I think the signing of Meireles also has positive effects on our young Josh. It will develops completely with Meireles. Modric is a bit too young, 25 years old. By the time Modric is aging, Josh is also 25 years old. A bit too slow.

Plus, I am happy with Chelsea this time. No more silly move, 40m for Modric? nah. Don't think we're stupid Spurs.

So, from what I understand from Meireles play style, he will play behind the strikers. We will play 4231.

One more reason why we do not sign Modric:
Modric doesn't really play behind the strikers, he plays in a deeper role.

The disappointment of us not getting Modric is obviously huge for you.
If we got no one like Modric,Meireles and went for Pereira/Ribery, Mata will switch to a middle role.

AVB said, we're versatile in many formations, 4231 or 433. But with AVB playing wide forwards in 433, then it's pretty same with 4231.

Excuse me, Benayoun and Torres are the only ex-liverpool players after RA took over. And both of them are under the same manager, Carlo. I am not here to blame Carlo, but his winning formula was to play all the experience seniors who are already very old now.

I don't like comparing Raul and Luka. Both players are class, maybe Modric might be a bit better though. I actually don't understand any "creativity' stuff. In my opinion, a team creativity doesn't come from a single player, it comes from the 11 players, yes including the keeper. Whenever the 11 players gel together, the creativity will come.
Modric's long passes ability has been incredible, but just a little bit better than Meireles. But when it comes to attacking, Meireles is the man. He has wonderful technique with his foot.


As I said before, the reason why we signed Meireles instead of Modric is not only the price tag, it actually give some positive signs to our youth system. Our young stars are developing, the manager wants a signing like Meireles to provide the support we need in short term while we wait for the young stars in the making to develop.

A bit harsh here, but I got to say it.
As a fan of the football club, we need to get behind AVB and the team and show some faith.

I have doubts on Lampard playing behind the striker, not sure can he do magic there. Meireles played as a holding defensive midfield on his early time in Porto. AVB might try this again, let's see how it works. Ramires and Meireles interchanging with the role of attacking and defence. One go up, one go down. Just like Khedira-Schweinsteiger in Germany.
