KLCC Maxis refuses to sell to walk-in customers.
Mid Valley Maxis says they have no stock. Where else can I get this phone with a maxis contract? |

I've been doing some total cost of ownership calculation on the phone. The best deal for 1 year commitment is Maxis 1.5gb after $10 monthly rebate. But if you were to keep the data over a year, the best deal is 2 years 1.5gb. personally i think 1 year is good enough as you can just renew the next year with a new phone and continue with the savings. But do correct me if I'm wrong

QUOTE(Fulvian @ Jul 1 2011, 04:21 AM) Count me in. Wow wtf, I was there 10.15am and those 2 guys at the front say there's no stock! WTF?!Got mine from Samsung store at The Gardens early this morning at 10am, I was the first walking-in buyer (I didn't preorder)... very few stocks this morning, so I guess they're already out of stock by now, but try anyway... They gave me 2 years warranty just like SEP at 1 Utama (I came there yesterday and they're out of stock, SEP said next batch should be next week) |

Some **** is going on with Maxis. I went to a few stores and they straight out lie and say that there's no stock, but clearly they have a bunch at the back. I'm really pissed off right now that those idiots told me that they have no phone in Sunway when someone else just bought it "walk-in".

Casing recommendation?
What's the most favorable case for the S2? SGP ultra capsule looks like what I'd like to have but those sparkling dusts in the black case makes it look a little cheap... |

Can someone suggest which is a better rom to flash? Villain 1.4 or 0.3.7 AFAIk the touchwiz gui is a little laggy and I'd like to remove that. |

Coming from BB to Android, I really need some help
Which email app should I be using? Gmail app or the stock email app? Gmail app seems to look nicer. However, I have no clue how to mark all as read. Also, what "unified" IM should I be using that would show notification? I have GO launcher installed and a few GO apps |

Btw, did anybody else notice that there is a "very slight backlight bleeding" on the left/right side of the home button? Yours maybe on the left or it could be on the right. It's like a small white dot of light peeking throught the button

QUOTE(Bugeca @ Jul 7 2011, 02:08 AM) Mine is slightly towards the right side. If I push the button towards right it will cover it but it'd come back sooner or later since the button wiggles. My BB 9700 has even more of those but eh..somehow this tiny white done (smaller dot than a dot of liquid paper) on my brand new phone is a little disturbing LOLAdded on July 7, 2011, 1:31 pmI've been playing with the phone a lot these 2 days, like a little boy with his new toy, or the first few times you met your GF. I removed touchwiz and launcherpro with root uninstaller. I just did a factory reset and it couldnt find the apps and I'm left with a black screen LOL. Time to reflash the rom This post has been edited by AlamakLor: Jul 7 2011, 01:31 PM |

does anybody know how to dump the complete stock rom? I noticed that our rom is not available on xda, so how do people intend to restore the phone for warranty claim without it?

MY EXPERIENCE WITH GS2 AND DIFFERENT ROMS/STOCK ROM
Been playing with a bunch of roms for awhile and here's some finding's I'd like to share: 1) Villainrom is quite a bit of a PITA to use because there are a lot of patches that need to be added. Other roms are usually cooked up-to-date by the cook and comes very close to perfect. 2) Baseband KE7 baseband after battery calibration gave me best battery life 3) KF2 kernal gave me some random shutdown issue. Flashing back to KF1 has been the most stable. 4) Our firmware is from Singapore. The stock firmware can be downloaded here: http://hotfile.com/dl/120783140/282d1ad/I9100ZSKF1.rar.html It took me a bit of digging to find the correct firmware with correct CSC. If you wish to use samsung apps, you have to make sure the CSC is correct or a lot of the functions wont work. Most of the custom Roms on XDA have different (their localized) CSC. 5) Hacked google nav is excellent, no longer need to bother with PAPAGO. HOWEVER, the robotic voice is absolutely horrible.. 6) One rom that is close to perfect is TK Rom 3.0.8. However for some reasons "Samsung Apps" was left in there and because the CSC is incorrect for our region, the app is pretty much useless. If you were to flash back all the samsung apps as per the rom's thread, you will find that almost none of the stock samsung apps work since the CSC is incorrect. TK Rom + baseband KE7 + KF1 Kenal is the most stable rom I've used so far. However, to "perfect" the rom, you need to install root uninstaller (android market) and remove the samsung app. Install GO Launcher and speed up the transition speed. You will no longer feel the transition lag between pages. It's about 95%, if not 100%, as smooth as iOS. I am now trying Cognition S2 which also seems to be a very well made Rom. QUOTE(cruzzmz @ Jul 8 2011, 02:12 PM) ok thanks for the info ... ill try cooking the rom with the kernel and will pack the CSC (BTW is ZSKF1 have the same CSC as Maxis has) & Baseband (modem) of KE7 and will release it to LYN forumer Is there a guide to cooking Android roms? I used to cook windows mobile rom back in the days (can still find my "K's Rom" in XDA under my nick kin0kin lol). If someone could tell me what are the tools needed to cook android rom without having to study a bunch of stuff all over again, I am confident that I can cook up a decent stock-looking rom without all the garbage. Most importantly I'd like to know how to dump a rom off the phone.Added on July 9, 2011, 2:28 amUpdating to stock 2.3.4. Let's see how it goes. Will root and remove garbage later if all goes well.
