Hi guys,
Please allow me to post 1 off-topic post here.
These are some questions that I always wanted to know more in order to advise my friends. As I have not used an iPhone before, I don't want to simply say the wrong things about iPhone.
If I post these in Iphone thread, they will probably throw me out. So, I hope you guys here who have used Iphone before but now changed to our SGS2 can advise me the following:
For Iphone users, how do they get around/ resolve the following limitatons/ issues? Can they do it? If yes, how?
1) To transfer files to a PC / Notebook using ordinary USB port?
2) To transfer any files via Bluetooth to another phone like Nokia, Sony Ericsson, etc?
3) To watch Website with Flash?
4) If battery spoilt after 1-year warranty, can they just replace the battery easily? Buy and put in yourself?
5) To use video call but 3G (not Wifi)? and to other phones besides iPhone? Possible?
6) To do 3G tethering - ie act as a wifi modem, so that any PC or phone can hook on to the 3G data and surf the Net?
7) To watch any type of video and picture format like SGS2? ie mkv, avi, flv, divx etc?
8) To change their Homescreen and launcher style other than just changing the static wall paper?
In my mind, I think some of the items cannot be done...but some Iphone lovers claim that they can jailbreak. Does jailbreaking allow them to do all the above?
Thanks for educating me.....good for my own knowledge in case my friends ask me about Iphone versus SGS2....
1) To transfer files to a PC / Notebook using ordinary USB port?
is USB port a showstopper to transfer file? it has never an issue. i would rephrase my question to is there any apps to allow iphone to transfer file to pc? the answer is yes. even without any apps, the moment you plugin like SGS2, it will be detected and you can copy and paste file like usual (without app, you cant access root folder)
2) To transfer any files via Bluetooth to another phone like Nokia, Sony Ericsson, etc?
no
3) To watch Website with Flash?
no
4) If battery spoilt after 1-year warranty, can they just replace the battery easily? Buy and put in yourself?
if you know how and have special tool to open the phone, then the answer is yes. other wise you have to let ppl earn your money. battery cost is around RM65 + labour fee = RM100-RM150
5) To use video call but 3G (not Wifi)? and to other phones besides iPhone? Possible?
yes and no. non jailbroken = no, jailbroken = yes
6) To do 3G tethering - ie act as a wifi modem, so that any PC or phone can hook on to the 3G data and surf the Net?
yes, either USB or hotspot
7) To watch any type of video and picture format like SGS2? ie mkv, avi, flv, divx etc?
yes and no. natively it only support certain video format, but you can download app to play all the format
8) To change their Homescreen and launcher style other than just changing the static wall paper?
yes and no. you can change some style or feel and look provided that it has been jailbroken. not as flexible as android
