for me, spending on bd or dvds, vhs, LDs is never stupid... it is a hobby right? more like an investment la...

nway, i've been there, done that! dat time even worse - during dvd early days ('97-98). i'd spent RM100-125 on imported dvds (R1) every day on the 1st week i bought a dvd player!! and dat time where got online purchase... all bought at Sg. Wang plaza & my $$$ all flow away from my wallet into the sungai; hence the name sg penuh dgn wang... tongue.gif

wow...everyone here is full of $$$$$$$.......i stop buying any movie disc for a while .....have no extra money for these luxury items....(living cost is so damn high nowadays)

well, still got hope....
can borrow, borrow. can't borrow, download (curi-curi schedule download at office during the night)....
*
I was once like you too - I bought movie discs like nobody's business... but somehow have slowed down & now have not bought any for almost 7 months due to financial commitment elsewhere. Well, buying movie discs in a large quantity or little or not at all are individual preference... so does borrow, rent or "download". But one don't have to highlight "that" because we only discuss the "legit" ones here. I know most of us do it too; for a specific reason.. but we'd rather keep it to ourself... icon_rolleyes.gif

Green Lantern 3D - US edition cover is out smile.gif

... and it is Extended Edition, but it only apply to 2D version, 3D only Theatrical.

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Green-Lanter...-Blu-ray/26080/
QUOTE(sKyWiR3pT3lTd @ Aug 24 2011, 02:21 PM)
There could be a reason as why the Extended version doesn't get 3D features.
QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Aug 24 2011, 02:23 PM)
Theatrical just take the 3D edition, extended need more time doing that extra part - my opinion.

Must be $$$ issue la... since Green Lantern was originally shot flat (2D), then only converted to 3D in post-production... while not doing so well at cinemas! So, it is more convenient for the studio to only do the 3D once; that is for theatrical release while the Extended Edition using the original 2D.

Most of the time, they pre-order when announced. It will eventually delivered to you or reach you on the release date. It does not happen if you buy it from Malaysia.
It's the geographical factor. How could forumers have it here on release date? Any examples?
*
hmm... i was perplexed too, but years ago during dvd era (late 90s), most of the dvds i bought from retailer at Sg Wang were 3-4 days earlier than their street dates in the States - bought on Saturday Msia & release date Tues in US. i remembered posted some reviews on US dvd website where other forumers wondered how i got my hands on those discs before they do... tongue.gif

Hi guys, want to ask buying from Amazon

am i gona get tax by custom if we buy bluray from amazon ? how many or depend on amount prices ?

thanks
*
apart from luck & product/shipping not exceeding RM500, timing of arrival also may affect the outcome; say if 2 different orders where each costs less than RM500 but arrived on same date & destination - might oso kena tax if total exceeding RM500! rclxub.gif

Please note that the price of Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy (Blu-ray + Digital Copy) has increased from $49.99 to $79.78 since you placed it in your Shopping Cart. Items in your cart will always reflect the most recent price displayed on their product detail pages.

1st time I seen price increase, it seems no promotion on it for now, only discount USD $0.20 !!!

Beside this, the new cover became bilingual title?!
*
Could this be a Canadian release then?

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Sep 2 2011, 05:28 PM)
Haha! The story for me just too simple and a lot of stupid plot, the character can appear, dissapear within a second. (character by Matt Damon).

I just don't like it. tongue.gif
*
I'd never buy a "blu-ray" of a movie i've never seen or watched before even if it got the highest rating or won numerous awards.. tongue.gif

Wow! After disappeared for about 1 week time, only so few posts?  sweat.gif

Yesterday, first time I saw steel slipcover. laugh.gif  Quite nice but too fat for me.  It is New Zealand version of Fast and Furious - Limited Edition Steel Packaging.  Apart from this steel slipcover, the blu-ray case (plastic!) inside is same as UK type of blu-ray case. fat!  doh.gif The price I saw is NZ$19.99 at The Warehouse.  Too bad, I already got this movie in BD, so, decide not to buy.

user posted image

Oh ya, the stickers in this steel slipcover (front cover) can be remove. The rated M is actual paper sticker.  But there is small M in side cover can't remove since already print in the cover (The photo above didn't show that small M in side cover but in actual product, there is small M there).

P/S:  No information is back cover regarding the region lock or not.

For other titles with paper slipcover, the quality also very lousy, not really worth to buy.  tongue.gif

bro andrew will luv this... slipcover; steel summore! tongue.gif

Just cancel US edition of Scream 1,2,3 & 2 documentaries set. Now pre-ordered Canada edition which include Scream 4 as well. biggrin.gif

It not include the extra 2 documentaries as US edition, but I am fine with it, I more prefer this 4 Scream edition. smile.gif

In future, may have Scream 5 and 6, but that is still unknown at the moment.

BEWARE fellow forummer !!!

Yesterday received Gladiator from amazon.com

I think that I have received the defective copy because the UPC code is white, above the Paramount logo on the cover states 2 Disc Set (I didn't get a slipcover) and on disc 1 laser print states .....R1

How can this happen after 1 year the remastered version already released.
*
a small matter... just email Amazon & explain them the scenario & they'll resend the proper version without any issue... nod.gif

Nope not because of your dispute, cuz I worry the quality is at par with the older release so I  cancel it. I watched demo from a hi-fi shop using the older version Top Gun and it is not that nice.. serious.  smile.gif and also Stars Wars Saga + Jurassic Trilogy release.. is round the corner  drool.gif
*
Yup, a wise decision... Top Gun 25th Ann blu-ray has the same AVC-encoded transfer as the 2 previous hi-def releases; so in other words - it is the same - under-par quality transfer! They only add a digital copy (& a new cover art) to this anniversary release tongue.gif

Just finished Hanna.

PQ: 4.3/5
AQ: N/A (don't have proper HT, so can't comment)
Movie: Above average but not excellent. In fact a bit not understand/confused of the purpose of this movie. Secretly chasing a genetic modified child for what? The one chasing the child not even represent government (even though she work for government but more like personal matter) .  rclxub.gif
So, 3.5/5.

better watch Hannah Montana... biggrin.gif:

I don't have 3DTV also, haha, just the 3D slipcover look damn nice. It include 2D inside.

Anyway, I think i probably go for Japan Steelbook Edition.

* Thanks for highlight awful 3D of it. Can't believe it is that bad!
*
i have to agree wif the reviewer completely because i've seen Thor 3D myself at the cinema & regretted not chosing the 2D bcos i really luv the movie. the only 3D movie i luv was Avatar although i dont fancy 3D - it is a mere gimmick to sell some cinema tix & new home tv panel doh.gif

Black Friday that I know is the first Friday that follows after Thanksgiving Day and it marks the beginning of Xmas sales in the States... there may be other definition but what's important here is the "day (or in this case: a week) of the year" for blu-ray aficionados around the world... tongue.gif
