Is that alright with most of the monster? Sheathe your weapon when the monsters are far away, find their blind spot then poke poke poke. Guard or evade left/right when their face are towards you, or in their attacking position (like Barioth's side body slam). You can forward +triangle for more speed. or tri+circle for upward stab. And one of the most important principle of hunting = Don't be greedy in your offense until you're one with your weapon.
