest CVT tranny tech are still consider pretty new and have not finish improving, we're still in the dark of how durable is it. Of course the more expensive the car, the better quality CVT tranny was used as those are designed for higher cc and better rev engine...

Thats leaves Proton CVT....in a gray area in terms of reliability and durability. Only time will tell..
*
But the previous time when i drove the Inspira and Lancer GT, it didnt feel like the Sylphy, u can see the revs climbing and dropping as well as the gearchange.. Mb they activate the ala Saga FLX SAT system fulltime.

QUOTE(tkyong1 @ Jul 25 2011, 10:24 AM)
hi guys,

Bought my persona SE in Mar 2009.

Now, 2 years 3 months, 48000 km, got extended warranty by Proton to 5 years / 175,000 km.

Keep perfect service record, every 5,000 km at Proton SC.

Incident:

21 July 2011:

while driving on NKVE, my SE suddenly losing power, shaking badly, park at road side, tried start, engine die off immediately after start with rattling sound in engine bay.

what made me very angry was, i called Proton i-care, the line was not available, it keeps saying the number that i dail was not available. End up called Proton SC at SS14, they arrange tow truck immediately. Proton i-care...listen carefully..you suck...when i need you, you were not there...useless.
call tow car, sent to Proton SC at SS14. Service Manager checked, found:-

- no compression in cylinder #1;
- open engine found one of the valve was broken;
- need to replace the whole cylinder head;
- if "bayar sendiri" cost = RM4k - 5k;
- of course claim extended warranty lah...still waiting for approval......

My View:
this is the first time, driving numerous cars for the past 20 years, encountered such serious problem, broken valve, got to replace the cylinder head. The most sad thing is this is a brand new car. I keep perfect service records, no one notice the problem in every service, i wonder why?

any of you have the similar problem?

i am concern after repairing will have continuous problems...really headache....losing confident on my persona already...
*
Any idea what was the reason it spoilt?
For some info, can provide what engine oil and petrol brand u have been using all these while?
Ur case seems to be rather similar with one of our forumers here, except urs is much milder case.

QUOTE(sendi @ Jul 25 2011, 12:08 PM)
hi people,

right now my mileage is already 5313km and i have not done my 5k service

and now i think my absorber is giving me problem. This is because everytime i drive, there's squeky sound from the back which is very irritating.

Sometimes my acceleration is not smooth as well like kena stuck liddat zzz.

The problem is I study in Kampar and i dun think i'll be goin back KL so soon.

LAST time i drove a BLM and had my service near bandar baru in kampar
apparently the mechanic there is not being honest and tell me last time problem here problem there
in the end the 3yrs old plus BLM had to change bearing and brake stuff which accumulate up to rm9xx PLUS Service
which my warranty that time unfortunately already expire...

so i need advice whether shud i go back KL or try my luck around MENGLEMBU which i heard from some ppl that they provide not bad service.

and OH BTW, i din noe senaxis was in the nono list until now  doh.gif , that explains why my power window had to go through at least 4 round to fix
*
The squeky sound tell them to tightened the undercarriage for u.. It should solve the prob..

QUOTE(ruztynail @ Jul 25 2011, 12:27 PM)
I'm afraid of this too. Tata why I was planning to stick by the Eon SC for the remaining EWP. I don't want to go outside service my car save a few bucks thn later engine problem. I bought mine not too far frm urs around aug 09.

My car died on LDP 7am on a Monday morning. I caused a huge jam. My engine jus died mid way going up the flyover. My Eon service expired. But lucky thing don't hv to get all those Eon or aam already. Insurance company gives free toll services! My thn Tokiomarine had the bug ass carry car type rather thn the drag one.

Problem with my car? Stupid crank switch started or some shit.

The engine on another note has allot of problems. Try googling it out. Allot of minor defects which would lead to huge mulfunctions later on.
If u guys got EWP try to stick to it.
*
Crank shaft angle sensor I presume? That has been one huge problem for Persona in the past.. Didnt know it still was creating problem now.

QUOTE(Cavino @ Jul 25 2011, 02:45 PM)
I believe you might have been running in Sport Mode. When in this mode, lancer/inspira CVT will simulate 6-speed auto tranny to over-ride the standard CVT programming and offer the "rev" feel and pulling power.

Thats the main reason you can feel gear change just like auto tranny. If you're running in the usual "D" drive mode, there is NO gear change feel....becoz there is no locked range of gear ratio like the auto tranny. The gear ratio will just creep up without any rpm dropping or gear change lags. Thats the true CVT working.

I can't remember abt lancer or inspira modes but for Honda City CVT, there are 3 modes of CVT drive. The usual standard FC based "D" Drive, the 7-speed auto mode simulating auto tranny and the 7-speed manual mode allowing manual shifting using the shift button or in case of Lancer, paddle shift stick.

Hmmm i dont see any buttons to change mode.. Only normal auto and tiptronic shifting.. The latio i tested also is like this, u can see the revs going up and down and it changes through its virtual gears.. When i asked y it wasnt the same as Sylphy then they said its cos the transmission is of different design.. rclxub.gif

URGENT !!!

My chassis are already there but my requested plate no. can get  estimate by 2 weeks time. If I opt to my requested plate how bout my car ? is there any problem left it at proton w/house ?

icon_question.gif

Nope the car left at the warehouse will be like normal.. No probs at all.. Just like how u leave ur car at home..

QUOTE(stormaker @ Jul 25 2011, 06:33 PM)
damn Proton ... i think i got a lemon unit adi ... 1st found some scratches on the left side of the car on the day of collection, sales man promised me to get it fixed asap n convinced me its a very fine scratch n with a simple polish it will disappear, but now already 3 weeks, n they keep on delaying ...

Now found the wheel alignment is out also, thought simple RM20 wheel alignment will fix the problem, but im wrong, 2 tyre shops told be the left tyre chamber is way out, need to change the chamber nuts.

With all the "coincidence" which all occured at the left side of the car, now i started to think that something happened to it before it was delivered to me.
*
I assume ur car is below 1k mileage.. Go and service ur car below 1k km mileage..Then u can claim free alignment from the service centre.. Rmb to choose a centre which has alignment facilities.

QUOTE(redjinx @ Jul 25 2011, 07:34 PM)
Really?

Then how ar...want to check2 if got lemon unit also cannot ?

P/S : My SA just called me..insist me to get AHQ plate or wont get any discount.

Also he told me, the branch wont get payment from bank until the owner receive the car ( isit included in T&C???)  rclxub.gif

how to solve dis problem nia
*
U tendered for AHR plates? Just wait lah.. There is no such thing as no discount.. Say that next mth will always have next mth discounts.. Yeah true the SA wont get paid until the chassis number is registered in JPJ under ur name, so then the bank loan will confirm is for that car and chassis number and then only they will receive the payment.

PE has more advance ECU and they don't have the program to do total body tune it  whistling.gif
*
Throttle body i assume? haha.. yeah saw that being done b4.. Using PDT can do the tuning ady.. PE have to use PADT, and other tuners outside cant simply tune it cos its not using the standard OBDII port..
