initially i wanted to get rieger back and sides + R bumper (since was told by many the rieger bumper is too low). But found out to hav parts n pieces fr diff set is costly ... so finally i think i'll compromise by getting full rieger kit.... if n touchwood i break the front bumper... prob i'll just replaced it with a RocR bumper...

however i'll still hav to decide now to go for the full rieger bumper .. or the front rieger add-on bumper...

Noticing a slight vibrating noise coming from somewhere around the dashboard of my Golf 1.4 TSI when I moderately accelerate from 1st or 2nd gear. The vibration goes away in a few seconds, but it sounds quite annoying.

Car is very new, mileage around 500km only.

Anyone knows if this is normal?

Yes, noticed that also, but I think it doesn't come from dashboard, its from the engine...? it goes away after the car at D3 or higher when the car moves to 40+km/h...anyone seeing the same thing??

bro.. u r right... if d front piece is duper duper cheap.. dun mind just put on the add-on for few mths.. not likey.. just throw away n change to the whole bumper set lo...

the add-on is higher than the whole bumper replacement right ? in terms of ground clearance ?

Bro, no need to throw le, can give me... Hehe

Btw guys, any recommendation for workshop that does a good job painting racing stripes?
Something like the mini coopers.

The center stripes or the 2 side stripes looks better?

guys, will be looking around for a set of Golf R rears. ive heard that there are 2 types being sold on our market - one being the original Germany set, and the other being the China made set. how would i be able to tell the difference? is there any specific markings on these lamps that i can look out for eg. VW logo? cheers (and have a yellow weekend!) smile.gif

Well, if you're planning to buy from the two EM's, then I don't think you need to worry about getting fake stuff.

Now my headache is matching the color.. as my car is not white. apparently rieger kit best suited for bright color cars... but mine is DARK ... so have to find ways to make the fins standout a bit... else whole car just black...
anybody wanna help me throw out some ideas or even phtoshop it for mock test ...hehe...

Why don't you do like the GTI. Paint it dark shiny gray (I think that's the colour). That way it's still quite fierce without being ah-beng like.

I'm going to paint my side bumper and rear diffuser in the same colour as my front bumper insert.

Why don't you do like the GTI. Paint it dark shiny gray (I think that's the colour). That way it's still quite fierce without being ah-beng like.

I'm going to paint my side bumper and rear diffuser in the same colour as my front bumper insert.

Refer to the fill in the front bumper where it's a dark grey colour. If you want it to be more pronounced, you may want to have it in a lighter gray ... maybe carbon steel grey? Garang yet still classy at the same time.

guys, will be looking around for a set of Golf R rears. ive heard that there are 2 types being sold on our market - one being the original Germany set, and the other being the China made set. how would i be able to tell the difference? is there any specific markings on these lamps that i can look out for eg. VW logo? cheers (and have a yellow weekend!) smile.gif

hardly any place got rocco to test drive..
for me i prefer rocco looks but GTI got more stuff to mod like DRL.. led tail lights.. like easier to find Golf stuff than rocco stuff
rocco just BK and performance stuff

handling wise rocco owns GTI tho...
best is u test drive both and u see which 1 more suites u

I was in the same situation a few months back, in the end went with the Golf.

Mainly because of the price factor:

If you take the Scirocco, you're paying RM34,000 more than the Golf GTI.

In most other countries, the Scirocco is actually cheaper than the Golf GTI (in Singapore it's around RM16,000 cheaper).

In other words, you're paying more for what should be a cheaper car, and making yourself a victim of the government's extra tax on 2-door cars.

The engine and the gearbox are the same.

The interior looks almost exactly the same.

The handling is supposedly better.

But biggest plus point for the Scirocco is it looks MUCH sexier. People stare when you drive it. You feel like a rockstar. It's still a special thing to see one on the road.

Hardly anyone stares at a Golf, GTI or otherwise. I bet a 1.4 Scirocco would still get more stares even than a Golf R.

Whether this is worth the artificially inflated price is a decision only you can make.

One question, can anyone give a rough number on how much the interest rate would be for an unreg 06 golf gti mkv??

And buying unreg recon cars are not the same rate as new ones right??

