been using it for 3 days now on stock rom and getting the hang of it. couldn't find similar posts about these questions but:

1) is it normal for messaging, music player (perhaps more?) to not shut down by themselves and stay under Active Applications?
2) i've just created a samsung account and try software update but it showed no updates. mine is at I9100DXKF1 / 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKF1 / GINGERBREAD.XWKF1. is this the latest or should i be updating my firmware through Kies?

p/s: just bought a transparent light brown Modish silicon casing+SP and imho it looks really good on the phone rclxms.gif

sorry guys to bring it up again, anyone encounter this problem before?

what i did - transfer an MP3 through Kies Air, create new folder under media (MP3) and stored it there. it allowed me to applied the MP3 as caller ringtone under a contact but when the contact calls in still default ringtone... i was able to use the same MP3 as alarm tone...

try create a folder named "Ringtones". from contacts, assign ringtone from option "Phone Ringtone" not from "My Files". dunno it works with yours or not, surely did with mine. havent try your method.

thanks will give it a try... it's just funny that if i really have to choose from "Phone Ringtone" and not from any other folders

the last villainrom i tried, need to apply patch for browser lag problem. dunno bout new villainrom tho...

nope, good'o stock rom came with the phone. could it be that it doesn't recognize folder named as "mp3"? hmm.gif

my understanding is that it doesn't matter where you store your MP3, and the phone should be able to utilize it right?

Are you still having problem with setting ringtone with your mp3 song from a folder that you created?

These steps should allow you to set a ringtone on stock SGS2 ROM.

1. Install Astro File Manager (Free) from the android market.
2. Launch Astro and navigate to your mp3 folder.
3. Select the mp3 file by click-holding the finger on the mp3 file for a few seconds.
4. Click Music Options->Set as Ringtone.

Hope this helps!  smile.gif

Thanks, somehow i manage to set it already after reboot... perhaps it need to go through the media scanning thingy hmm.gif

another thing i notice, if i set an MP3 as "Phone Ringtone" from the list in Music Player it will now permanently exist under the "Phone Ringtone" list (the one that starts from Andromeda, Basic bell, etc.) hmm.gif

currently using transparent light brown Modish silicon casing and mat-type screen protector for shock and scratch protection. looks pretty good since it doesn't add too much weight or thickness and better grip rclxms.gif

phew been so addicted to zenonia 3 for the past few days... ok some quick comment/questions on this unit so far (on stock rom):

1) full charge (10% -> 100%) takes about 3 hours. is this normal?
2) i can't find the option to apply automatic configuration script on network connection (my company wifi requires it...) i assume the solution is to root it?
3) when a call comes in, i noticed the first ring is softer than the following rings. is it normal?
4) beside using power button and widget (widgetsoid?), any other way to quickly toggle data packet?
5) perhaps a stupid question, but on stock rom we can't have more than 4 docked items right?
6) every time i finish sending a sms or browsing and hit return all the way to home page, they always stay as active applications at the background. sometimes they exit themselves after awhile else i will have to manually exit them. is this normal?
7) i haven't change any of the firmware yet, still on I9100DXKF1 / 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKF1 / GINGERBREAD.XWKF1. is it a good idea to upgrade them, if there is already new ones available?

anyhow, this phone has been the greatest piece of device i ever bought for myself. camera is excellent (i managed to do good macro shot after some practice), battery life is acceptable and it has pretty much every single feature a smartphone should have notworthy.gif

thanks in advance
