i tailgate one camry 2.0 b4 tis at lekas..tat time i was 3rd car,1st is vios and 2nd is camry..i;m cruising around 120kmh,the vios and camry was increase their speed then i tried to follow..till the 160kmh,the camry and me was change tomiddle lane to overtake the vios,then i'm tried to chase the camry..until 190kmh camry still cant drag the distance between it and my car..tat time my car onli change drop in filter and iridium plug..b4 tis i'm oso always tailgate the lancer GT wit speed 180 above lo..maybe lancer GT speed cut ady it cant outrun me lo

CVT cannot TC or SC?

I have never heard of any CVT having any problems when VTEC kick in. I'm quite active in TeamCity club before and there is absolutely no prob with CVT vs VTEC. Some Audi's are using CVTs, high rev engine no prob. There's many type of CVTs. For City, the CVT are meant for FCs, not high revving.

The main reason Honda junk the CVT is not becoz of premature spoilage. It's more becoz most Asian (thats the target market of City) on this target market, the younger to 30s market prefer a more revvy transmission. Honda CVT does not give any satisfaction of revving as it control it tightly for max torque vs Fc balance. Its a bit more fragile vs the avg auto tranny.

FYI, the new Altis is using CVTs, so does many of other bigger cc and larger segment cars that usually goes long distance as well, just not revvy type.

The rubber band affect are mostly due to the above mentioned tight control to balance max torque vs fc, thus for most ppl that are used to auto way of tekan minyak and tekan more than it really needs to, the car will pull back to suit the smooth raising for torque/fc increment thus the so-call lag.

If you sit in my City while I'm driving, you can never feel any lag nor rubber band effect, coz if you know how to drive the way CVT are meant to be driven, albeit slower 0-100 increment (less revvy), the torque is there fully.

Unfortunately for Honda, the misjudge the way most Asian at 30s or less drive...unlike those in Japan where CVT were used a lot for FC saving and smooth driving.

btw. Honda used the wrong ATF for CVT tranny early on thus lots of CVT failed during the earlier generation of City's CVT. These failures gave a bad impression on the durability of CVT tranny. Most of those tranny that used the corrected CVTF a year or 2 later has very little failure rate. Also similar to failure rate of avg auto tranny.

Saw before a persona  with 18" rim. Tyre like so thin only and almost hit fender. Wonder how hard is the suspension....

before i use caltex, when 100kmh, want to speed just press a little bit can felt power come, now pakai shell have to press harder...tarak power....
next wanna test esso, since many say good fc... for me FC come 1st place... add on is shell no save FC lo....

Inspira equal Lancer on CVT and Engine, as they're being left unmodified as per Mitsubitsu requirement. Lack of power feel has been explained in my above post. As for speed increasing fast at high speed, same happens to my City. The 2nd quote above prob explained better on this. At 4th or 5th gear ratio in auto, gear ratio stays mostly the same and pull slower..but CVT does not slow down and move at constant increment in tandem with speed increment...no out of breath feel there...the recent 6th gear addition close the gap nearer.

Still there is concern on the durability and since the latest CVT tranny tech are still consider pretty new and have not finish improving, we're still in the dark of how durable is it. Of course the more expensive the car, the better quality CVT tranny was used as those are designed for higher cc and better rev engine...

Thats leaves Proton CVT....in a gray area in terms of reliability and durability. Only time will tell..

should ask mah... it is bundle with the price already...

Now, 2 years 3 months, 48000 km, got extended warranty by Proton to 5 years / 175,000 km.

Keep perfect service record, every 5,000 km at Proton SC.

Incident:

21 July 2011:

while driving on NKVE, my SE suddenly losing power, shaking badly, park at road side, tried start, engine die off immediately after start with rattling sound in engine bay.

what made me very angry was, i called Proton i-care, the line was not available, it keeps saying the number that i dail was not available. End up called Proton SC at SS14, they arrange tow truck immediately. Proton i-care...listen carefully..you suck...when i need you, you were not there...useless.
call tow car, sent to Proton SC at SS14. Service Manager checked, found:-

- no compression in cylinder #1;
- open engine found one of the valve was broken;
- need to replace the whole cylinder head;
- if "bayar sendiri" cost = RM4k - 5k;
- of course claim extended warranty lah...still waiting for approval...... 

My View:
this is the first time, driving numerous cars for the past 20 years, encountered such serious problem, broken valve, got to replace the cylinder head. The most sad thing is this is a brand new car. I keep perfect service records, no one notice the problem in every service, i wonder why?

right now my mileage is already 5313km and i have not done my 5k service

and now i think my absorber is giving me problem. This is because everytime i drive, there's squeky sound from the back which is very irritating.

Sometimes my acceleration is not smooth as well like kena stuck liddat zzz.

The problem is I study in Kampar and i dun think i'll be goin back KL so soon.

LAST time i drove a BLM and had my service near bandar baru in kampar
apparently the mechanic there is not being honest and tell me last time problem here problem there
in the end the 3yrs old plus BLM had to change bearing and brake stuff which accumulate up to rm9xx PLUS Service
which my warranty that time unfortunately already expire...

so i need advice whether shud i go back KL or try my luck around MENGLEMBU which i heard from some ppl that they provide not bad service.

and OH BTW, i din noe senaxis was in the nono list until now  , that explains why my power window had to go through at least 4 round to fix

I'm afraid of this too. Tata why I was planning to stick by the Eon SC for the remaining EWP. I don't want to go outside service my car save a few bucks thn later engine problem. I bought mine not too far frm urs around aug 09.

My car died on LDP 7am on a Monday morning. I caused a huge jam. My engine jus died mid way going up the flyover. My Eon service expired. But lucky thing don't hv to get all those Eon or aam already. Insurance company gives free toll services! My thn Tokiomarine had the bug ass carry car type rather thn the drag one.

Problem with my car? Stupid crank switch started or some shit.

The engine on another note has allot of problems. Try googling it out. Allot of minor defects which would lead to huge mulfunctions later on.

I believe you might have been running in Sport Mode. When in this mode, lancer/inspira CVT will simulate 6-speed auto tranny to over-ride the standard CVT programming and offer the "rev" feel and pulling power.

Thats the main reason you can feel gear change just like auto tranny. If you're running in the usual "D" drive mode, there is NO gear change feel....becoz there is no locked range of gear ratio like the auto tranny. The gear ratio will just creep up without any rpm dropping or gear change lags. Thats the true CVT working.

I can't remember abt lancer or inspira modes but for Honda City CVT, there are 3 modes of CVT drive. The usual standard FC based "D" Drive, the 7-speed auto mode simulating auto tranny and the 7-speed manual mode allowing manual shifting using the shift button or in case of Lancer, paddle shift stick.

damn Proton ... i think i got a lemon unit adi ... 1st found some scratches on the left side of the car on the day of collection, sales man promised me to get it fixed asap n convinced me its a very fine scratch n with a simple polish it will disappear, but now already 3 weeks, n they keep on delaying ...

Now found the wheel alignment is out also, thought simple RM20 wheel alignment will fix the problem, but im wrong, 2 tyre shops told be the left tyre chamber is way out, need to change the chamber nuts.

With all the "coincidence" which all occured at the left side of the car, now i started to think that something happened to it before it was delivered to me.

btw zeng, my version of persona can tune total body on ECU while PE can't tune total body..
PE has more advance ECU and they don't have the program to do total body tune it 

insane...just slightly 1 week i not around the post jump by more than 60 pages

Jason, that's a fuel tank design flaw. Mine also same. Try to tilt the nozzle to the side a little bit.. For me it works..