If the rumours of Golf R will be priced at RM260k is true, then it will be a very good buy. With 4Motion, tuned engine and sport seat, for me it will be better value for money than Scirocco biggrin.gif

actually im looking at razor add on kits for front n side n rear spoiler...for rear bumper i like d razor whole thing. coz mine a SE version so there r aldy drl so no point changing d whole front bumper wit razor drl. but as for exhaust n remapping i stil undecided to upgrade coz been told it wil void d gti warantee, but did browse thru some forumers saying with d help of d cruise control can switch between stock n upgraded ecu remap, not sure bout tat la... as for rim im tempted to change but unsure which looks better than my 18" detroit n how much d trade in value. no intention to lower my ride as d nature of my work. so thats about it at d moment...mayb wil look for door visor too if can find any...

what's the outcome of the drag? 300m, 400m?

p/s: i thought wheel spin happened when ur car got high torque but less traction... does this mean that the TCS in our 1.4 is not doing his job? btw, i'm on Potenza RE050.

IMO, 1st u should get a good set of tyres + 17' or 18' inch (if u like to attack corners)

It seems the new Eos has no KESSY installed. Not sure on the remote control open-close roof function. Kind of rip-off.

The anti roll bar would show the most difference. Other options would be to change your suspension system and springs.

what's the outcome of the drag? 300m, 400m?

p/s: i thought wheel spin happened when ur car got high torque but less traction... does this mean that the TCS in our 1.4 is not doing his job? btw, i'm on Potenza RE050.

Hi guys..After I put about 800km on my new GTI, I have some sort of rattling/rapid ticking/clashing noise sometimes when I accelerate. It seems to kick in when the engine is working hard with turbo. It subsides when engine is more in a steady stead cruising speed. Anyone with GTI having similar problem?

I drive a 1.4 TSI with similar mileage, and having this exact same issue.

It's kind of like a buzzing noise yes? But mine seems to come from inside the dashboard somewhere, not the exhaust as some others have pointed out.

I'm hoping it will go away as the engine breaks in. Don't want to bring it to SC yet so early on in case it's nothing to worry about.

Just tested driven the Eos, it is very nice & sporty indeed. The sun roof now can be slide open totally & also the addition of RNS510.

However without KESSY & remote roof control is big thumbs down for a car this price.

Around RM 259k OTR & yes comes with cruise control.

Waiting period depends on the color of your choice. For instance, solid white has ready stock.

Hi guys, just got my scirocco 1.4 this afternoon. The only 'defect' that I noticed first was the bubbles at the llumar tint which I was told would disappear in 1-2 months time.

I checked back my scirocco at 5pm at home and noticed that the right headlamp got 'wap air' inside. I don't know where's the water coming from but it was raining lightly when I was driving home. Either way it shouldn't be like that right? Any of you guys experienced the same thing?

Bought it at VW Jln Ipoh. I'm heading there this Monday since tomorrow closed.

congrats on your new purchase! however, these defects which you've raised are definitely not the norm - a new car should not experience water droplets inside the lights, this usually happens to older cars in which the rubber sealant becomes hard/loose. as for your tint, bubbles do not need 1-2 months time to 'disappear'. most brands of tint take 2-3 days to fully dry up and bubbles can then be 'pushed out' by the people who installed it for you.

Bro, any sort of buzzing and rattling is definitely not normal especially for a new car. Best if you get it check out by the SC.

Just upgraded rear UR ARB to my Golf tsi today.... Feel better ride and handling compared to stock... Really surprise the different between the hollow and solid ARB... luckily try before the lowered sport spring which will harsh the ride.

Quick heads up for those using Penchala Link, my colleague who stays around the vicinity says the Police or JPJ are stopping cars with dark tint and those that are moded heavily. At the toll.

right after the roll right? heading to ttdi direction. thats why u use smart tag and go on the right most lane. they usually wont stop you there. if you are on the left, it is easier for them to stop you.

I can borrow u my micro-can cable. U then can download the vcds software from ross tech website and then u are good for experimenting the code tweaking.

I think u just need to clear the fault code using vcds for the bulb error light on yr MFD.

My ride is 2011 Mk6 Golf GTI SE. Small modding so far:
1. R tail lights
2. Shut of the seat belt chime (I know not advisable....)
3. Activate staging as active
4. Comfort line change adjust from 3 blinks to 5 blinks
5. Activate rain closing for windows and sunroof

I stay close to Kajang but working in KL. Ya one of these days I may join the TT if time permit..

Not that I know of. Airbag system still function well, at least that what vcds auto scan tell - no fault found. Good thing with vcds - you can scan all controller modules of you car to check for any fault.

It a convenience feature of the car that during change of lane ie overtaking just tap the turn signal stick and default set up will flash 3 times. You can change this flashes up to max 5 times.

which to go for?
Revo vs APR
seems like revo having discounts now..rm2900...APR 3-4k?
but most importantly...which 1 better?
which can b done without being detected by our VW hence void our warantee..
btw,i saw somebody saying if our car comes with cruise control..can change to stock via it?

call them few time from Mid- May till now still giving me same answer (car will be release very soon by customs) How soon?

