Hi,

Need urgent help. Does anybody have any contractor contact that is willing to continue a half-way job. The structure for the concrete table top (6 ft) is completed. Left tiling job. Tiles have been purchased.

Recommendation of Indon workers also is welcomed.

Thanks so much in advance.

Thanks for all the feedback and assistance rendered by so many of you who have PMed me contact numbers.

Well, here's my story: -
I got a quote to re-tile my bathroom tiles which have "popped" earlier from a Malay contractor. The quote was way very low compared to a few others who have also quoted me. As promised he came with his Indon workers and they completed the job quite well.

Since I had planned to replace my kitchen top (plastic type) with a proper concrete top and tiles, I asked the same Malay contractor for a quote and again, it was pretty cheap. I agreed and paid half the sum agreed. The Indon workers came to do the concrete structure and promised to come a few days later to complete the tiling and cabinet installation.

They did not come on the promised date, the day after and the following days subsequent thereafter. I kept calling the Malay contractor and he did not answer the call. I called the Indon worker too and he said the Malay contractor didn't supply him with the tiles, etc. After a week, the Malay contractor smsed me and said that he had misquoted me and could not continue with the work. I called the Indon worker again and I understood from him that the Malay contractor only paid him half his agreed labour costs. Thank God, I told him I will pay the balance and buy the needed materials and yes, the Indon worker came yesterday to complete the tiling job (without the cabinet).

Really appreciate all the comments and assistance rendered and of course, I'm grateful to God! smile.gif

I thought of this question when posting my story but then I concluded that each case is different in its own way and it may be difficult to generalize a lesson learnt. Looking at the positive side, I'm happy to meet a couple of sincere forumers who offered to help by giving opinions and contacts through this episode. And that God did answer prayers smile.gif

Unless the Indon worker cheated me, I paid him the balance of what he's supposed to get from the Malay contractor. So, he got his deal and I didn't have to fork out more than what I've budgeted. In fact, I got a Chinese contractor to come for a quote to complete the unfinished task and he quoted me more than the total I'm paying for the entire job just to finish the tiling and he needed 2 days and I just said, no thanks (despite my desperation to complete the task back then).
