It has the opening can't do much. Cost cutting maybe on SGP side. The plastic bumper will hold tight the silicon case.

Maybe I had a defect batch  hmm.gif

The opening is for the antenna in korea. So they just made a universal case than can fit both version of sgs2

i thought i got different color scheme which means the bootleg ones. after checking some pics. i just confirmed that they have 2 type of black color.

Noble ones have glassy-like for its body , and Midnight ones have matte design body (just refering to some picture i search before)
*
Ah, i would have liked midnight black, my noble black seems to be more shiny which i dont like. Just got the phone today. Not that impressed by all the hype yet. hmm.gif

Ok, I'm using Maxis and I got this phone as a replacement for my broken SE k660i, and had used the *100# to get the configuration for MMS and WAP. After I installed it, I still can't send/receive MMS nor surfing net with WAP (sometime I went to places without wifi). Thebn I tried the setting on the first post, and yet still the same problem. Any help? Anyone using Maxis and CAN send/receive MMS WITHOUT enabling wifi?
*
Wifi is not needed to send/receive MMS. Go to maxis homepage and get the settings sent to your phone.

I applied stein clear sp and guess I regreted it. Why? Too much finger prints lol! gorilla glass is fine for me since the I was already using the phone for 2 weeks without any sp...hmm!
I prefer clear over matte, matte destroys the nice screen. Only half a day and i already regretted having matte sp. Gorilla glass is not scratch proof my friend. Its only scratch resistant.

Of course it's normal to cost money when sending MMS, but what I'm asking is when receiving MMS.
*
Yes when receiving you are charged for the data to download the MMS

Please excuse if this has been mentioned before. I tried searching in the forum but couldn't found any post regarding this.

My phone is stock standard. I have problem connecting to wifi spots in places like coffeebean, bodega, etc. however wifi at home and office no problem. Please advice.....

Try downloading wifinder from market. Might be able to help.

Oh and enough bs about turning 3G off, it's like buying a Ferarri and saying "don't go above 50mph okay".
*
Exactly man. Buy a smartphone with 3g capabilities and permanently stick to 2g mode? And say that saves alot of battery? Like driving a ferarri and say i need to drive it at 60 so that i can get 50km per liter of petrol. doh.gif

QUOTE(vkyip @ Jul 16 2011, 03:07 PM)
Totally agree. I love this phone. I want it to succeed. People ask me how's the phone, I say great. People ask me how's the battery, if I am honest I gotta tell em, if you off almost everything you will get good battery, but whats the point? I understand I have to off unused stuffs, all smartphones have to off em to prolong battery. But at least make it easy to off em, even paying for an automation program like Tasker is not easy to control these things easily.

I really don't understand what Sammy is thinking. If fully charged gotta make sound to wake you up at night. Read somewhere that after fully charge, if not pull out charger then not good to battery. But, you have got 2 super smart cores in there, can't you build into the system to off the charging and save the battery when fully charge, rather than to ask to user to manually do so?

I also understand that some people need or want to set their CPU. That is all good. But for even a technically inclined guy like me, what makes me think that even after all that I have read up, I will be better at tuning the CPU? Doesn't it make sense for Google or Sammy to tune down the CPU automatically when I am not doing much at night when I am asleep? You have 2 cores, I am sure there is a way you can detect processes and tune it down when the phone's not doing much, rather than asking me to become a CPU expert and tune it myself.

If I buy one for my wife, and I ask her to tune the CPU, all hell will break lose smile.gif
I know how to turn it off. I only complain that I have to run circles or take many steps to do it. Actually I am asking for about 1.5 days. Fully charged during the morning, unplugged, charge it the next night. That will be good. IF you can get 36 hours, perhaps you would like to share how you do it.
*
Actually the processor will stay in idle mode if there is no processes running. It will not always run at 1.2, in idle it will take probably 10-15% only. Tuning cpu is more for those who do not need the full power at 1.2 in order to save some juice.

"If I buy one for my wife, and I ask her to tune the CPU, all hell will break lose smile.gif" Haha, i cannot agree more if i ask my gf to do the same thing XD

Battery life is quite bad among the many android devices i have owned. Still can be optimised but im still too lazy to root and change ROM

QUOTE(c010 @ Jul 16 2011, 04:36 PM)
guys, do more research on 3G vs 2G first before blindly giving comment. Yes agree to the point of ferrarri theory but do you know what's the impact of turning on 3G permanently? if you are at full 3G coverage area then the impact on battery is minimum but if you are not, expect battery drain because your phone will tend to boost the signal lock down 3G network. That's the culprit of battery drain. i never say you cannot turn on 3G, turn on only when needed like surfing or downloading. 2G is more than enough for all the IMs or emails.
*
Of course i know, if not i wouldnt be commenting that. smile.gif Im staying in HSDPA area coverage most of the time, so i dont think boosting signal much is needed. I use 3g frequently in a day to surf the net. It would be a damn hassle to turn 2g/3g on and off.

