Agreed! Malaysia is only for filthy rich... if you are from low to mid level salaried person (salary below RM7K), u will damn suffer there.
*
I dont see why a person with salary of below 7k will be suffer in Malaysia? Too general your statement, if someone is having salary of 5k to 7k, life should be quite comfortable. However, if you compare to someone who want to live like a king, then, even 50k salary also not enough. shakehead.gif

Any web site for seeking a rent? cant get my room, start my job next month....
*
You go to the many websites and look at the advertisement with agents, and ask the agent to find a room for you, there are so many agents there. They also looking for customers like you unless you are looking for no agent advertisement to save the agent fees. You can come down to singapore and go to bus stop, bus station or supermarket where they have some advertisement board and chekc out yourself if anyone posting rooms for let.

opss... then i correct my statement, i live comfortably in JB with my current work permit pay. only Seantang, Mackiddo and mayb Mercury can live like King in Malaysia.
*
Comfortable and not luxurious. As luxurious had a berry berry broad defination for each individuals.

Staying in JB is cheaper compare to singapore but you need to compromise the time lost with money saved. But if can car pool to come to Singapore, really can save a lot of SGD $$$$ from room rental and parking fees each month. rclxms.gif

I been applying for job that allow me to apply for S-pass for few months, so far still fail. I think I have to lower my expected my salary to WP now. is SGD1800 is enough for me save 30% of my salary.

my estimation:
Rental:700
Food:300
Transportation:200
no entertainment
still at bordeline to save 30% of salary. I can apply for similiar job in Malaysia to save on my rental , but my job scope require me to travel using my own transport, when my car had been stolen. really headache now. >_>
*
Room rental no need 700 and you can always look for twin sharing so you can cut your room rental to may be 250-300. Look for a job where it is nearby to the place you stay and buy a bicycle and cycle to work if possible. Within a year to two, you will have lots of savings and can return to Malaysia to work and buy a new car with cash. Only worry once you enter Spore, your lifestyle change and you like to hangout at Starbucks, movies, and etc. hmm.gif

Aiya, that has nothing to do with the town. It's about you and the wife/gf you choose. If you like the type who contribute problems but don't contribute income, then you deal with it lor.
*
Not really, gals from small towns are less demanding than gals from Cities. Last time, when i was a fresh graduate that time, i worked near to Bukit Selambau and Kuala Ketil, small kampung where you see the kampung gals all wear simple simple, and they all have a simple ordinary life, but sekali i transferred back to KL, start seeing all the party gals, clubbing gals, branded-mind gals.... rclxub.gif

Guys, any of you know what is "Payee Branch Code?"

I need to pay rental soon. Landlady gave me her POSB bank account number, 9 digits. I'm trying to add this to my internet banking so that I don't need to actually queue up at an ATM. However my internet banking thing also requires a "Payee Branch Code" - my landlady has no idea what this is.

On the dropdown list I've got like dozens of possible choices, examples:

...
252 PAYMENT OPS(CHQ & GIRO)
016 PAYMENT OPS(REMITTANCE)
081 POSB
072 RAFFLES PLACE (72)
003 SHENTON WAY (03)
009 SHENTON WAY (09)
050 SHENTON WAY (50)
...

Google tells me "All POSB branches have the same branch code — 081. The actual branch is embedded in the 9-digit account number." so I'm thinking to choose 081. worst case scneario is that my funds transfer gets rejected, right?

Yea, its odd that you dont get food if u work late nites. When i am onboard the rigs i get essentially unlimited free food and drinks. Best part is the kitchen is open 24/7  so if you have the late nite munchies, you can still have some leftovers or if the chief cook is generous, he'll bake some fresh sausage rolls for tea breaks. Plus every fortnight is BBQ nite.

what i can do now is either call up HR MANAGER or hiring manager right?
Since the HR personnel in charge of my case said she ard helped me appeal.
But in fact she did not.
She cheated me.
While i think the hiring manager doesnt even know of this.
or what else can i do?
pls advice
*
Please do not assume that the HR personnel had cheated you as based on your non factual findings. If you insist on calling the hiring manager, just explain to him that your application had got rejected, please consult him whether he can help or not but dont mentioned the HR cheat on you because what if it is not and before you work as a permanent staffs, you already starting to accuse and finger pointing for things that you not 100% sure.

sgd 350*lets say 26 days = sgd 9.1k .... ok what, reasonable

Normally what i see if you pay half month rental commission to the agent, the other half month are paid by the landlord, that was i experience last time when i rent a room through agent. Would it be 18.2k now? hmm.gif Very lucrative??? drool.gif

In Sabah, particulary KK, the living expenses is pretty high and is almost on par like KL but salary still remain low...People from Sabah cant wait to get out and you want to go there pula. May be you can consider working inside those palm oil plantation.

anyway yes it is in property agent's best interest to drive the prices higher. higher price = higher commission for them mah. but this is also supported by high demand - if got low demand high supply, agents however bullsh*t you also they got not much influence to increase prices.

If you talk about single storey landed house and not inside city area, probably still got a lot. biggrin.gif