Beside my Plate number already approve by JPJ at May...how long can i hold this number or i need to transfer the plate number to another parties first and switch it back to me, to extend it.
*
I know my buddy's Passat is on the way after months of waiting. Maybe yours is going to be released soon so why don't you give your SA a call just to check.

If I remember correctly, you have 3 months from the date that you get the number to register it to a vehicle. Don't think you can simply transfer your number ... you have to tag the number to a vehicle so what people usually do is buy a cheap ass motorcycle and transfer the number there.

hey guys, i have a question, would like to know roughly how long have you all waited for your car after you have settled all the down payment, bank loan, plate number and stuff.

cus i recently bought a scirocco from one of the VW dealer, i settled all my downpayment and everything else on friday-sat and they told me that i'd receive the car by next thursday, then today they told me that the car will only be ready by wednesday. its a ready stock.

please advise ! thank you smile.gif

why would u wanna do that bro..?
SE actually not much diff.. everything in the SE can be aftermarket fixed in except the sunroof..
IMHO if u already have the GTI no point changing to the SE cause it wont make much diff..
i rather u just mod ur current GTI..

1. R tail lights
2. Shut of the seat belt chime (I know not advisable....)
3. Activate staging as active
4. Comfort line change adjust from 3 blinks to 5 blinks
5. Activate rain closing for windows and sunroof

It's really not wise to upgrade to SE from your current gti. Imagine how much you would lose buy selling your 2010 car and then buy the same car again. If you did finance your car, its even worse. And you need to pay interest again for your new car. Just for a sunroof? The sunroof is not 100% trouble free. I was told that the rubber around the sunroof does not last well and. I have also seen a car parked on the road with the sunroof open while it was raining heavily. The owner forgot to close it. The interior habis la. Either get the golf R or don't change!

Bro, my tweaking experience so far solely based on Golf GTI. Even though ROC is still based on MK6 platform but I believe it has difference BCM - body control module that may slightly have different tweak. Need to search on the net for ROC code tweaking guides. I wish I could help u more...

There are plenty of custom remaps and branded remaps available. Some people swear by their custom remaps and some of them swear by the branded ones. Those who go with the branded ones usually want to have the ease of mind because these are done by reputable tuning companies. There has been cases where custom maps have blown up an engine before but of course that was in the past. The only remap I know which does offer warranty is that you get the one from ABT.

Hi all, Anyone tried the APR stage 1 on their TSI? Or any other mod-chips?

What is the reported fuel consumption? Or any notes/issues/problem when using this (besides the obvious problems of voiding the warranty tongue.gif )

Fuel consumption didn't go up. Actually went down instead, used to average around 10.5L/100km now the average has dropped to around 9.7L/100km (note these are all on Ron95). So far no issues with it, the APR map has a very nice and smooth torque curve (let me see if I can find my dyno chart somewhere, left it at Yan's car the other time and now I misplaced it again) and the map has the security lockout which is fantastic. Those of you who are after for more power, let me say that the APR doesn't give the most power among the other maps. So far those with the highest whp for a 1.4 TSI is on a custom map from GT Auto. Best recorded was around 210whp (Yan correct me here if I am wrong about the Roc you mentioned but Gary's Golf 1.4TSI gave around 195whp) but of course this is with a full downpipe, intake and exhaust setup as well.

If you search back the older versions of the thread, I did give feedback on some maps and even for the APR ones as well.

Btw, 6 more days left for the APR Summer sales! biggrin.gif

Also if you go for the VCM Friday night TT, you can test out a lot of cars there wink.gif

LOL! The max I did on my stock GTI was 520KM around 49L (RON95).
I think that was quite awhile ago, nowadays I get 450-480KM.
Daily drive to work using MEX. Guess my fc is kinda bad.

Am a 1.4 owner and used to own a FD1, personally the FD1 handling around the corners are slightly better.

Kinda agree. I dont have the FD2, but I have Mazda 3. To me the Mazda handles corners better compared with TSI as the TSI steering feels vague...and there is a slight understeer most ofthe time when you attack corners. But the torque....yum yum sweet...veli nice!!

The suspension is also quite soft as well hence after a hard corner the car takes a while to stabilizes itself.

After reading the thread for a while, i've decided to get a tsi. Now my next concern will be window tinting, hope u guys can share some experience.

I understand some said its hard to find an experience shop to tint a golf (for not breaking the door clip) n some said 3M tinting does not require to take off door panels? Can more 3M supporter confirm? Appreciate ur comments.. Thx smile.gif

Plenty of Golfs have gone for 3M, V-Kool and Huper Optik and Lumar. Most of the authorized dealers have the experience. Don't worry too much about it.