All im saying sure all those steps reduce battery drain but phones are meant to be used regularly anyway, better find a solution that doesnt involve turning off things.

I havent root and optimize my phone yet so i dont know how much optimization can be done to save how much percentage of battery. blush.gif

already did that..but still the "?" appear at top right of my phone..
is there any software to check the satellite signal?..
btw im new to android n smartphone..

how long did you test it outdoors? there are some gps test apps in market.

QUOTE(c010 @ Jul 16 2011, 04:52 PM)
the solution would be, battery technology. our battery technology for pass 10 years has not evolved much vs the other parts of the devices. more powerful CPU, bigger screen
*
right, back to battery. Why not a 2000mah battery instead of a 1650mah? That only samsung can answer i guess.

True much other parts have evolve alot, but as the evolve they should be more energy efficient. smile.gif

Hello fellow sgs2 users. i have a problem with simi clock application. it is easily found on the android market but when i installed it, i couldnt find the way to access to the application. anyone can help me? want to customize my theme. hehehehehe.

in the market it says "if u have taskmanager running please exclude Simi Clock". What does it means?
*
i thought by tapping the widget you can customize it?

reason to exclude it from taskmanager because the application need to be running all the time, if your task manager ends that app then you need to restart it again everytime.

Yesterday i went to Sg Wang to look for S2...asked nearly all the shop there for the best price. Last shop i went there offer me RM2030 for SME, then i said ok i need to survey other shop too. Then i walk by...the salesman called me again, and his boss showed me the price on his calculator... RM1800 and said "If this price, u want?" i said, "sorry sir i dont want AP set or demo set." he said, "no, this is ori set, if u want i'll get for u" Then he went away to get me the set, about 20 minutes he still doesnt show up. Me and my friend was so wondering why is the price so cheap... I ask the salesman if the boss is trying to do some con here...he said he dont know but he showed me the list of shops they have, its about 30 shops around kl and pj.
Then after about 30 minutes of waiting, his boss call him and said, the set finish already, he actually have to queue up at the other shop (its like a warehouse, not open to public) to get that set and up to his turn, the set finish already. and i was like...o nooo... sad.gif and went home with empty handed, because no mood to survey anymore LOL.
Does anybody know about this? About the lil warehouse secret they were talking about? Or the price of S2 will go down to this price if few weeks time?

whistling.gif
*
Haha, wouldnt be logical anyway for him to sell you ori sme at 1800. He can sell at 1900 instantly in lyn forum haha.

Guys wanna ask u all about the Ram status in ur SGS2. It seem like Juice defender Ultimate is sucking up a lot of RAM. After the complete loading in Cognition 1.13, the RAM reading is about 404MB/833MB. How was ur RAM uptake? Thanks.
*
I think average is around 400+ used.

Oh i've just found out that i can enable and disable data packet mode from the power button. Thats pretty cool considering no widget is required biggrin.gif

More details please. How long did you leave the papago on? Did you put it outdoors? It uses satellite signal only.

i use while outdoor. leave it on for 30 min.. but no signal... keep showing klcc area only... i bought my sgs2 from lowyat.. but the papago on my friend iphone 4 is working well while we are in the same car.. haish.. something must be wrong with the software.. i got it free.. do u pay for it?
*
maybe you can download gps test app from market and try out if your gps signal is strong or not. My papago can lock within 30 seconds to 1 minute. Decent enough but the fastest gps lock i've seen is with HTC's phone. My previous desire can lock within 5 seconds.

mind to share where did you get this information from? i do have a samsung tablet charger that charges that 2000mA, but want to be sure before try it.
*
No, it wont harm your phone. The full capacity charge is determined by the phone not the charger. Say you have a 2A charger and the phone max charging is 1A, the phone will take in max 1A only. So its safe. I feel the samsung charger is abit low at 0.7A, takes ages for it to charge but lower A got its upside, the battery wont get very warm so it increases the lifespan of the battery.

QUOTE(Lineage @ Jul 18 2011, 03:26 PM)
So those seller said..this car charger is better..charge faster than cheap 1..so those are nonsense? all depends on the device kernel?

So if for car charger, any charger above 500mA will do its job well right? I just bought RedHot 570mA car charger last week  laugh.gif
*
In a way they are not talking nonsense. Higher power output still might be able to charge your phone faster. Cheap chargers might say for example put output as 500mA, but internal resistance and all the cheap components might degrade the output thus its not trully 500mA.

Its always advisable to get a good charger.

Not all phones accept the same charge. HTC phones accepts the highest charge among the many phones i've used. Their 1A charger charges really fast compared to charging at 500mA over the usb port.
