no problem. if you confirm your motherboard onboard sound card hardware faulty; but you might need to further check, is only analog output faulty? digital output faulty? or confirm both also faulty?
(analog=green/black/grey audio jack; digital=coaxial/optical output)

once confirmed, you can consider 3 options below:
1. dedicated PCI/PCIe sound card.
2. dedicated Video Card with HDMI. (recommended ATi)
3. external USB sound card.

decision depend on what PC speaker using or Home Theater System using.
Please share with us what is your sound system. I will try my best to advise you.

seem like some of post replied missing....
anyway, if your laptop come with hdmi; suggest using HDMI that carried both sound and video in single cable.
else you may continue using vga + 3.5mm audio jack-to-rca cable for sound. but I don't have that, sorry.
