Guys any recommendation for branded soft pouch for this phone?

i din install any custom rom yet. don intend to do that, yet.

i'm a complete newbie in all these things la. my first smartphone since nokia n70 =_=

Hi Guys much apreciate for the help you guys have been helping me previously, but lately my phone is a bit of laggy and some games i played would make my phone hang such as fruit slice is tis the game problem or the phone problem?

I believe both #1 and #3 goes to PDA. Flash #1 to restore back original apps. Then proceed in flashing #3 if you would also like to restore the kernel.

From page 1:
CODE (PDA) is android and all the applications that come with it. (The archives/folders will be named after the version of this file)
MODEM (PHONE) is the firmware of the wireless chipset of the device and will operate you WiFi, Blutooth and 3G/2G/GSM connections. (ie Radio ROM)
The CSC includes connection data for the broadband networks as well as apps that are only available in certain languages/intended for a specific area.

Laggy can be because of apps. Is there any apps that you instaleld lately. Also, I believe if you use those live wallpaper, it will make your phone some sort of laggy. Try check on Task manager and see any application is not closed properly. Press back and not home button to exit.

1. Go EX Launcher
2. GO SMS

So already can theme inside Just want the battery icons on top and the extended boot menu provided by custom roms. The only thing I don't like about CR is that deodexed browsers lag in general when scrolling.

Ordered SGP Soul Black and Oleo sp. Haven receive yet though.

Random reboot was usual the first few days. Now seems like okay already (I hope).

What issues? I'm rather happy with mine although I only was at 2.3.4 for a day or two... tak tahan the browser lag

#1 is the OS while #3 is the kernel. Both are different files (with different functions) hence the file size difference. But of course you could always wait for other sifus to help

Nope not using any live wallpaper and i can't even press back or home button. It straight Hang there not moving at all. I got no choice but to remove the battery and put it back. I'm stil figurin out wat apps tat caused such problem.

hmmm i guess i will just flash to stock kernel? the KIES thing is really stupid la. i have to uninstall it since it is slowing down my machine and throwing me errors whenever i reboot...but without it, my S2 cannot be detected via USB. =_= ish

and i'm using office laptop. home machine is mac...and don think odin can work on mac (correct me if i'm wrong).

i'll refer to the 1st page on how to flash to stock kernel (mine is KF1 i think)

The browser lag CAN be fixed, you know. And like I said before, stock browser is REALLY quite feature sparse if you intend to REALLY browse heavily. The HW acceleration is nice for flash, yes, but otherwise the dual core proc makes any browser fast anyway.

Plus the crappy checkerboard and text reflow problems in stock.

Also, I'm wondering what you guys are running for so many to get reboot problems. Ever since I for got the SGS2, the thing has only freeze rebooted on me like 3-4 times, and even then due to excessive system mods.

Am enjoying VillianROM 1.4 and will wait for XDA fixes for browser etc before jumping in

Yeah it *can* be fixed... Just that its a hassle

Yup use VRT but that applies only on VR1.4. There is none browser fix in 2.0 though. Dont use stock browser so...

File 1 is PDA
file 3 is kernel this is optional. If you want to flash this do it after successful flash firmware. Set it as pda in odin and do not select repartition

Thanks Bros - to me 2.3.4 does not seem to be a gamechanger - and unless it has some special features like doubling the battery life (fat hope!!), then will migrate, otherwise 1.4 VR is good enough for me.

Major investmentI made for extending batt life was a Nokia microusb cable which was thrown away by a retail shop attendant and rescued it to be used with my old USB car charger which had 1A charging capacity. When at home or office, am on charge most of the time with laptop.

You know, I was meaning to ask this as well. I've not had a single reboot in 3 weeks. My time since boot currently reads 216 hours, which is nine days; I think my last reboot was to backup my device in CWM. I have a live wallpaper running so my home screens has very minor lag on image heavy pages (pulse etc), but otherwise my phone doesn't feel slow at all, and this is without task killers.

Curiosity makes me wonder why some people are rebooting and some are facing lag after a period of time. Bad roms? Black market apps? Or are the phones just not made equally?
