Guys, just want your thoughts and info on the best LED TV in the market now with the respective prices. So far i managed to get the following:

1) LG 42LE7500 (Edge LED) for RM 3300
2) LG 42LV3730 (Edge LED) for RM 2750
3) Philips 40PFL6606 (Smart LED) for RM 3400 - i believe this is not officially launched yet

Can anybody get better prices for the above TV's or have any better recommendations?

maybe you should consider the resolution, features, you need then go down to the brand and price.

personally i was looking for 1920X1080 + led and maybe LAN connectivity for my media streaming.

2k odd range is the working range

if there was IPS Led i would wait or jump in biggrin.gif at this range

Check the specs for the TV's mentioned above and ull see. Yes im comparing all the specs e.g LED type, contrast ratio, power consumption, motion ratio, response time.

1920X1080 is Full HD specs which is normal now.

RM2K plus is not the working range all the time. Most of these TV's are min RM 3K which is why im asking if anybody can get the TV's mentioned above for less. The LG 42LV3730 (Smart LED) was only launched in June and seems to be the best for that price range.

It is always up to individual preference, whether Plasma, LCD or LED.
Plasma is said to have better resolution as compared to LCD/ LED. But plasma screen will needs breaking-in for the 1st 100 - 200 hours. This is to allow for a balance maturing of the phosphor.

Even after the initial breaking-in, there is the other risk of image retention. You stand a high risk if the you watch some of the Astro channels that have static logos on the screen. eg. Playhouse Disney logo

My whole family have been using Sony TV for the past 20+ years. I personally have owned 2 Sony TVs for the past 15 years.
But have since switch from Sony. Sony's LCD/ LED TV while being more expensive then others and at the same time having lower spec.

BTW, Samsung is supplying Sony's TV parts smile.gif

Hi,

Last week went to electric shop near my house to brought a Toshiba 40 inch LED TV. It can read 27 video format, I have try on those rmvb, mkv, avi, flv, mpeg and etc. All running smoothly, just plug in the thumb drive, is so convenience as I can save the money to get others things rather than buy 1 more video player. I just brought it at RM2150 as they having promotion at that time.

Samsung (malaysian version) cannot play rmvb files directly from the TV. You need either a video player or convert the file format mad.gif

guys,
why would you want to online with your tv?
i tried one of it from sony and the remote is just too troublesome and slow.
but i think wireless is important so that we can stream movies to the tv without any connections.
any recommendations?
thanks.

found out the offer for d5000 at 1899 was only up to july 17th. that is why my d5500 is back up to rm3499 (w/o usb dongle) from the offer price of rm 2698 (with usb dongle)

Bring up this old thread.

Currently looking for a 40" TV for my new condo unit.

Sony has been my choice of brand for TV but after surveying around some electrical shops, many of the shops do not encourage me taking Sony.

So,
1. Is Sony really that bad?
2. What/Who are the current market leader for 40" TV (be it LCD/LED/Plasma)?

Initial, I'm just opting for a Sony 40' LCD. If possible, would prefer to play rmvb, mkv, avi, etc video format since I am NOT subscribing Astro and will do a lot of streaming (from a laptop or any other way).

What wrong with Sony?

You should do research and not just listen to the salesman. This salesman talk about this bad that good depend on commission. Who give more $$, they will promote that brand more. True story.

You get more info at audiophile site. Not here.

Hi, I'm looking for a 42/46 LCD tv also.

1. SMART/3D features???? I dun need any SMART tv, 3d TV

2. LCD/LED/PLASMA??? I want LCD only.....cause i currently has a 32 inch LCD panasonic which i use for almost 5 years, still perfectly OK, image quality fine for me cause most of the time Im with Astro only. Not plasma as window is directly opposite my tv.

3. PRICE RANGE????? Can sifu shed me some light: the reason for upgrading is SIZE as i moved from apartment to landed. 32 inch is awkwerdly small for the living room.

SO, what is in the market CHEAPEST 46 inch LCD TV????
