hi there,

i got one question. i have an age old ibm thinkpad r30 (pentium III 1.0 Ghz with 256 mb RAM (128x2 unit = i checked it using BelArc Prog) and I would like to upgrade the RAM to at least 512 mb or 1Gb RAM. Which Kingston RAM Model i should look for as I understand that pentium III motherboard cannot support more than 256 Mb RAM in a single stick and it has to be 16 chips?

Please advise.. thank you...

just asking , why most thinkpad sellers are hard to reveal the machine type and model together with the serial number to the buyers. is there any harm can the buyer or anyone else do with the details???

I'll try to answer you as a seller point of view...

1) You might not be a serious buyer.
2) Revealing these detail its just like revealing your identity. Do you simply reveal your IC number? although its just the combination of Birthdate-Loc-ID?
3) With these identity, you can register this notebook and granted ownership if you know how to(ofcause the owner can change back by going through all the hassle).

Even you talking about other brands, do they reveal the serial number? I doubt so...

- Yes im a serious buyer, as i also need to know the history of the particular machine that i would buy.
- with the mach type and sn, i would give lenovo a call and ask for the history of the thinkpad through the mach type and sn,
- with the mach type and sn , i would know the exact spec.

i dont think we can compare revealing mach type and sn equally like revealing our IC.
i assumed it just something like ur car plate number.
-imagine purchasing a second hand car without knowing the the car registration plate number and not able to cod. u only know it a wira 1.5 with a warranty that would end 2011.
