I've used a T42 for bout a year before and what can I say .. by far one of the best I've ever used .. Surprisingly, I feel like it's even better than the latest Dell Latitude E6400 that I'm having now ..

Ignoring the difference in specs that is .. my experience with it in typing, mouse track, etc .. superb ..

I was planning to get T61, in anywhere I can find it .. 2nd hand probably ..

What do you guys think about T61, I've been reading reviews that said it's like heaven and hell when you compared that to T42. T61 is a big no no to many people. ..

Hey Guys,

Looking through the current Lenovo Website, I am configuring the following specs:

T580
Intel Core i7-8650U Processor (8MB Cache, up to 4.20 GHz)
15.6" UHD IPS (3840x2160) AntiGlare 300nits
16GB DDR4 2400MHz SODIMM
256GB Solid State Drive M.2 2280 NVMe, Opal 2.0

With the CNY Discount on the Site, the price comes up to RM 6249. Do you think there are any other ways for further discount for the specs above or this will be it?
Would you recommend other models with Similar Customization specs over T580 with about the same spec and price?

try consider the Nvidia mx150 for 4k screen, check the battery as well

OR

try 480s, though it only comes with WQHD screen 2560x1440, the specs are quite decent..

It didn't have MX150 as part of the T580 selection. However, that is fine since I am planning to have an eGPU if I really do want it in the future..
So, making sure that it has Thunderbolt port.

What is the main usage for your laptop? 256GB seems a bit small. My advice is get the smallest SSD from Lenovo and upgrade to bigger size once received the laptop.
*
Mostly Work, probably running multiple Virtual Machines.
Loves movies .. so that's why I'm configuring a better screen. I do see how this contradict a little with my option in statement above.
Would love to see some OLED Screens but guess that's not coming soon enough for Lenovo.

There is an intention to install a second SSD if there is available slots.

Got the 15% discount and the 3 year warranty upgrade is a great deal. I fell in love with Lenovo with X280 that was given to me @ workplace..I have to say the keyboard is just amazing....

was waiting for T490s to replace my beloved T460s, then I realized they dropped RJ45 in T490s... then immediately pulled my trigger on T480s..

Just get the cheapest with same spec - 2400MHz CL17

Do you guys happen to know whether it actually voids warranty to open up the casing and change the RAMs?
I have checked this with the Service Chat Staff on the Website and they mentioned just by doing so actually voids their Warranty. Wondering how true that is.

What a disappointment ..
It says that it will arrive yesterday by end of day .. waited the whole day at home and yet nothing show up.
Today re-check status, now changed to "In Transit" ...

It's finally here .. tongue.gif ..

Specs as followed:

Intel Core i7-8650U Processor (8MB Cache, up to 4.20 GHz)
Windows 10 Home 64
14.0" WQHD (2560x1440), IPS, Anti-Glare, 300nits
8GB DDR4 2400MHz SODIMM
NVIDIA GeForce MX150 GDDR5 2G
Infrared & 720p HD Camera with Microphone
No Fingerprint Reader
First Hard Drive: 256GB Solid State Drive M.2 2280 NVMe, Opal 2.0
Second Hard Drive: None
No Smart Card Reader
3 Cell Li-Ion 24Wh Front
3cell Battery 24Wh Rear
Intel Dual Band Wireless AC(2x2) 8265, Bluetooth Version 4.1, vPro

It's not too bad ..
Just realized that even when compared against my 1st Edition X1C, the X1C still has an overall better built and feel.

Does T480 has no ThinkShutter?
Mine doesn't look like there is anything for me to move and cover the cameras..

What accessories do you guys currently have to work with your Thinkpad?
Could be Lenovo or 3rd Party Items..

1. Laptop stand + cooling fan

2. USB Hub

I am thinking of getting eGPU with 1080 or RTX2070
*
Was actually thinking about eGPU with 1080Ti too...
Still isn't fully sure how this will all worked out..
The initial idea I have is to have a Docking System with a separate eGPU connecting to it. Will this be possible?

** I don't wanna buy the Docking with integrated GPU version from Lenovo.
