I'm so happy when you guys start to discuss about Galaxy R...
I searched around the web about this phone (Malaysia website) but only a few results are obtained. Since people focus on Galaxy SII, no one pays attention on this phone. Now I am surprised to see this forum becoming alive again!! Keep it on guys! your efforts will raise the fame of Galaxy R in Malaysia!!! Currently, there is only AP (RM1300 - RM1400) for this phone in Malaysia. I don't think Samsung will join this phone to our market (because of Galaxy SII, again). Price range nearly the same? Maybe. ap SII RM1599 vs ap R RM1399. You decide the answer. Want root? Check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348857 |

Also, some developers assume that Tegra 2 has less overheating problems compare to other phones, even when overclocking.
Galaxy R vs Galaxy S II non-g is impossible, but compare it to G version, that's another situation. I wish to buy this phone, but there are some problems concerning me: 1. Only AP. AP phones are suspicious for me. 2. Only firmware from Taiwan. Some function will be lost if it is used in Malaysia. 3. Android support and updates. I don't think Galaxy R will get ICS update and the developer will stop creating / updating / modifying their rom / kernel after some time. Blackthorn can you give further updates about your experience in using this phone? Edit: Maybe I'm going to buy this phone in this month. This post has been edited by ZRong223: Dec 3 2011, 09:48 PM |

QUOTE(Blackthorn @ Dec 4 2011, 10:14 AM) Hey buddy... About NEON, I have same opinion as yours.yep totally agreed that SGR (i9103) vs SGS2 (i9100) is not entirely can match.. only i9100G can head to head with SGR.. due to diff CPU and GPU. you can read up some comparison in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19879762 there is only around 4 pages.. infos n some trolling comments (hehe), u can read and know that SGR is also a good gaming phone.. but lack of NEON SIMD and can't support FSAA (anti aliasing) via Chainfire3D.. still Tegra2 is a good GPU.. hence its a nVidia la bro! ehehe... super smooth I tell you.. to be honest I'm not sure is NEON really matter.. coz nVidia always had their own ways to boost/improve their chipset.. 1. Yes.. atm only AP set is available atm.. I did asked at Samsung Mobile shop at Lowyat they said not coming to malaysia..(yet?) but a friend of mine told me that its coming to malaysia this month officially!! 2. The latest firmware http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19902314 is Taiwan Release 5 acoording to the thread.. it says google apps and english language is available. not sure whats missing. I haven't update it yet though. 3. This one i'm not sure.. atm we r voting to get our own Forum.. and from there.. there is hope for developing custom roms/kernels/tourble shooting etc... maybe ICS port to SGR maybe.. but official ICS still unconfirmed. so many expectation.. so it just pinch of salt... 1. Can you ask your friend how he/she knows it? Please don't give us fake hopes... 2. I have read some threads and I (myself) concluded that this problem doesn't matter TOO MUCH if the firmware is from the region where I live (maybe different country also nevermind). This means that Taiwan is in Asia region, and I'm Asian. So I think I don't think to worry too much about it. 3. I agree, but this is the matter of time... OH ya, I found another problem: 4. Since this phone doesn't popular at here, less people (or actually none) sell its accessories... |

QUOTE(Matrix @ Dec 5 2011, 10:29 AM) I am interested in this set two...but i guess official sets won't be coming...i guess it boils down to pricing...if AP set RM 1.4k...ori set...RM 1.6 to RM 1.7k....price too close to SGS2...no point for this phone existance. Samsung Galaxy SII AP = RM1599Samsung Galaxy R AP = RM1399 Let's say that their price difference is constant, that is, RM200. Galaxy SII SME = RM1899 Galaxy R SME = RM 1699 That's truly only a small difference. But right now, there is only G version of Galaxy SII WITH same price (RM1899). Galaxy R vs Galaxy SII G version is possible. Reconsider your thoughts if there are SME version of Galaxy R. |

Oh ya...
Another thing that people prefer Galaxy SII: Galaxy SII has Super Amoled and Gorilla glass. Galaxy R has SC-LCD and no Gorilla glass... And.. Galaxy SII is thinner? |

QUOTE(Blackthorn @ Dec 5 2011, 12:12 PM) Galaxy W is a nice phone bro.. 1.4ghz below RM900 gap worth buying if budget below RM1000. Use the custom kernel and clock it to 1.2Ghz. Then imagine that you are holding a modified version of Galaxy SII. I also almost bought it.. but prefers bigger screen.. then tak jadi lah.. wanted SGS2 so bad but budget only below than that.. huhuh |

Holy.. This is VERY strange...
Look at this page: http://mobilemegamall.com/gadget/316/Samsu...ecs-Review.html See the bottom of this page. There are 2 shops which are selling this phone WITH ORIGINAL PRICE and stating that they are original. More info: http://mobilemegamall.com/goods/6191#module http://mobilemegamall.com/goods/7668#module If they are really original, I don't think the firmware will be from Malaysia. Edit: Thanks to soulseeker6187. "Original" here means SME set. This post has been edited by ZRong223: Dec 7 2011, 11:40 AM |

I have no rights to do it because I do not own this phone.
Once (IF) there are original version for this phone, a new thread should be created. Old thread discussion: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1978823/all |

Hey, thanks on informing about this.
So there are sellers of case/covers/pouch at Lowyat? Mind to tell me which shop you visited to buy this phone? This gives me another reason of buying this phone for myself. Edit: Hey I just found a seller that sells many types of screen protector for Galaxy R http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...amsung+galaxy+r Check it out. Hmm... I have heard many people don't like to buy phones at Lowyat Plaza.
Some buyers are cheated when buying original phone. That phone is AP set but sells at original price. The seller keep stating that the phone is original. But since Galaxy R has only AP, then this should not be a problem... Unless they lie for second-handed phones / water set... |

Here is another somewhat weak proof that Tegra 2 are more reliable than other boards.
Rockstar Games will release GTA3 for Android phones with Tegra 2. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

Haha... Glad that you get it.
It seems that the accessories for Galaxy R are started selling around the market. This is a good news for Galaxy R users. Edit: Samsung Galaxy W vs Galaxy Y vs Galaxy R... There is still long journey to go for Galaxy R. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301121 This post has been edited by ZRong223: Dec 11 2011, 08:16 PM |