Oh well..in addition just wonder how mush the approx cost for a small dent and respary of 1 panel from VW?

I got a quote from Hup Seng about RM600.00 for a B-Class Merc (small dent and respray...my wife and her minor accidents doh.gif )

Was told before that a guy who scrapped his Golf TSI, 3 panels, knock back and respray around RM300 at a shop in Kepong, Ah Seng if I am not mistaken.

Really? I am on V-kool's Elite and I always compare with my colleague's 3M. Everytime during lunch time we go into each other's car (we both park outside in the open) to see which car is hotter and most of the feedback I got from other colleagues that mine was slightly cooler. But I did my tint at V-kool's main HQ (near the old Rothman roundabout) which they did a fantastic job on it. No scratches and bubbles at all.

all our cars tinted with v-kool and so far so good, but it also depends alot on the color of the car, if on a silver car, in a hot day it does feels cooler, on my black car, it is a lot hotter.

haha bro.. dont be fooled by the 160 vs 210 hp...
once u test drive the car its totally different feeling...
it might seem only 50hp and 40nm torque diff but the way the power is delivered is totally different..

i was suppose to get rocco 1.4 also last time.. but once i sat in the GTI there was no return already for me...

btw an advise from me.. if u not gonna buy the GTI/2.0 dont test drive it tongue.gif

i know lots and lots of ppl here regret getting golf 1.4 and rocco 1.4 also..
but if budget permits it... hell the 1.4 is a fast car too smile.gif

To be honest, I saw a new grey EOS with the roof on in the showroom and I thought the car looks quite plain and not worth the 257k asking price and its a slower car than the GTI which is 50k less. But hell, I just saw a brand new red EOS on the road with the top down and it looks really sexy and cool! Sigh, that's the visual effect of a convertible...

Wah! Where got such thing as 'just' 50hp only? 40Nm torque might not equate a huge difference with the kick-in-pants sensation, but 50hp is quite a big gap! Almost like a jump from a Civic to a Civic Type R! laugh.gif

i'm planning on getting a golf tsi, and after reading about the jetta I'm wondering if it'll be worth the wait for this until sept 2011.

some points i've considered (notwithstanding the price, since no one knows for sure yet) about the jetta;

- extra boot (quite important for some people)
- new face (different than golf), if it's the 2011 model
- driving dynamics not too nippy (sedan vs hatchback)
- slightly longer rear legroom
- more mature image

what is unknown about the Jetta at this point to affect my decision are;

- pricing
- warranty plan (if the 5 + 5 year is still valid)
- engine (1.2 or 1.4 or 2.0)
- gearbox (manual or DSG)
- wheel (16" or 17")
- interior spec

i'm planning on getting a golf tsi, and after reading about the jetta I'm wondering if it'll be worth the wait for this until sept 2011.

some points i've considered (notwithstanding the price, since no one knows for sure yet) about the jetta;

- extra boot (quite important for some people)
- new face (different than golf), if it's the 2011 model
- driving dynamics not too nippy (sedan vs hatchback)
- slightly longer rear legroom
- more mature image

what is unknown about the Jetta at this point to affect my decision are;

- pricing
- warranty plan (if the 5 + 5 year is still valid)
- engine (1.2 or 1.4 or 2.0)
- gearbox (manual or DSG)
- wheel (16" or 17")
- interior spec
*
bro, where u get the info on Sept'11 launch date ? I thought Passat will launch first and rumor to be around Nov'11. Anyway, hope ur source is correct cause Jetta looks attractive to me too

sorry, might've been nov instead of sept.

possibly cbu jetta launch first in 2011, then ckd jetta in 2012.

latest rumor heard that Golf may CKD in Malaysia in 2012, in addition to Jetta and Passat.

plug n play stuff shouldn't void the warranty. so, shldn't b much prob. if they dare void our warranties based on such reason, i can guarantee you there'll be too much publicity VW won't wanna go through.

If you have installed the LED with a capacitor then it should be fine. However, if only LED without a capacitor, it will throw a code as the can-bus detects low voltage on the number plate LED>

Let's hope the official press statement holds true.

But if a manufacturer sees a strategic fit, and economic reasoning to CKD a popular selling model for the interest of profit, they'll probably risk losing a few early customers to gain countless new ones due to a lower pricing.

That's why I was surprise when my source mentioned they're quoting for a Golf model.

PERHAPS its for sourcing of material for their other plants manufacturing Golf.

1st service is at 15,000km but a lot of people do send their cars in for interval service outside from the official service centers.

