QUOTE(Orzie @ Sep 16 2018, 10:27 AM) Hi guys, anybody faced similar situation like mine? this is normally bad hardware connected to the USB port...Whenever I pluged in my Lenovo wireless mouse, my touchpad will be sluggish (slow cursor + can't recognize my soft tap on touchpad). I had to remove the USB received and restart my laptop to fix this issue, which is kinda troublesome. I guess there is some conflict between the touchpad and mouse? |

QUOTE(fatc555 @ Oct 13 2018, 04:02 PM) may i ask i am a student my budget is around rm 3000 i interested on lenovo thinkpad t480 480s series or x280 but it already over my budget a lot, is worth for me to increase more of the budget to buy the thinkpad t-series, x280 ? or the consumer model laptop like hp, acer and asus will enough for the university student can use with longer time? because it price would could around rm3980 with 15%student discount which near the rm 4000 are quite more expensive and also should university student use the business grade laptop for doing the assignment? thinkpad made for business user, if you are a student , there are a lot of good laptop out there with great specification, I would recommend HP or Inspiron.. |

QUOTE(teddymonster @ Nov 12 2018, 11:17 PM) Hey, I have used business laptop since Dell Latitude and XPS series, the similar footprint for me at least is is the Ultrabook and I ended up just like you, X1 carbon or T480s. Looking to purchase my first thinkpad and i've narrowed it down to the X1 Carbon & T480s. Went through alot of youtube & website reviews, and seems that although on paper you can choose the same WQHD resolutions, the panels used for both models are different, with the X1 carbon having the better/ brighter panel. Customized it through the msia lenovo site with the same specs, but the T480s is 20% cheaper. Would the 20% extra for the x1 carbon be worth it for the so called "better" screen panel & being 200gram lighter? Any advice is welcomed to help me choose between these 2. Spec wise: - i7 - 8550u - Display: 2560 x 1440, IPS, Anti Glare , Non HDR - 16 gb ram - 512 gb SSD - WWAN - 65W AC adapter PS. I'm also aware the 480s gives more options for upgradability of its RAMs etc, but I doubt I would ug anything in the future as these specs would suit my current needs. Aiming to get a service life of at least 4-5 years. The only reason I max out spec on the laptop is to run autocad, and T480s has the Nvidia MX150 2GB VRAM, plus RJ45 for Ethernet port which X1 Carbon lack of. So I chose T480s with your spec above but I purchased seperate 1tb ssd, ,max ram can go up to 24gb. For heavy multitasking with a light autocad, t480s is perfect for business class with portability, at least for me. T480s use DDR4 and X1 Carbon uses DDR3 Soldered. You can easily hold T480s with one hand, for sure, been using this for few months now.The battery will last throughout the working hours, guaranteed. have a look on the spec comparison below: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/compare/Leno...REG_1404772-REG This post has been edited by afiqsabri: Nov 13 2018, 03:21 PM |

QUOTE(jrlogger @ Nov 13 2018, 09:36 AM) Pretty sure the non HDR WQHD panels are same/similar with the T480s and X16C. The X1 will only have better panels if you pick the FHD ones or the HDR one. X1 Carbon has 2 TB3 and 2 USB A, not 4 TB3.For the 20% extra you get: Smaller footprint & thinner bezels Slightly better keyboard (~0.1mm more travel) Glass trackpad Nicer feeling coating 4 lane Thunderbolt 3 ports IMO the main advantage for the T480s is the cheaper price, the upgradability, SD card slot and slightly better performance due to better cooling. If those are not much of a concern, the X1 may be a better choice. corrected This post has been edited by afiqsabri: Nov 13 2018, 03:24 PM |

QUOTE(teddymonster @ Nov 16 2018, 04:34 PM) I use MYUS forwarding company, depends on the country and how much you declare them, Im not residing in Malaysia, working in middle east. So nearly RM300 for DHL (a week delivery) and RM 200 for custom duty. Indeed its a lot but the configuration and luckily it was on sale that time. |

QUOTE(keyser soze @ Dec 12 2018, 12:01 PM) Received my X1 Carbon last week. Found that Lenovo no longer using Samsung SSD but their own Lenovo brand (model: LENSE30512GMSP34MEAT3TA), which is a bit slow if compare to Samsung SSD. Anyone facing the same problem? look for intel 600p series NVME SSD, quite good as well, up to 500 MBps write speedm been using them for 2 years now....I also hand itchy to open up the cover and replace the stock heat paste with liquid metal. Now the fan is much quiet at full load did not heard anything while typing this message. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/pro...00p-series.html |

QUOTE(myself379 @ Dec 12 2018, 11:42 AM) I was curious about the differences between WQHD and FHD screen, particularly for T480. I went to the store at the weekend and take a look at it myself. wqhd is great enough (mine is wqhd), any laptop with 300 nits is good enough for indoor usage....Really have differences, WQHD really smooth, side by side comparison. FHD is good for me, but WQHD really makes things smooth and popup (probably due to 300 nits). But it costs so much |

QUOTE(physz.86 @ Dec 14 2018, 09:30 PM) Hi all.. have a look on the T480s, got Nvidia Mx150 2gb, great for light editing...I fall in love with Lenovo Thinkpad laptop. I just like it’s design. Very stylish. I’m thinking to purchase one model but not sure yet which model should I buy. Spec wise, as long as I can do multitasking; surfing, photoshop, excel, ppt without lagging should be fine to me. At the moment I love Yoga A380, X1.. but the price quite expensive. |

QUOTE(zenman @ Dec 18 2018, 10:04 AM) Yes, it seems the model is the last one of its kind to have upgradeable socket type CPUs but I think I'll stay with the installed Haswell CPU (4th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-4300M (2 cores, Up to 3.30 GHz, 3MB L3) as I'm satisfied with the processing power. Thanks for the link. take the serial number of the laptop, go to lenovo website, they have all the details of the parts hardware with the part number.Any suggestion for a compatible M.2 SSD would be much appreciated. with that part number of a specific hardware, you can google them and identify their spec I use this method to install my own laptop smart card reader with the ribbon cable...it works or PM me the serial number, I might be able to help |
