Hi to all mothers & to-be's ...

I am 9 weeks pregnant,, after marrying for 3years.. had a miscarriage 2 years back... So everyone is happy and delighted.. but at the same time, they are all torturing me and restraining me from doing anything everything!!!

Like,, taking the stairs... driving a car... going for a swim... walking slightly fast... going for a movie... drinking carbonated drinks... and so on..

So I just wanted to get some advice on what actually can I do and what I should avoid... hope the first timers can gain benefit too.. thanks...

9 weeks?

My no 1 no-no during 1st trimester is telling people that you're pregnant. Because spontaneous abortion may occur due to no fault of your own - e.g chromosomal abnormalities.

Load up on folic acid and fish oil biggrin.gif

My wife's sister had miscarriage also - bcos she takes public transport in spore and had to rush to and from work - all the stress and physical strain was part of cause.

during the next pregnancy, her hubby bought a car just to ferry her around - and viola! everything went ok.

Now they are happy with 2 kids smile.gif

Firstly, congratulations! Some pantang larang is not to tell others during the first trimester but since you already did for good purposes! I think you listed most of the things not to do!

taking the stairs... driving a car... going for a swim... walking slightly fast... going for a movie... drinking carbonated drinks... and so on..

Some of it, can do but please, with care. We also avoided cinema because we believed that confined space may contain bacteria and viruses not good for our body.

The best advice i can give is to listen to your doctor. If he/she says it is ok to do... it is ok to do, no matter what anyone else says.

Walking and swimming are the 2 most recommended forms of exercise for pregnant women (during the entire pregnancy) as they are about as low stress as you can get but will keep your body in shape so you actually have some kind of chance of having a natural delivery (if you sit in bed for 9 months there is no way you will be fit enough to last through even an hour of labor).

I understand that you are concerned because you have previously had a miscarriage, but to be honest no one can tell you what caused it, often there is no reason other than the fact that the pregnancy simply wasn't viable.
Of course as soon as you find out you are pregnant i would suggest abstaining from extreme sports, however also remember that pregnancy is a natural thing that has been happening since before man kind existed, it isn't a disease so don't let people treat you like you are disabled!

(This is of course all IMHO from the upbringing i have had as well as my experience with pregnancy so far, at 34weeks).

Eat well but not overeat. 3 important meals are more than enough, if you get hungry easily, prepare some healthy snacks.

Do not carry heavy objects and being too aggressive in sports or any physical activities (including sex)
