Austin, then where to get the extra RAM installed, just to ask? I really need to go for heavier RAM so that the computer will not always lag when online or doing some work...

Aiyoo! 4Gb ram on a lappy? With this crappy vga card and this tiny 14.1" screen, may i know what you guys doin with it? Encoding HD-DVD? Hardcore Photoshoping? Rendering or modeling 3D graphics? Programing 3D games? Play hardcore game on your lappy? Got too much spare $$?

If non of above is what you do with your lappy..

1-2Gb is enuf for run Vista smoothly and alot application already.. 4Gb.. far too much for a lappy to fully utilize ba..

I think bro Austin must be a pro graphic designer(with very good eyesight too, 14.1" screen wahlauu!)

If i got those spare cold hard cash i'll opt for more Levi's jeans hehe!

Dont flame me ah! im noob i know nothing bout piccie de sad.gif

Cheers!

Its good to know that R60 support 4GB RAM. rclxms.gif
Since most of the application and games doesn't utilise this huge amount of RAM and also the expensive price, I think it is not a wise idea to upgrade now.I can live with 1.24 GB RAM I have now. laugh.gif

If want to connect like that then just use desktop ba.. cheaper ram and faster proc/vga card.. (Good spec + cheap priced) drool.gif

Neway your rig look really messy.. rclxub.gif

Bout the ramdisk.. yeah instead is a good software to fully utilize the ram.. But what the main purpose for HDD? External HDD? dont this 2 far more cheaper then lappy ram? (Correct me if i make mistake here)

p/s: Dont worry rich ppl got the power to be cocky de hehe! I just come as a noob to learn more stuff from you guys (SIFU)! rclxms.gif

Yups, i have to agree with u there... The computer runs like a slowpoke nowadays, due to the much faster and memory-consuming applications available... Dunno how much will it cost for an upgrade to 512MB RAM leh?

Portability wise, I won't want to carry a 17" wide screen laptop, so of course when I go outstation I have to adapt myself to 14" LCD.
Instead if I stay at home, why not utilise the VGA Port and my 22" LCD leh?

RAM Disk is for ppl to install frequently used programs, not for storage ok?
The main purpose is to speed up the programs loading time.

As for messy? well I don't understand here.... Messy in terms of which part leh?

Please enlighten me cos seems like I more noob than you woh cry.gif

Yeah, same design as R60. I prefer the RAM slot at the bottom of the laptop not sure why they design it in this way. rclxub.gif

Yeah, the palmrest thing is quite pesky, requires quite a lot of force to actually take it off. It definitely makes it harder for someone to steal your RAM!

Instructions to open it should be in the Thinkpad service booklet smile.gif

Btw, 4GB is just not worth it at the moment. For me, I'm lucky because the software I use has distributed computer support so I can utilize multiple computers to do my work - much cheaper. Btw depending on the work you do, 4GB is way way not enough. For me to properly do work, I'd need around 16gigs, but oh well. Hard disks are so slow.

For me, 4GB is a bit too heavy for a laptop... If thats for my desktop, then i'm willing to consider... In the meantime, the proposed expansion of my RAM to 512MB should be more than enough as it will be the same size as that of my desktop!

You are too humble liao, you talk like so expert, where got noob? I am more noob gua so should learn from you..

How much faster? I only know the random access time on RAM is near to zero, on 7200rpm Hard Disk is more or less 12ms.

As for want vomit? wah piang you should check your eyes edi... something wrong.
14" XGA resolution is big enough to display any fonts.

the way I "dump" my rigs? funny ler, tell me if not put on my table, then put terbalik? or put at your room? lolz

Thanks Mr.Austin

-Thanks for answer me.. so if i dig out few k on ram can get 12MS faster (ok make it 12sec) then 7200RPM HDD? Ah then this not for me le i rather wait.. slower is better *wink* *wink*

-My eyes got problem (I check it everyear, thanks for tellin me this).. if i didn wear spec.. i need to sit very near to the screen. (Try put your head near to screen for hours and do your stuff then ah see why i vomit)

-Bout the way u "arrange" (I call it "dump", couse i dont have desktop i "dump" all my lappy everywhere inside my room) your rig no offend here bro.. maybe your room kinda small or u got too many stuff on your room that why u need to "arrange" all your rig soo near and then sure it look like kinda messy hope u get me right..

Hehe thanks for bold all words for me. Btw i just ask for my answer didn mean expert or what(not being cocky also couse im not rich).. couse spend few k on ram really make me curious how much better it will be. If it is alot more better then i'm sure i'll load my lappy with max ram my lappy can take.

Cheers and thanks hope didn offend anyone here.
