I would say if you can get a good condition Honda City then definitely for for Honda City. Fuel economy both should be similar but the driving comfort I'll go with the city anytime

I would go for a new car,no doubt honda city is alot better compared to myvi, but the age of the car contributes alot when deciding for an example when it comes to fc an old honda city won't give you the efficiency a new myvi can give and in terms of maintainance a second hand car may give trouble which is not covered under warranty and on top of that the level of comfort in a second hand car in this case the honda city would have been better than myvi but due to the age of the car it might be just equal or lower. Conclusion get a new car keep away from second hand cars unless you get it from someone trusted.Btw myvi is not a great car either just fork out some extra cash and get a better car biggrin.gif

i drive new vios. e spec.

my uncle, actually drive old honda city, the previous generation, and i could feel that his city is far more better in term of comfort, compare to my vios

if you are able to find a good condition old honda city, i really recommend it.

i personally believe that myvi will give you rattling noise in less than a year.

myvi
1.3L engine with DVVT
small thus easy on parking space
less boot space
Warranty
not for highway/long distance
less room for people

honda city
1.5L engine with vtec/IDSI
proven high quality car
nice interior
Depend on condition
more room for people
nice n smooth ride/comfort
CVT with manual overide transmission(mostly on VTEC model)

if me, i dont care 2nd hand car if the condition is very nice and the previous owner know how to maintain the car( can ask ur mechanic about the car condition)
and rm50k++ for compact car with normal feature, ugly design is overprice.

2nd hand car u have to look at the age of the car/ previous owner / accident free / maintenance and most importantly mileage..

if all is good 2 go.. i'd say go for city..

altho myvi is a new car.. but i agree.. mayb after 1 year.. rattling sound starts appearing..

anyway.. get a good foreman with u.. and ask him tag along when u wan to test the honda city.. if u are not urgent in getting a car.. just look around for more options.. some time.. u might hit bullseye.. right..? =)

just my 2cent.. =)

P.S

my fren have myvi and honda city. but sold myvi instead.. driving city for 1 year+ now.. i dont hear any complaints coming from him besides myvi.. soft front and rear bumper.. XD

i might add that if you are planning to buy a new myvi, get the baseline instead. in my opinion it really a good buy since it comes with 2 airbag and EPS as standard. the full spec is kinda pricey and it does not differ much just additional fancy accessories

If you know how to maintain 2nd cars then go ahead and buy City..

If you know NUTS about cars, then just go for brand new car since you can always send it to Service Center for warranty and services...and should be problem free for at least 3 years for wear and tear parts...

Just to let you know that Jap Cars quality is some how > Malaysian cars however their ORIGINAL spare parts is not that cheap as well compared to Malaysian cars. Since it's an used car, prepare additional RM2-3k (since it's Honda) for full lube service, belt changes and to replace other wear & tear parts..

Not sure if Honda City uses timing chain or timing belt, but if it uses timing belt, change that as well together with the water pump. Don't trust the previous owner claim that they have just replace the belt unless got receipt provided. If the belt snaps then more $$$ will fly, estimated around RM4-7k easily biggrin.gif

New Myvi vs 2nd Honda City?

Honda City FTW no contest

but like others said, it depend on the car u get. 2nf hand car doesn't meant it always bad @ lemon one while new also can't guarantee u'll get problem-free car

Honda city babe. Get a low mileage & good condition used one and you'd be happier than a myvi. More boot space, quieter, more powerful.

Plus is, if someone dents or scratches your car, you'd be having less of a heartache than a new car.

if you want simplicity, just get myvi...

if 2nd city you will need to deal with wear and tear items..and honda parts are not as cheap as perodua parts

if i were to buy a 2nd hand car, off course i will spare some money for wear and tear. it's normal.

buying a 2nd hand car will need you to inspect the car more detail to make sure the car can be consider as good condition. you will need the help of a trusted and reliable mechanic and if you personally know the owner then it will be better.

compare a less than a year vios and at least 5 years honda city, city is way better, to be honest. i felt kinda rip off by toyota.

City 2005~2007 uses timing chain. I keep receipts for all of my service and maintenance... all except the 40k km one... lost already. I assume this will give my future buyer more assurance and less worries when he knows what I've changed at what date.
