according to a phone seller, he's advising close friends not to get sgs2 because of the heat issue. after 10mins of use, phone becomes hot. so, the phone can't last long... |

QUOTE(sunnyboy @ Jul 12 2011, 11:17 AM) i din ask... coz already got sgs2. no need to waste saliva and breath. anyway, this guy was supposed to help me get sgs2 when it finally launch in MY -- i was worried about stock-out issues, etc... so hoping can use 'relation' to get a phone. do i regret after hearing it? NOPE? i think its worth all the money spent on this phone -- i got what i wanted from my phone -- 3g video call and good photos. downloaded the video and photos i took over the weekend and they are simply amazing! i just love this phone! best rm2099 i ever spent! Added on July 12, 2011, 11:46 am QUOTE(lost123 @ Jul 12 2011, 11:33 AM) hopefully i wont get poisoned coz im currently using SGS, and i still love my fone, dun see myself upgrading this year.. im actually going there coz my fren wanna test it. looks like we can add you to the owner list very soon... lol...Added on July 12, 2011, 11:49 am QUOTE(pluginbaby @ Jul 11 2011, 08:32 AM) talking about ROMs are a phone specific discussion btw tried out the default browser and i have to say, i am not impressed by it. i still like dolphin hd more. i guess to each, his own. reason for not being impressed -- i was browsing LYN forum and trying to reply... somehow, i was not able to scroll properly and view the text box -- so i was not really able to be sure of what i had typed. compared with dolphin, i have no such issue. QUOTE(mydragoon @ Jul 11 2011, 08:21 AM) ok, another topic... from what i understand from pg1, the charging port on sgs2 is actually microUSB, correct? i tried plugging in the cable from my external harddisk and it didn't seem to be able to go in... was actually hoping benny888 can comment a bit on this... * was i being to gentle? asking partly coz i noticed my Asus TF charger is actually a 2 piece charger (1 pc is the adapter/ charger that connects to the wall 3pin socket and 1 is a USB to proprietary ASUS port). it's stated as 2.1A on the adapter. so... can i find a usb to microusb (assuming the port on sgs2 is microusb) and use that to charge the phone? i think benny88 mentioned he uses the kensington car charger (or sth like that). i checked out the link before and it shows a adapter (for the car cigarette point) with what looks like a usb port. just wondering... so at least if i travel, i can reduce the number of things to carry... updated: tested with the cable from external harddisk... quite sure it can't go in. You sound as if the temperature is so high which only averaging 30 to 40+ only which reminds me... when ppl post phone temperature, do they all mean the battery temperature (which can be obtained by dialing *#*#4636#*#*)? |

QUOTE(dhouseng @ Jul 12 2011, 05:18 PM) first thing i do before i pay for the phone is to get the shop to agree that i can check and be satisfied with the phone -- specifically, i mention that i won't even accept 1 dead pixel. i also say i will check for any discolourations/ tints.once the fella agrees, the phone gets powered up and i enter *#0*# on the keypad. this will give me option like change screen to certain colours. good to detect dead pixels and tints. i'm not to overly worried about the pink spot on photos since its been reported that this is a software issue. if they can't agree to this, i go to other shops lor... |

QUOTE(Mudadak @ Jul 12 2011, 06:38 PM) hi, i am new to this forum and my friend recently brought me in here to learn more about the phone i recently purchased. my previous phone is pretty much a dinosaur and after reading what is on the 1st page, i felt somewhat even more confused. wah, your friend take the easy way out and point you here instead of teaching/ showing you?!?can one of you please explain to me what root is ? it is way too technical for me to understand. how do i get the galaxy s2 to play encoded divx files ? can i hook this up to a projector unit and display it ? what kind of resolution would i be looking at assuming i have a sxga projector. will it be able to handle and beam out at the maximum resolution the projector can take ? what special cables or devices would i be needing and at what price range would i be looking at ? will this be a pal or ntsc system setting ? am i able to view photos shot in raw format ? and more importantly can i beam those out onto my projector for presentation purposes ? is there any free software that i can use to do a group chat ? or is it bound to the service provider ? something sort of like video conferencing for mobile phones but not a 1 to 1 session rather a 4-5 people session. the reason i bought this unit was that i was initially very impressed with the tablet computing power and my friend told me this is by far more powerful and faster than an ordinary tablet minus the screen size. so i thought that maybe for mobility purposes for presentations i could use this as a replacement to a laptop or a tablet as it is lighter and easier to pocket around. thank you. anyway... for rooting. dun even bother with that. why fix something if its not broken. if the phone serves you well, then there's no need to read up on rooting (yet). when you find the phone is limiting you in certain ways, then yes... it would be time for you to start reading up on rooting. to project to projector... you will need the cable -- one end is microUSB and the other is HDMI. if the projector does not have HDMI input... hmmm... not sure if you can use converter boxes for it. group chats -- not sure if they support group chats but check out apps like tango, viber or even whatsapp. i've not tried them out yet as i can still live without it. hoping to get OS 2.3.4 on the phone soon so i can use GTalk's video function. personally, i dun think sgs2 can be a replacement to a laptop. it can supplement it, but not replace... you can do most work on laptop, use sgs2 to review and do minor editing. perhaps even do presentations. but i dun think you can replace the laptop. Many games I'm having graphic problems, such as Galaxy on fire 2, asphalt 6.. not sure about asphalt 6, but Galaxy on Fire 2 is meant to be for tegra only. i think you'll need an apps to trick the game and do some manipulation/ translation for the game to work properly on sgs2.here is example.. here is example [attachmentid=2327343][attachmentid=2327345] This post has been edited by mydragoon: Jul 13 2011, 08:30 AM |

QUOTE(cjxs @ Jul 13 2011, 12:24 PM) I suggest once you made the purchase clear you payment method just in case. i.e don save it as the default payment to avoid unitentional purchase. yes, ideally, clear the ccard info... add back when needed. that way, there's no way you can get charged for in-apps billing/ payments/ purchases. |
