If you switch on the down lights together with the L box lights, should not have shadow.
Why don't you use 6" down lights instead of 4". The top and bottom, have 2 nos instead of only 1.

if the edge of ceiling fan to the L-box edging is about 2feet distance, that would be fine no shadow.
check distance between the downlight, worry the light not bright enough for both side without L-box light. Kelvyn is correct, you should use 6" downlight instead and both top and bottom too. try to use 28W, else i think will not bright enough.

The center of your living room would be dark as there are no lights in this zone. All your lights are concentrated along the edges.

Also the L box light should be continuous on all four sides. Else there would dark areas where there are no L box lights.

What is I'm planning to have a plain flat plaster ceiling and will put down lights. Basically four down lights for the living hall and four for dining area. This is a condo.

Do you think is enough? Should I put square or round down lights? 6' or 4'?

Your suggestion is much appreciated smile.gif

Depends on the size of your living hall and dining area. You will need to allow for the ceiling fan in the middle.

Square or round does not really matter. Up to your preference. Somebody once told me that if using the square down lights, there may be the alignment problem. Meaning that when you install the square down lights, you need to make sure that the edges are in a straight line. Else if may not look nice if they are crooked. Round ones are not so prominent. Depends on how fussy you are  smile.gif

For 6" down light, you could use double lamp; while for 4", mostly are single lamp. In some cases, you could still squeeze in double but will be very very tight

Suggest that you bring your layout plan to the light fittings shop and they should be able to advice you.