Any change to the car which is other than stock will violate the warranty IF the service center is not good at communicating with VGM for warranty claims. There has been a case where a GTI's radiator was leaking and was denied warranty because he changed the exhaust tips, not the exhaust system but just those cool titanium tips which is just a simple screw on.

I just believe there is no such thing as a 100% guarantee that your warranty will not be void its just that it is always based on who handles your case. Otherwise, do like what Yan does, just swap it out before going in for service.

A lot of plug and play stuff for VW cars such as the players such as the RCD510 or the RNS510 and yes, and they can consider that a warranty void.

Guys, currently my mileage is close to 1000km. I understand that the 1st service will be at 15000km. However I saw some of the forumers did their service in between the suggested mileage like 7500km.

Is it advisable to do the service in between the intervals? Is there any tips or suggestions in finding the right place to do the service outside of the VW service centers?

i've always believe in buying new car, with that sort of price plus high interest, i would rather go for golf 1.4 tsi.

yes, its a gti, can't compare. but that beast has gone to stage2, i believe the previous owner is a power driver. must have tekan it kao kao d.

unless you're prepared to go through the hassles if something does happen, by all means, go for it.

maybe other sifus can give better advise, but that's my pov. hoho smile.gif

currently i book my passat cc during april at price of RM235k and now the price is getting cheaper due to CKD.?

any opinion to pull of the order and wait for CKD ?
*
So far the understanding for local CKD are Polo Sedan, Jetta & Passat Sedan.

Bro Mavik, when u send ur car for interval oil change, do they need to do any setting to the engine after the change? Planning to send mine soon as currently already at 8500+ km. Castrol Edge 5w-40 will do right? Some shop selling Lexus oil 5w-40 full synthetic only rm120.00, VW can use? i know someone use it on toyota camry and honda accord 2.0 tongue.gif

Test every button in there that it should function. Make sure no visible damage to the car (e.g. scratches), test signal lights and lights and DRL (your sales assistant should help you with that).

I went to VW showroom in Sg. Besi last weekend. The Polo was a bit too small and Golf 1.4 TSI is pretty good. However we walked off and totally lose our interest because the sales people there are just rubbish. Perhaps they are not interested in selling cars and is just hired to sit in the showroom and watch potential customers roam around themselves smile.gif

I think they are just stupid because selling cars is not like selling vegetables in the market smile.gif I would've seriously considered the Golf GTI for my wife and we ended up in the Mazda showroom so I guess the M3 2.0 would be the final choice.

i have quite good experience with Cergas opposite One utama there (same row with Suzuki, honda etc)

The sales person who approach me is quite professional and polite. So i bought my TSI there. But aftersales i don know yet LOL
*
aftersales is so far very good for cergaz...i have been there a few times to settle my issues...no problem, very professional.

if you check in the manual, i believe it would mention a fault with the catalytic converter. do you feel any power loss? car feels sluggish?

Currently I am still servicing my cars in 222, evrywhere is the same , you get the bad apples among the good ones..... I have been to 3 different service centres and showrooms. Sometimes if I didnt know better i would have had different opinions like evryone else here. So if you had been to the same place more than a few times with different SA's then would you have a valid opinion on the quality of the place...

and btw i feel that glenmarie management is inept although they have a nice place going...so there we all have different opinions....

and yes sg besi sales and service is questionable so i ended up servicing my car at a different dealership, unless you still have your free 1st 2 service...it doesnt matter where you go to service your car under warranty. I for one have settled for pj kl and subang coz i have my office, house and warehouse in the 3 locations. Kl i am waiting for FA wagen volvo to start servicing VW cars..that would be in a year to two from now.

Been to 222 thrice. Always left me with disappointment in terms of customer service quality.
Haven't tried glenmarie yet so can't comment. Bought car from glenmRie. Sales side quite good.

They shud pick a page from naza klang service centre. Top quality customer service.

Depends on model tho.
Currently looking into how to get the memory seat function. As it's a very handy feature to have.

Mods? Well like meter staging. Making it sweep like the passat cc on start up, activating window, sun roof auto close when raining, reading and erasing fault codes, correcting drl after retrofitting etc

How is it possible you can get 200k loan..

I thought max loan is 90%..hence 190k is the max you can borrow..

Oh Kelvin23 is back..how is your Honda city doing? rclxms.gif

Haiyo plus minus lah. Just giving a rough figure. Anyway golf gti need to wait 4 months for se version. But it has sunroof, dvd touchscreen player, cruise control and 18 inch sport rim at the same price. Omg!

Anyway decided to go for polo in the mean time as polo has ready stock then maybe upgrade again next year. Polo was awesome to drive!

Honda city is doin fine. But will pass it to family member once get the polo.
