Thinking of going GB on my O2X, and getting tired of waiting for LG's official GB.

Is it okay to use BB 0622 (from Singtel SEA V10D) with CM7_150 or Topogigi's 1.6/1.7 (new!) GB?

Or should I smartflash the baseband to 0725 first? I hear doing this will totally wipe the internal SD....urgh!

I'm a little bit messed up about the sequence. If I straightaway flash the bb to 0823 it will delete my current Froyo 2.2.2 nandroid backup stored on the Internal SD, right?

One really stupid question coming up, (laugh if you must, but please be patient with this clueless newbie to android ) - if the device is completely wiped, how to do a nandroid restore after that? The ROM Manager app and CWM will no longer exist on the phone, right?

That's great news! I think a couple of last questions and then I'll take the plunge in a few hours time....if I smartflash the bb first, then I can skip the wiping of the Dalvik and Data Caches using CWM prior to flashing the new ROM?

I plan to start afresh with Topogigi's 1.7 ROM and won't be restoring my apps/data from Titanium Backup. I have backup-ed my contacts on gmail, all crucial sms and call logs are also backed up to the pc.

I also plan to remove the SIM and external SD from the phone during the whole process of changing the baseband and installing the new ROM. I assume they are not required to be present during this time?

Okay, just flashed to Topogigi 1.7, without changing the baseband (still keeping to 0622 for now). Seems to run fine so far...with discernible improvement in speed! I guess I will test it for a few more days before flashing the baseband to 0725 or 0823.

So far no major issues with Topogigi 1.7.

WiFi & GPS works fine out of the box. Only battery seems to run down a bit faster, and screen autorotate is not functioning - maybe because my baseband 0622 is not for Gingerbread? What baseband are you topogigi users on?

parek, you've no problems at all with the screen autorotate function? I'll try 0725 next.

My home screen won't autorotate. However, apps which support autorotate are autorotating without any problem.

haha...barely getting used to v1.7, now got v1.7 SP1. And topogigi is hinting at releasing v1.8 already.

Anyways, I'm going to flash my bb to 0725 tonite (since that's what topogigi himself is using), and then do a new flash of the v1.7 wipe + SP1. See whether can get rid of the autorotate problem.

My LG Home screen also won't autorotate after changing to bb0725. Autorotate does work with Go Launcher Ex, so there's nothing wrong with the hardware or kernel.

Looking at the layout of the LG Home Screen, I'm beginning to think it's not supposed to be able to autorotate. parek, are you sure your LG Home Screen (the default Home Screen in topogigi v1.7) can rotate?

Heads up, topogigi fans. v1.8 is out! Having a hard time keeping up with the latest updates...barely getting used to v1.7SP1, now this.

I sokong! Specifically topogigi v1.7SP1. My LG O2X is running almost flawlessly on it.

The battery standby time is marvelous.

Yesterday I charged up to FULL in the morning before I left for work at 7 a.m. Used for some calls and sms, about 20 minutes of GPS activity in Papago, updated some apps.....and I was still at 95% at 7 pm. Watched about 1 1/2 hours of movies , about 15 minutes of browsing at bedtime....the battery dropped to 65% at midnight.

This morning....battery at 64%, again charged to FULL as usual. Now it is still reading 99% (was at 100% until around 2 pm) after a few usual calls and sms.

BTW I always charge it with the provided original AC adapter - no issues there at all.

Since I installed BB0725 and totogigi v1.7 SP1, I've had a freezeup just once - launching Papago while running GPS Test and GPS status in the background ; it required a quick reboot and worked fine after that.

I'm trying v1.8 tonite. If it can improve on v1.7P1....I've died and gone to heaven!

I'm running topogigi v1.7SP1 with CM7 Home Theme. Best of both worlds

Rock steady, fast and smooth. Far, far better than the old stock Froyo 2.2.2 on 0622 (v10D) which, while it did not give me BSODs, was stuttering and jerking all over in comparison.

It's not the original CM7 Theme, of course. I use Go Launcher Ex, and load the CyanogenMod theme for it. That's why I only only dare say it's CM7 Home Theme...not CM7 Theme.

Telekoms Malaysia have blocked some sites like megaupload, fileserve. But google around a bit lah, you should be able to find a solution (pitywoman has given a strong hint).

BTW topogigi v1.8 SP1 is also available already. Don't forget to grab it too.

Currently using v1.8 with SP1. No noticeable change from v1.7 SP1 performancewise. Also stable and speedy.

brian12988, maybe you need v1.9 (out already!)...supposed to fix WiFi problems. The upgrades are coming so fast now I've no time to check each rom fully. I'll probably skip v1.9 for the time being since I have no issues detected so far on v1.8SP1.

nightlife173, if you're asking about battery life in topogigi rom, I'm happy to report that I have no battery leak on standby.....and I've enable OC to 1216Mhz by default.

Do it for the fun, and if it becomes too much trouble...leave it be, that's my philosophy.

I use my O2X for business, so it's critical I don't get caught out with too many bugs at any time. That's why I think topogigi's GB roms are a godsent. They're definitely an improvement over the stock Froyo, though maybe not as fanciful as CM7 in features. However, there's stability, speed and very few issues IF YOU FOLLOW TOPOGIGI'S INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS to the letter. Most of the problems reported seem to be due to the fact that the affected user is trying to do his own mix-and-match of features, and not following the recommended procedures in flashing.

for example, topogigi's warning that one should not nandroid customised roms using CWM, which makes cow-sense. But still we can see people doing it...and then blaming the rom after getting BSODs and bootloops.

That was my first thought too.

The BB0725/V20c on topogigi's link will match with V20i once you flash the topogigi rom, just use lah.

I just remembered there was one funny bug in v1.8 SP1....the front camera captures upside down views....it is funny to use! But unfortunately it makes it a bit difficult to put on my makeup in the morning loh.

I guess I'll flash to v1.9 after all.
