These are 2 different generations of Camry you are referring. Some never models maybe under going cost-cutting, newer environmental friendly materials etc which made the older model "behaved" better.

I believe the Tomyam land Camry are supplied to MY, SG and Down-under. The other two countries have better requirement and more stringent regulations than MY. I strongly believe Tomyam land assembly is more reliable than our Bolehland, maybe due to workers' attitude.

Ask some of friends who drive Honda that are assembled in MY about the Honda quality.....

2AZ-FE is quite a good engine...

at RM185-190K, may be should also consider a VW Passat at RM175K or Peugeot 508 at RM171K.

The issue here is not our market is big or too small market.... too troublesome to bring in multiple models...

You need AP, Import and excise duties, puspakom etc... Just bring in a few models will do.

Anyway Camry is still a good car (remembered a fellow Lebanese student drove one in 1982 in Canada:) ) However, the engine technology maybe losing to the German. For more than 175K, I would go for Passat.

Better buy the 2012 Camry ACR40. Someone has bought the 2.4 for less than RM160K.
